  1. Hehe yeah... Something not likely to be seen again..
  2. Combat Landing. Worst one was my first one in a C-130 in 2004, landing in Balad, Iraq. Dark, looking out of a porthole, praying that we land...
  3. Haha nothing really, I didn't expect him to let me try it out But hey I'm always up for paid reviews :)
  4. Monty CZ has been (as we all know) working on the Aero L-39 Albatross trainer/light attack aircraft. Install: It's easy as just putting the folders where they belong. Decals and the fuel tanks is per Strike Fighters 2 drag and drop configuration, and then fire the game up First Impressions. Overall when you sit in the cockpit of the aircraft, you'll see a well modeled and well textured cockpit. The lights for most of the functions are present, and correspond to what they're supposed to do (see attached technical manual). Major differences of course is that the L-39ZA and -Z0 configurations have a very basic gunsight modeled for basic gun and rocket use. Textures are simply beautiful, but are high resolution 2048 x 2048 so if you're using a slower machine, changing the files to a smaller resolution may work for you. This applies both externally and internally where Monty spent a good deal of time to work on it. It feels polished, and to some degree like a real plane should. Flying. Being a faster jet flyer, I admittedly have to re-adjust my mind to the fact that I will move slower. But in reality it doesn't detract from flying the aircraft, as if you read the attached technical manual by Monty himself, then you will have no problems. Handling is standard fare, and admittedly I don't have that much (none really) experience in a real life Albatross. But that's okay, because it feels like how the plane flies, and if you can get that, then I would guess that it's close enough. It's highly advised to read the flight manual, but towards finals I forgot the most important part, was to keep it at the minimum of 70% of throttle to stay aloft. I managed to nurse the jet in at 50% with two tanks and two Atolls. So I'd take some time and get to learn the aircraft and how it handles as it's nicely done and honestly nice to just fly rather than always shoot things up. However, once the aircraft gets some speed life is good and it handles well, despite its age. For the shooters though, it is a lightly armed aircraft and all versions can carry a modicum of rockets and bombs but remember it is a light attack plane, but since it's such lightly armed assymetric loads are possible. As per the mission I used I had various options available to me, but again, it's a light trainer and that's fine for me. It's just a plane you can fire up and fly just to have fun and more than likely I'll even fly it often on just to have some fun. And that's the whole thing in a nutshell. technical manual.pdf
  5. "Hey! Quit playing games while I fly!!!!!" That is bad man, and while I can't say I didn't admire the plane, but it's a good thing it is being replaced.
  6. But after a test ride... it's all clear to me now... This is one beautifully done aircraft.
  7. That to me is a better explanation as its more descriptivethan what you have now
  8. Updated my VFA-2 Bounty Hunters Late Scheme: http://combatace.com/files/file/9451-vfa-2-bounty-hunters-late-scheme-for-sf2/
  9. The worst at BAF is when a Prowler takes off, easily the most loudest jet in the world. Hell, Strike Eagles going full burner is loud... but my first time I heard that I swore it was some big cargo plane. Nope, one dinky Prowler causing the utmost noise pollution in the world... Hell the only way you know a cargo plane is taking off is when you see it!
  10. Honestly never Tactically takeoff on the Afghan map, with the only worry being East of Kabul, so I just climb high... A VFA-103 Super Hornet assigned to the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Group heads north from the Persian Gulf heading for another patrol mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
  11. Thanks that's some help But on a more serious note Monty this for some reason cornfuses me...: "If a touchdown cannot be avoided, do not attempt to keep the aircraft off the ground." Though it means that if the plane needs to be landed, land immediately?
  12. Looks okay by me, then again it'd be nice to have the actual aircraft to test the manual
  13. Well I think the belly could be worked on too... but I agree, something more "racier" and it probably would have worked. But then again the Typhoon is a nice looking bird so its good that you Brits decided to put some nicer lines in your planes :) Looking east of Masar i Sharif.
  14. Which obviously is a good point. As of course a virtual pilot I like to go to external view and look at whatever I prefer to fly (not just the Super Hornet, believe it or not) and enjoy it. But yeah... the Lightning is just ugly...
  15. I flew it a few times. It's nice but since I'm not much of an A2A nut in the first place it's good to zip around in though. And SidDogg for the Super Bugs... if you need an updated base skin let me know as I'm slothily updating things, and eventually the PSD for it.
  16. Honestly not a Lightning fan but that is beautiful Spinners...
  17. Thanks Though honestly it's just me banking and using the F10 Fly By view, with Gepard's Afghan repainted tiles. Though I admit it did come out real good...
  18. Leaving The Tanker (thanks to STORM)
  19. Its a bug, and confirmed. I think if you do it with unedited missions, then you're fine, but with a mission edit, you'll start in the middle of the runway.
  20. Look at this portion of the pylon data: DiameterLimit=0.742 LoadLimit=1501 LengthLimit=5.181 Check the Popeye data and modify the pylons so it will accept the weapon.
  21. Well as I understood it Exp2 is for SF2E so naturally if you don't have it, it's not going to install correctly. I have SF2E only and it installed fine.
  22. Also selection in the Single Mission screen is fixed, showing the correct amount of default wingmen, as well as solo starts are at ramp start, not in the middle of the runway.
