Right on, MadJeff! You hit the nail right on the head. When you are younger you are sampling what the world has to offer. As you get more years under your belt you toss out the meaningless stuff and focus on the things that can really bring lasting happiness. It's an entirely normal process. I wouldn't mind having my 21 year old body again IF I could keep what I know. You'll notice that it doesn't work that way, however. ;) As for YOU, Navy Chief, why you're a mere child. As one of the "old guys", I can put an end to your wondering about what old guys are thinking right now. I'm thinking, "I've been your age but you have yet to be my age." Wondering if you are referring to "noise"? In the old days, when you got down low, the immersion fell apart because ground textures were low res and blurry. Really looked like crap. One thing they have done to improve that is to add "noise". Gives you some well defined textures even at low alt and really adds to the feeling of speed. Either that or you have the flu. :D

I have an ATI Radeon 9800, 128 mb and I have had no problems with it at all. There are a million things that can affect system performance. Read some of the tweaking guides and try stuff. Look at Windows tweaks, BIOS tweaks, etc.. One time I even discovered that my joystick was causing a slow down! With ATI you need to remove the old driver and control panel before you install the new one. There is a utility at the ATI site which will remove ALL ATI files on your system. I usually run that before I install a new driver and matching control panel. They also advise to install the new drivers before you install the new control panel. Just thought I'd mention that as driver installation is an opportunity to mess things up. :) Falcon 4.0 plus all of the patches, mods, addons, is kewl. Don't expect the scenery and terrain to look quite as nifty as LOMAC. If you like realism in a jet sim you would probably like it. It's a classic. You would have to spend some time reading the manual for the version you are running. Gotta do your homework with that one! Later, Dude.

The guys are right, Smoke Eater. We all started out knowing nothing about BIOS. We've played around with it and we are still here. It is one of the ways to get the most out of your system. So, don't let BIOS scare you. The approach the guys are suggesting is a very good one. Read first. One tweak at a time. Test. I've never crashed my machine tweaking BIOS. I DID crash it one time messing with other stuff... but that's another story.

Oh man, there's a whole big flap going on last I heard. Basically G2I vs community. It may be released but unless things get resolved, I'm not sure how many copies will be sold. Some folks have been pretty peeved.

Quite a while back there was a lot of discussion as to whether an Audigy 2 used more resources than an Audigy. Might check around on the net to see what the latest is. As a gamer, your needs differ from those of an audiophile. You won't be disappointed in the sound, it's just a question of how much impact it might have on FPS.

Wow! Nice job, Indy_BIA! It's pretty tough trying to get into BIOS explanations long distance. That's why I was laughing. It's a real can of worms starting from scratch! Be careful what you change in there, Smoke Eater. Until you know more about BIOS you had better stick to PRECISELY what MadJeff said and leave everything else alone.
