I played with the skis all afternoon and I figured out how to use the shock animation to make the skis rotate while on the ground. It's not perfect, the skis dive underground while landing, but it looks pretty good on take off. I need to experiment more with the data parameters and the 3DS animation - I think this is going to work.

I am working (slowly) on a new version of Galicia, it will have some custom tiles, so someone may need to make seasonal versions of those. I haven't checked, but I think original Galicia terrain will work with the stock seasonal tiles, or with Jan Tuma's seasonal tiles. I modified a few tiles, but it won't look bad to put the originals back in. If "someone" is working on new campaigns for Galicia, that would be wonderful. PM me if you want maps of the new terrain. I will make a ski version of one of my Russian planes and upload it so you can see how you like it.

Yes, skis were used for mud as well as snow. In northern Russia, most of rivers run from south to north; in the spring, the snow starts melting upstream while the river mouth is still frozen, so the water backs up and the fields turn to mud for a month or so. I have thought about putting skis on some of my planes. I don't know how that would affect the FM for the landing, and I can't figure out how to make the skis stay parallel to the ground. I never made seasonal terrain tiles for the Galicia terrain anyway.

How you add weapons is different for FE1 and FE2. My Aviatik-Berg D.I 185hp plane in the Downloads section has instructions for installing a Schwartlose machine gun, for both FE1 and FE2. Other weapons should install the same way. -

I uploaded the Lebed 12 today. It has two skins - a green-grey paint and a wood & linenskin. The Lebed factory used a slightly different version of the Russian roundel insignia, I have included decals for that. I have also included Peter01's data for the Colt-Browning machine gun. Installation instructions and my skinning templates are included with the download. My thanks to Ojcar for making the FM, and to Peter01 for the gun data.

When I revised the Palestine Terrain, if I recall correctly, each terrain tile represents a 2 x 2 kilometer area. I think this is standard for SF. FE tiles are 500 x 500 meters.

The machine gun for the 185hp Aviatik is a new gun and needs to be added to the Weapons data. FE1 and FE2 use different install procedures. I included instructions for both in the download. Make sure you followed the instructions for the correct version.

Thanks guys. I also have a new, more accurate version of Galicia started. I'm placing rivers and roads at the moment and it's going pretty slowly. The whole map shifted to the northeast to bring the 1916/1917 battle fields more into the center of the map.

The Lebed XII was a Russian, 2 seat recon plane. It was introduced in 1916; it served until the end of the war and into the Russian civil wars. It was probably the most highly produced Russian design of World War I. It had one machine gun and could carry a small bomb load. The model is complete. I'm still working on the skins and cockpit.

There were 3 different versions of the Aviatik, they are not interchangeable. It sounds like you may have gotten them mixed up. If the plane does not show up in the list on the Single Mission screen, then the name on the ini files does not match the name on the folder, or one of the data files is missing or does not match the file listed in the ini file. If the plane does show up but is invisible in the game, then there is a problem with the LODs - either the names don't match or one of them is missing. Renaming the LODs will not fix the problem. The three versions are - AviatikD1_185, AviatikD1, and AviatikD1_Early - Each has 4 LODs, a different data file, and a different cockpit. All the skins will still work with all the planes, but they may be misaligned if they'e on the wrong plane. You may need to delete all of them and download clean versions of the planes.

I just uploaded the RAF BE12a - a single seat version of the BE2e. It's basically a BE12 but with the wings of a BE2e. It has a full set of number decals and 3 bomb loadouts. This will finish my variants of the BE2c, now I'm going back to planes for the Eastern Front for a while.

It carried a synchronized Vickers gun on the side of the fuselage, but didn't have the maneuverability to make a good fighter. My version has two skins, a full set of number decals, and has three bomb loadouts. My thanks to ojcar for making the FM, and for providing reference materials for the plane.

Today I uploaded a new version of the AEG C.IV which corrects a problem with the fuselage decals. I had used the "Tail" decal on the fuselage instead of "Insignia" and for some years the entire fuselage turned white. Version 2 corrects the problem. Thanks to Ojcar for finding my mistake.

I uploaded the RAF BE2e today. It has two skins and a set of serial number decals. There is also a bomb loadout - which (realistically) affects the plane's ability to climb. My thanks to ojcar for the FM, for providing resources, and for testing the plane. On another topic - I have not converted my Sopwith Tripe to First Eagles yet. But I've been thinking about it...

It also had a slightly smaller horizontal tail. The new configuration improved the plane's maneuverability, but did little to improve its overall performance. I have included a light bomb load, but the plane's rate of climb suffers somewhat when carrying bombs. I have included two skins, a green paint (PC10), and a brown paint (PC12). A full set of number decals and my skinning templates are included in the download. The gunner in the BE2e sat in front of the pilot and either had multiple guns, or was able to move the gun between multiple mounts. The game engine does not allow this, so I set up the data file to limit the gunner's aim to the upper rear of the plane. However, I provided alternate lines in the FM which will allow you to widen the gunner's aim, but that makes the gun pass through the struts, and sometimes shoot through the wing. Instructions for changing the gunner's range of motion are included in the download.
