The BE12a was a single seat version of the BE2e introduced in 1917. It was intended to be an improvement over the BE12, but the wing configuration did not improve maneuverability very much and it was only produced in small numbers. Like the BE12, it carried a synchronized Vickers gun mounted on the side of the fuselage and could carry up to 230 pounds of bombs. The BE12a was used briefly on the Western Front but saw much of its service in Palestine. My BE12a has three loadouts for light, medium, amd heavy bombs. I have included a green paint (PC10) skin and a full set of number decals. My skinning templates are included in the download. Credits Thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the BE12a, and for providing reference materials for the plane. Installation Instructions For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "RAFBE12a" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "RAFBE12a" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create new folder named "RAFBE12a". Move the folder named "D" from the Aircraft/RAFBE12a folder into the Decals/RAFBE12a folder you just made. -
I uploaded the RAF BE12 today. I was a single seat version of the BE2c. It had a larger, V12 engine, which pretty much crowded out the gunner. It carried a synchronized Vickers gun on the side of the fuselage, but didn't have the maneuverability to make a good fighter. My version has two skins, a full set of number decals, and has three bomb loadouts. My thanks to ojcar for making the FM, and for providing reference materials for the plane.

There was a synchronized Vickers gun mounted on the side of the fuselage and it could carry up to 230 pounds of bombs. The more powerful engine made the BE12 a faster plane, but it didn't have the maneuverability required for a fighter. The BE12 was used mostly for recon and light bombing missions. I agree with ojcar, it's looking very good. Is there a notch in the windscreen, or is it broken?

Today I uploaded a new version of the AEG C.IV which corrects a problem with the fuselage decals. I had used the "Tail" decal on the fuselage instead of "Insignia" and for some years the entire fuselage turned white. Version 2 corrects the problem. Thanks to Ojcar for finding my mistake.

I uploaded the RAF BE2e today. It has two skins and a set of serial number decals. There is also a bomb loadout - which (realistically) affects the plane's ability to climb. My thanks to ojcar for the FM, for providing resources, and for testing the plane. On another topic - I have not converted my Sopwith Tripe to First Eagles yet. But I've been thinking about it...

View File RAF BE2e The BE2e was an improved variant of the BE2c introduced in 1916. It had a longer upper wing and a shorter lower wing with a single set of struts. It also had a slightly smaller horizontal tail. The new configuration improved the plane's maneuverability, but did little to improve its overall performance. I have included a light bomb load, but the plane's rate of climb suffers somewhat when carrying bombs. I have included two skins, a green paint (PC10), and a brown paint (PC12). A full set of number decals and my skinning templates are included in the download. The gunner in the BE2e sat in front of the pilot and either had multiple guns, or was able to move the gun between multiple mounts. The game engine does not allow this, so I set up the data file to limit the gunner's aim to the upper rear of the plane. However, I provided alternate lines in the FM which will allow you to widen the gunner's aim, but that makes the gun pass through the struts, and sometimes shoot through the wing. Instructions for changing the gunner's range of motion are included in the download. Credits Thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the BE2e and for testing and helping with details of the model. Thanks to Mike Dora for identifying and helping me fix problems with the gunner. Thanks to Nicholas Bell for correcting the hit box coordinates for this plane. I'm finishing up the planes I started but never finished. Over the years, I've often gotten distracted by ground objects or terrains, and I had a lot of planes that got set aside. I should be caught up soon, then things will slow down again.
-
Since I released the BE 2c about a year ago, I have had many requests to make the 2e with different wings and tail, and the 12, single seater version. I've been working on them both (a 12a is also started.) I should have the BE2e finished very soon. Still working on details on the BE12.

Beardmore built Nieuport 12 WIP
Stephen1918 replied to Stephen1918's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
The Beardmore Nieuport 12 was uploaded this morning. There are two skins and two sets of number decals for the RFC and RNAS. -
View File Beardmore built Nieuport 12 The Nieuport 12 was built under license by Beardmore & Co. Ltd. for both the RNAS and the RFC. The Beardmore version differed from the French version in many small ways; the most obvious differences were - a vertical stabilizer at the tail, a slightly longer lower wing, and a different engine cowling. My version has a Lewis Gun mounted on a Scarff Ring for the observer and a Vickers Gun mounted on the fuselage for the pilot. The British built Nieuports had the insignia placed differently from the French versions, my decal ini's are British style. I have included two skins, a brown and linen skin for the RFC, and a dark green skin for the RNAS. There is a set of appropriate serial number decals for each. My skinning templates are included with the download. I have also made British faces for the cockpit instruments. Because of the many minor differences, the skins, cockpit, and data file are not interchangeable with my original Nieuport 12. Credits: My thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the original N12, I have made slight changes for the Beardmore version. Installation instructions: For FE1: Unzip the file and move the folder named "Nieuport12Beardmore" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. The Beardmore Company's version of the Nieuport was almost identical to the French version but with some minor changes. Most significantly, it had a vertical fin on the tail, a longer lower wing, and a full cowling around the engine. I have used British guns to arm the plane. I'm putting British instruments in the cockpit, and still doing some minor tweaking. I hope to have it finished in a day or two.

Thanks. I think this is a nice little plane. The information available for this plane is pretty thin, so parts of it are pure guesswork, but it is fun to fly!

The buildings and forts are very nice and will look great in many of our terrains. I'm tempted to revise my terrains now.

For the Eastern Front - today I uploaded the Moska MB bis, a Russian single wing fighter. I have included two versions, a stock version with an angled gun, and a "field mod" version with a horizontal gun and deflector plates. There is also a ground object version of the plane with its wings folded.

View File Moska MB bis The Moska MB bis was a Russian single wing fighter, first deployed in 1916 and produced throughout the rest of World War I. It did not have a synchronized gun and the stock plane had the gun mounted at an angle to fire over the prop. I have created a "field modded" version with a horizontal gun and with deflector plates on the prop. Both versions use the same skins. I have included my skinning templates with the download. The planes uses the stock decals, so there is no "D" folder with this plane. One of the distinctive features of the Moska MB was that its wings could be folded for shipping and transport. I have included a static model, with folded wings, that can be used by modders in their terrains. The static version has a destroyed version and includes the Types.ini data. Credits Thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Moska MB bis. Thanks also to Nix for creating the sound file for the Gnome 80hp engine. Installation Instructions For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folders named "MoskaMBbis" and "MoskaMBbisMod"into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. You also need to move the sound file "gnome80m4.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. I have his Avro 504D and the decals seem to be working OK on the rudder.

Two new files: Lewis Gun and AEG C.IV
Stephen1918 replied to Stephen1918's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I'm sorry, Don246. I am stumped. It looks like the game is using a formation, but putting three of the planes in the same position instead of spreading them out. But your Formation.ini looks the same as mine. Have any of you other guys ever come across this? -

Have you changed the Formations.ini in the Flight folder? If there is a Formations.ini file in your Flight folder, try moving it out of the folder and seeing what happens. -

Stephen1918 replied to Stephen1918's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Perhaps it's something in the Formations file? Can you post a screen shot? -
Yesterday I uploaded two new files for First Eagles - A stand alone Lewis Gun and the AEG C.IV two seater. The Lewis Gun is based on the gun I made for my Nieuports 10 and 12. I included the data for the Weapons Data, based on the data Whiteknight06604 used for his Lewis Gun on the Nieuport 17. I did not attempt to make installation instructions, but I did include a diagram to help modders calculate the data needed in the plane's FM. The AEG C.IV was a German two seater which saw heavy use during the last two years of the war. I was thinking of Palestine when I made this, but the skins are generic enough to use on any front. My thanks to Ojcar for making another wonderful FM for my plane.
