You know, one thing TK's AI programming does GREAT is terrain avoidance. I'd say maybe try going on "autopilot" and let the AI handle it. Watch the AI do its stuff and its very dramatic, like you read about early TF planes giving aircrew a rough ride. TK's AI will do exactly that! Just keep throttle high so the AI has enough energy to do its stuff in hilly terrain. You can still use the radar and video thing for the video guided weapons, and take control from the AI when you get target in sight or on radar. ...um...all that assumes the mission waypoints get the AI to the target of course.

Beautiful bird, Super Model. dwace:: I dunno, I've been "thinking" again. Some airframes are mach limited, so lift is needed as well as thrust since air speed can't be increased. I've been learning about the Banshee lately -- DAM -- big long wings, 1940s jet power, but it could geddyup almost 50,000 feet and embarassed USAF which was claiming B-36 flew too high to be intercepted.
-
I never figured out what controls this in the sim (but then I haven't really looked for it). Its said that some planes get through Mach 1 without warning except the instruments, and the early guages didn't exactly give trusty info on this.

What is this? (a giant russian bomber?)

rz: You came to the *right* place my new friend. You too can become a combat ace, and won't need to hide behind cowardly snickering. Near the bottom of the first page of this thread, we have some information on Russian born size, toughness, and survivability in aviation. Bigass. Badass. Survival of the most survivable. Its basic Aviation Darwinism. -

TX!#@$:: Ah you are still new here. The replacement Ant-20bis in your link was successful and flew cargo until crashing 1942. For the Newbies, this happens to airplanes, from time to time. Russians invented gigantism, toughness, and survivability in aviation. See near the bottom of the first page of this thread for some info on this. -
Some years back I was driving home from uni, approaching the airport, and saw dot with long dark smoke coming off the runway, and that was not normal so I paid attention. We past each other -- it north, me south. It was a MiG-15, followed by an F-86 taking off behind it, with more dark smoke. Smooth. epic fail translator or reader thing. Navy guys hate large aircraft since B-36 sank the USS United States. -

Thog:: Most likely -- exactly how untrained or inexperienced fighter pilots attacked the real things, back in the day. What do HyperLobby newbies try when flying P-40s against Ki-27s in that sim? The same thing the Flying Tiger P-40 pilots tried (only one time) against Ki-27s in violation of Chennault's orders. Turnfight! The *similarity* ends there of course!! AVG pilots got shot up, fortunately by small caliber MG, and listened to Chennault after that. -

Ah, found it from some years back. A diary by Amelia Bourne-Phipps, mentioning this K-7 monster. I don't think it ever left USSR, so I'd guess Amelia was there at the time. Here's the rub... -

Zero vs B-17 -- Bf-109Dora vs K-7 -- 1930s ~> fighter arms were still mainly small calibre MG. We discuss "B-29" for the Ilya Moruomets~esuqe *looks* only...crew in glass nose. You have to visit the site (or another) to see what it looked like. -

This thing began to approach Zeppelin size. K-7 aroused intense interest among the public roundabout Stalingrad during the test flights, until the crash. viper:: I dunno m8/m8ette. Zero vs B-17. Aircraft arms were still mostly machine guns in the 1930s. Sikorsky's Ilya Moroumetz's had a positive kill ratio against German scouts. It was the "B-29" of 1915 doing alot of big ugly compensation over and behind the frontlines. Ah found it...B-29 time travel back to 1914 ~> http://www.ctrl-c.liu.se/misc/ram/ilyamour.html -

Instructions for B-36 stargetic cockpit

RF-107A (?) with four underwing drop tanks along with the under belly conformal tank. If anybody is reading this and knows: In the weapon pacs, do drop tank masses include the fuel mass, while the fuel's mass is used also? -

Something new: F-107A stargetically enhanced (or retarded, sometimes I wonder). I use the F-8D panels from Mirage Factory but with light grey background. The round panel shape gives the rough idea found at http://uscockpits.com/. I'll assume USAF "favours" F-105 but with all the ongoing strikes on USSR, there is a need for an RF-101A replacement. So I made the F-8D radar into RWR display, and use four 335gal F-100 tanks. I figure nose cameras, delete guns (and gunsight), replace with cameras or maybe MORE fuel. The idea has a "real" ring: The top fuselage intake was to help drop nuc bombs, and the plane ends up being heavily used purely as recon. Sounds like the way things happen. I wonder how F-107 would be like with original intake underneath, similar to the later, and smaller, MiG Ye-8. Direct inspiration for using F-107 like this is RF-100A ~> http://www.spyflight.co.uk/f100.htm Only six made, but very well used indeed. I use ravenclaw's Martin Baker seat. I retreated with tail between LeGGs back to SF Patch 2006, so I had to change over the canopy animation to the old method. Here the canopy is open on the ground. -
Install! That can be bad too. Full SF moon in Scorpius. Thanks Uber Sabre Team.

help! were i can find a mission creator....
Lexx_Luthor replied to warrior94's topic in Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
KMD *looks* simple, but its VERY fast and efficient once you learn how it turns tricks. I gave up learning "LMD" because you have to click the Mirage III pic everytime to get into it. Never NEVER do this in art or software. Always be invisible to the user. -
That would make stuff like Pye Wacket usable in the sim. There is no way to target incoming missiles in the sim, not yet anyways.
-
Ah yes, here ~> RF100A http://www.spyflight.co.uk/f100.htm
-
Trying to think of a use for this. It *looks* so EdwardsAFB~esque, therefore it is Smooth, so it must be used in a campaign. Would be fun in one of those merc/fantasy campaigns. Maybe as recon only (small nose). F-107 could carry alot. RF-100A carried 4 drop tanks, no guns. I didn't know that. Only six or so made though.

RAF Lightning F.Mk6 on some of the problems
Lexx_Luthor replied to a topic in Mods/Skinning Discussion
I use Thudwire F-4 pit panels inside Lightning external model. More here, scroll down some ~> http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.p...a&start=288 The curved rear canopy edge is very nice (F4D Skyray has similar curved rear canopy). Lightning model canopy open.
