I know this man, my bad. I forgot the Russian Bear bombers just to say. In fact Ace Combat Zero does make use of these NATO nicknames, a/c codes.

I'm not a lawyer too, but I remember exactly how Namco got many aircraft licensed, with the exception of Russian ones, so you'll see Su-27 or MiG-29 but no Flanker or Fulcrum names. As far as I can tell you can use designations like F-14D with no problem, since there is an indie game being developed for PC called Vector Thrust and it doesn't have any license for any of its aircraft.

Thanks Wrench, actually I know it's mainly a layer thing, I'm pretty experienced with Photoshop, but tiling is still an issue for me, mainly because the edges of a river tile may not fit the one next to it, I don't know how to explain my problem with easy words. Anyway JSF_Aggie is planning to make these at a later time, so no worries; however if you have a link to a tutorial here or anything else, I'd appreciate it, just PM me.

North Cape summer tiles?
Menrva replied to Viggen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Unfortunately there aren't any, the North Cape terrain really needs an hi-res tileset, IMHO is one of the best terrain ever made for SF2 (Baltika managed to tile Norway with such precision), although it is still unfinished (some targets and airbases still missing). -
Sarcasm 2.0 Beta By Stary

JSF_Aggie, maybe I didn't explain what I meant well. I've never said that your heightmap is wrong (instead, it is so great and accurate, everyone would agree), all I'm saying is that the clouds' altitude goes in conflict with terrains with high elevations, such as yours or Himalaya, as Wrench suggested in the thread you posted above. -
Sarcasm 2.0 Beta By Stary
Menrva replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yep, I can confirm it has something to do with the heightmap. The terrain Russo showed is JSF_Aggie's Southern California. To overcome that problem, JSF_Aggie included with the download a modded ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.ini used specifically by that terrain, called SWUS_ENVSYS_STOCK.ini. One just needs to make a copy of the one by Stary and mod the height values, then this modded copy has to be put inside the terrain and renamed accordingly. Stary, many thanks for your incredible efforts to improve the game looks. If only we could have SF2NA style reflective water shader... -
I'd love to assist but I was mistaken when I said that I fixed the water humps problem (that was with another terrain), so we need Wrench to help too. @ Wrench I can open the .HFD with Gerwin's tool, it shows with no problems (IIRC in the past you said it didn't show at all when exported to bitmap with TW's TE). However the HFD doesn't show water humps or any particular oddities. I'm starting to think that something is wrong with the _HM bitmaps, if any are used, and I'm not too expert with these. EDIT: Anyway I have modded the original _DATA.ini, maybe I have fixed such issues involuntarily, recently I'm out of the SF2 world so now I can't check. If you guys want to take a look at it just tell me and I'll post the relevant .inis I have updated. Be advised, the DATA .ini calls for .jpeg textures (I have converted these).

Wrench, I don't know if you remember, but long time ago I asked you if I could rework your Iran/Iraq terrain (which is now on hold) and you gave me permission, after all I asked you first if I could modify it. I really don't understand why A-Team used your stuff without asking for permission, although you made that little mistake in the ReadMe file, your position about your terrain mods is very clear in the CombatACE freeware thread. Like Stary, I don't want to see a war between sites, but Wrench could ask for the removal of that terrain from their package (they could use an old one without Wrench's great efforts and updates). We have many eburger's mods that support A-Team planes but to have them you have to download them at their site. If there is a site that is respectful of rules that is CombatACE.

Spool, your screenshots look superb! Are you using SweetFX or what? Sorry gents, I know the rule is to post some screenshots, but since my joystick broke I stopped playing SF2 for a while. Playing it with the keyboard is blasphemy. -
Stary is right, but not long ago Baltika started his own version and it looked pretty good, although he experienced the same problems with tiling (anyway both terrains were for Cold War, not WW2). Probably we will never see one finished, it's a very complex area and making terrains is already very time consuming, but I also think it's a terrain SF2 cries for.

I agree, actually it was really dangerous back then. IIRC the stuntman/director of the original Gone In 60 Seconds died in a crash during the making of the sequel which obviously was never completed after what happened.

I've just read the info on the news, it seems there are many still missing, because of this I can't watch the video. EDIT: Number of passengers aboard is roughly 58 btw.

Thanks for posting this, a truly touching story. -

Menrva replied to russouk2004's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
This terrain is known to have HFD and tiling issues, it was one of the first terrains made for the first SF generation. I suggest you to check JSF_Aggie's remake of the Southern California terrain, it should be available in the SF2 terrain downloads section. The area depicted is the same, it only doesn't have any cities or fictional targets but includes new realistic airbase layouts as well as target ranges. EDIT: apologies since I intervened, your post was for Wrench. -

Just awesome! It requires lots of skills, I have never thought archery could be so 'effective'.
