Thanks for the info, Wrench. I once tried TW's Terrain Editor with the function Adjust Sea Level, it worked great on another WIP map of mine, although as the name implies it works only for the sea areas, IIRC. I'll have to ask Centurion-1 about the tileset then. However it seems he is not around here recently.

Thanks Stary. I've just put these updates in my mod folder, and started the game. I decided to fly a Sabre over your new Korea tileset, but I noticed that the Sabre had no gunsight in the cockpit (it does have it however in the cockpit.ini). Is it possible that it has something to do with the gunsight material properties which you have changed in the AIRCRAFTOBJECT.INI (yes, I've opened it, I'm curious)?

Thanks guys! I'll use this thread to keep you posted about it. I'll see what I'll do in the next days, probably I'll start adding the damned rivers in Iraq. Stratos, keep working on your terrain repaint, mine one is still in the works and will be for a long time, I think, due to RL. Moreover, my new transition tiles use a mixture of Centurion-1's and JSF-Aggie's tiles, so I'd need their permission to use their work first, before releasing anything.

Who needs DCS World? Seriously the level of detail of this tileset is so high that I will stare at the terrain, rather than flying over it. Wonderful job as always, Stary!

Here's my progress on the complete map revamp so far. I've spent the last days making over 40 or more transition tiles, and hand-tiling the Caspian Sea, the Caspian Sea coast, Lake Urmia, Lake Van and some of the snowy mountain peaks. Still a lot to do though, don't pay attention to the blue dots inside The Wall, those are placeholders.. Zagros Mountains Tehran Caspian Sea and inland Lake Urmia Lake Van, Turkey

IIRC there are many other things in the .DLL files that may be tested, we should make a separate thread about all the additional strings in the DLLs which are not used by default in the game. -
Wrench, do you have a photoshop template (.psd file I mean) of the IR2003 terrain tileset? I need to create some transition tiles for the sea. If not nevermind, I'll do it the hard way.
-
I'd rather release the map at the moment if I were you, then we can all focus on the mod, maybe we should ask Centurion about it. BTW good job with the tileset, I saw your screenshots, good looking terrain. In other news, I hope you don't mind if I resumed the work on my revamped map, I need to add the damned rivers and roads (btw I made new hi-res transition tiles for them just yesterday using JSF_Aggie's Alternative DS tileset), but overall, I managed to get the Caspian Sea right and the targets need some little fixing. Don't worry, for my map there is still a long way to, so your map is needed anyway. EDIT: Centurion was working on the mod, while regarding the terrain he was just creating and expanding the original tileset, since he came to know about my revamp. Now I really decided to finish the terrain in my little free time, let's hope someone else gets interest in building a mod package regarding the 8 years war between Iraq and Iran.

I live in Southern Europe, and as far as I can tell the situation is the same here too, actually I don't know if I should feel offended because you separated Europe from Southern Europe, the South is in the EU as the East, the West, the North (I know it wasn't your intention, I've just had a bad day). Seriously, I don't blame the governments, instead I blame the people who voted such governments. What is happening in the East (see Hungary for instance) is not good at all, and something bad is going to happen sooner or later. The EU failed years ago, especially when it allowed some countries from the ex-Soviet bloc to enter. Regarding migrants, I find it remarkable that Germany and my Italy (the once two fascist countries back in WW2) have decided (although with strong opposition) to save them; moreover Germany has decided to take this leading role even though it has not caused the recent chaos in the Middle East, nor has bombed Libya, which instead other countries, including mine, have done, destabilizing for no reason entire populations. All in all I almost want to see Europe cry and fall, it's what we deserve if we are honest to ourselves. With extreme right wing parties on the rise, I think I can say we are all doomed now, it's 1900s all over again.

You got that right, it's a pity there won't be other F-22s (although in case of a war things would obviously change), considering that the Raptors are effective even for multirole operations. The F-35 IMHO was necessary only for the Navy and the Marines, but using it as a replacement for other aircraft in the USAF's inventory is not a good idea. I will miss the A-10, and as far as I can tell I don't think the Russians are going to replace the Su-25 atm.

I was looking forward to this, the F-22s might be pivotal in this new Cold War...

I've just downloaded the latest version and added it to my mod folder, many thanks to everyone involved! Viper, are you planning to do the F-111D variant too? I have it in my mod folder, and I have no idea which cockpit to use, the one with or without WSO's radar hood (I'd really like to know which are the differences between the F-111 variants)

Nice find, LeL! -
If you followed the steps I described above, you should find the saved preset in a folder with the name that you chose, the folder is located in ...\ReShade\PersonalFiles\Presets Compress the folder and then redistribute it; check the one I've attached at post #8, that is my preset. So follow steps #3 and #4 (#4 only for the preset selection, you can select all the presets you have already)

Sure thing Stary, it seems these are the files I need, thank you very much, I hope I can conclude something. BTW, below here two screenshots I've just made, with my modded SF2. I'm using a modded EnvironmentSystem.ini and I've borrowed the new overcast layer texture form your SARCASM, as a test. Anyway, as you can see there are clouds, but for some reason they are showed right below the overcast layer (locked height as it happened in one of the patches I guess). -

IIRC in my modded WideSky EnvironmentSystem.ini clouds do appear in both overcast and inclement, I guess it has something to do with transparency values in both the .ini and in the alpha channel of the .tga files EDIT: I'll check it and post any results here, I'm pretty sure it's fixable. BTW I should have added that in my modded install clouds do appear in such weather conditions, but they are almost transparent, which I guess it's something that happens by default. -

I already had some of the old engine, they were posted by you at another thread a lot of time ago, in fact these shaders I have are dated 2010. The ones you attached are more recent so they should be better for use. I also need those three shaders too, it's great news that you have them (after all I should have guessed that you had them, IIRC you managed to make some LOD terrains). -

Bad news about these shaders, Stary. I've just noticed that the ones you gave me are the ones that are being used by old engine terrains. According to the ICELANDNA_DATA.ini file, these are the three shaders used by the terrain: iceland_WaterEffect.fx iceland_TerrainEffect.fx iceland_Waves.fx As far as I can remember these shaders should be inside the IcelandNA.cat, while the general common ones are from the FlightData.cat. I think such three shaders have always been locked since SF2NA was released, then TK decided to lock the old ones as well -

Thanks for the shaders and the SARCASM update, Stary. I'll see what I can do, no promises since I have a love-hate relationship with C++, but thankfully my passion for SF2 might help. -

Exactly Stary, if only we had comments written inside these shaders... Speaking of which, have you ever managed to get those locked shaders in the IcelandNA terrain? Thing is I've learned C++, I'm no expert but, if we could take a look at them I could try to fix the reflective water in the old engine based terrains. I'm aware of the bugs that happen if you try the SF2NA water shaders on the old engine terrains, I've once tried to make an old engine terrain use the IcelandNA .cat so that it would use such shaders, what a mess it was.
