  1. You tried simply disconnecting you puter from the web when you want to play? In the past (before I knew what I was doing with Steam) occasionally I'd have a game that would look for updates before starting, disconnecting bypassed that 10 minute wait for it's stupid, badly written patching program to work. I know it's a principle of "you shouldn't have to", but it should work.
  2. One of the papers here asked the bully if he felt sorry for picking on Casey (the chubby kid), he said he didn't. Lets put this into perspective. The fat kid's a hero across the world now and thanks to social media, the bully has no end of people wanting to kick his ass. I'd rethink the whole "being a dickhead" thing when most of the world wants beat you, but that's just me. There's a lesson in this for Gaddafi methinks.
  3. Yeah, just saw that too Dave. France Intervenes...
  4. This happened around 90 minutes ago, give or take. ABC News, Australia link
  5. CS 1.6...? Jesus... That was a long time ago.
  6. File was still showing up, so I've hidden it for now, but yeah, it was a straight Marcfighters rip, Readme and all.
  7. Same here. Own 32 games and never ever had a problem with Steam. For the ones I have a DVD for, I can always reinstall with those when I need and it's much quicker than re-downloading again. Spark, I don't know what your specific problem with the automatic upgrade toggle is, but I've never had that problem and even if a game you own begins updating, you should be able to pause the update and continue to play it. I've done that a tonne of times with my games. AFAIK, it doesn't actually apply the patch until you go to play after the patch has finished downloading. If the update is a game breaker, it may be on the Dev side, not necessarily Steam. Double check their product websites as I know Dev updates not being 100% compatible with Steam have been an issue in the past (COD 4 springs to mind). Come to think of it, I tell a lie. The only game I've had an issue with in regards to Steam was Wings of Prey, and that was a Yu-Play issue anyways.
  8. A little background on this. Big guy's name is Casey, a yr 10 student, has been bullied for the better part of the 3 years he's been at high school. That little, rat, POS yr 7 punk who got body slammed has been allegedly been harassing him since the start of the year with his big hero buddies (because a fight isn't fair unless it's 7:1). Despite repeatedly trying to back out of the fight, Casey finally snapped. Both boys have since been suspended for 4 days and Casey's response has gone seriously viral. There are multiple groups on Facebook in support of him as well as a website in support of him looking to set up a college fund for him from the US. There are also several groups made about the bully, all wanting to kick his arse or variations of. Shortly after this video went viral, details of the bully were posted online including his home address and telephone numbers. Unfortunately though, as often happens in these situations, the phone number released on one of these sites/ FB groups that has been bombarded with nasty, abusive calls is actually the number of an elderly couple, a cancer survivor and his sick wife who have no connection to the bully at all. News article and Sky news video here: Two interesting things I've heard from earlier today. The official school line says that the only injury was a scraped knee however the bully allegedly has either a fractured or broken ankle according to a late news program I was watching earlier this evening. Secondly, the bully's parents allegedly want to sue Casey, however, as was said on the late news program they have no grounds to do so as the video quite clearly shows the bully and his buddies as the tormentors in the situation. Casey could sue the bully, but by the looks of it, life already sued the bully and he lost badly. Personally, whilst no fan of watching kids beat the snot out of each other, I say kudos to Casey. It's not easy standing up to 'heros' like these wankers, especially when out numbered. It was a hell of a move and he certainly made an example of this little punkass. And given how famous he is now, I don't think anyone will be messing with him any time soon...
  9. It is nicer.
  10. Well, yeah, there's the shadow thing too, but yeah, but it's the ROKAF part. I mean, the camo should have jumped out at me straight away what with USAF C-130s more commonly found in a low-viz grey these days. But I though it odd being rescued in a ROKAF C-130 when this part of the game takes place in the North East of the US. Yeah... a bit of a "what the..." moment in between the hordes of infected kicking our butts during the refuelling phase.
  11. So, a big fan of L4D here. I had a sickie the other week and noticed something a little odd while I was playing. Tell me if you notice it. This is very end of Dead Air...
  12. You're back? Dude, I thought you were dead... or arrested. :p

  13. These people, without a single exception are utter, utter scumbags. Let it go!! It was a long damn time ago and your two countries have since moved on. That said, here's hoping it stays stable enough for the authorities to beable to effect a rescue. I think last I read, there were something like 10k missing. And then there are the reactors that are in some serious trouble, for example. This is truly awful! I've got old exchange student buddies who've been saying similar stuff Sid. It's harrowing stuff. You take care dude! Remember to keep food and water on you at all times!
  14. Where's that pub in the UK with the Sea Harrier in the beer garden? Wouldn't mind nicking that for my lawn after a few bevvies.
  15. Well I would have seen it if I'd been able to get in the front door Dave, but you bloody changed the bloody locks again! Anyways, I didn't notice that until a while after I'd already posted this... Oops. ...and then my interwebz dropped out for a bit. ...look, why don't we just chalk this up to a miscommunication and blame it on Baghdad Bob? Cool? Then it's settled.
  16. Yeah, I'm still getting that. I know that's happened to users in the past. Wasn't part of the solution was something to do with clearing out the cache and something else...?
  17. Yeah, we went through something similar back in 2k with our mascots. I think like all olympic mascots, they were cheap, uninteresting and indicative of marketing focus on something that was once a sporting event... at some point.
  18. Yeah, there's really no surprise about this. Boeing was never going to lose this bid any more than we could see the USAF buying Chengdu J-10s at any point. In a country that essentially invented and defined the airliner, it just seemed politically untouchable to me (Too 'European' in the home of Boeing), despite winning the initial go-ahead. I dunno, that's just how it seemed to me...
  19. Yeah, there's an opinion (that quite a few people would share it seems) in Whitehall that the SDSR didn't go far enough. Personally, I think if you want to save money, killing capability isn't the answer. Defence contractors have been milking governments for too long and need to be brought in line, unfortunately governments need them more than the contractors need governments, and they know this. Plus it doesn't help that those in power don't know what they're doing when it comes to defence and (maybe) don't attack these problems as seriously (and hence, get taken for a ride)as they would economic or legal matters where the experts would be approached immediately. End of rant.
  20. I thought it was pretty cool that a couple of colonels were ordered to take of and strafe an ammo dump (these can often be mistaken for funeral processions apparently, must be the heat) and instead, they flew their Mirage F-1s to Malta! Outstanding work guys! Suffice to say, there are many people alive tonight who wouldn't be if they simply followed their orders. I hate to think of the grief their families might now experience though...
  21. Christchurch was hit by a 6.3 quake today, causing massive damage to most of the city and surrounding areas. This is the second major quake to hit NZ in 5 months. I know there are a lot of people mobilising on this side of the Tasman to fly over to anything they can to assist our Kiwi cousins. Here's hoping the death toll won't increase, unfortunately, New Zealanders are being told to expect more grim news. This is a dark day indeed and our thoughts are with you. News Link:
  22. You're not the only one!
  23. ...Ouch! Sounds like someone said he was going to call and didn't.
  24. Loving it! Dunno why, but it keeps reminding me of the Peacemaker UCAV from the movie Deal of the Century.
