  1. ...or was it the US and she spoke Pom...? Can't rememeber. 10 years is a long time.
  2. This accent thing is a real conditon, I've only heard of a few instances in the past 15 years, but it has the very technical name: "Foreign Accents Syndrome". It usually involves someone having some kind of injury or mishap with their brain. I remember a woman in the UK (yep, the UK again) having a mild heart attack in her sleep and waking up sleeping in an Afrikaner accent...
  3. As far as I know, your best bet would be to lower your object detail settings in-game. The other options you mentioned would require too much of a rebuild, particularly the polycount/model issue.
  4. Heya Gary! Heh!

  5. Haha! Awesome!
  6. I'm down. I'll PM you my Steam details if you're up for a game sometime.
  7. What a crock of sh*t! What next? Weapons of mass destruction weren't found in Iraq because certain ethnic groups in the military are lazy? Women shouldn't serve on ships because the men won't be able to control themselves?? I'm thinking this guy's in the same league as the douche who would hire pedos and murderers over former soldiers... Srebrenica fall linked to gay soldiers
  8. I dunno, I can see where he's coming from, although he did go about it in a pretty ham-fisted, generalised kinda way. I see some older diggers at the RSL from time to time who went through some crazy sh*t in their fights, but still act as though the peoples of Vietnam or Japan, etc, now are the exact same people they fought against 40/60 years ago and that certainly ain't the case. Note I do not say all diggers, but some. By and large, they're a pretty awesome bunch!
  9. Yeah, half the stuff is restricted to US and Canada only. I got that problem with NBC a lot too. There's always EZTV, but...
  10. Can you believe this guy? He's got balls, but I'd beck checking under my car before I go to work from now on... Boss Karl Winn would rather hire paedophiles than former soldiers
  11. Damn... Silverbolt beat me to it!
  12. The J-10 will be able to mix it up and then some! It'll totally outclass the Ching Kuo.
  13. If you ask Lindr very, very nicely...
  14. Ooh... dual dumps and burn. The Yobbos are gonna love that, and we'll be out 26 more strike platforms! lol
  15. Apparently there is a bit of a grudge match taking place between the government and the RAAF, nay, the ADF in general right now. The ADF future planners want the latest and best US equipment, regardless of cost (case in point, The F-35 and post-Collins subs) and the Government, irrespective of which party has been in power over the past 25 years, has been trying to get them to compromise between capability and cost but has been shooting itself in the foot by getting into bed with contractors and lobbyists, when it hasn't been cutting it's budget for short term gains. But what really surprised me was the availability of the Hornets and F-111s. For years, especially during the previous conservative government, there was this absolute fear amongst the government that there would be a major F-111 accident and they moved heaven and earth to retire them as soon as possibly, despite their being one of the most capable strike platforms in the region and apparently increasingly expensive to maintain, despite the US offering to sell spares and engines at cost or otherwise greatly reduced rates. Consequently, our Hornets have had to pick up the slack as, unofficially at least, the F-111s would never be deployed overseas again and would have to fill operational requirements in theaters such as Iraq and now it's coming back to bite us in the arse with low availability rates, although the numbers I heard thrown around from RAAF/Industry buddies here being 27. It just seems bizarrely interesting to me to keep a platform in service that is never to be used, outside of being a loud, pyrotechnic display for yobbos at Grand Prixs and Supercar series meets. I'm wondering if our new SuperBugs are going to be modded with a fuel dump between the engine nacelles...
  16. I thought the C-17s were proving themselves to be less rugged than they were advertised and as a result, their maintenance costs soaring...?
  17. Read this article in the Oz (The Australian) a few weeks ago. It's interesting reading considering considering.... Source:
  18. India's also about to sign (or has signed) a deal to purchase something like 20ish C-17s as well... Edit: Oops, that was actually a request for the C-17. I think they made the right choice on the 29K, it's so far removed from the early models of the 29 that comparing the two would be a perilous and unwise decision for any military planner.
  19. You guys see that his wife and daughter got severely effed up in a car wreck in the last 24 hours or so?? Found that out when I was finding out who he was...
  20. Did Northrop/EADS bail because one of the new requirements in the Tender was a stipulation that Boeing has to make it...? Besides, all the articles I've been reading seem to state the KC-30 contender beat Boeing's ass black and blue before the post tender alterations (the bending of the rules in Boeing's favour) took place.
  21. HAPPY BIRTHDAY NESHER!!!!!
  22. Whoa whoa whoa, lets just get one thing straight. I'm not defending him whatsoever. His objectivity has always been in question because he's a lobbyist for the (small) pro-F-22 lobby over here (and yeah, fundamental rule of credibility, being self-referential is a big fail). He does make a few vague points (whether he means to or not) about LR strike being a much more difficult tasking in this day and age when one considers the potential threats emerging in the S-SE Asian region with regards to advanced model Flankers becoming more common place and that the RAAF is close to losing (or has lost) it's technical superiority... which will no doubt be restored with the acuisition of the F-35. But expecting it to do what the F-111 has done in the past is flawed reasoning to begin with just as is expecting to have USAF B-1Bs participating in Jimmy Doolittle style raids, given the nature of operational requirements and the ability to deploy in theatres of conflict such as Afghanistan and Iraq. And this is something he doesn't do, otherwise you'd read about how the F-111 hasn't deployed to operational theatres. No, he just bangs on about how nothing compares to the F-22 and that's what we should have, forgetting for the moment that each F-22 costs about as much as it would to build a new ANZAC class Frigate. And I'd like to know exactly where he's getting his info on the T-50 given that not even groups like Jane's have much of an idea of what the T-50 is capable of just yet. He just gives me the impression of an advid war games player, especially if you see what he has to say about China and the PLAAF/PLAN. And about the Vulcan... alls I'm saying is that it was a big, versitile, capable platform with legs long than Manute Bol (He was 7'7") that could have proven itself time and again. I mean, case in point: The B-52 has for more than 50 years. True, you don't see Buffs in the weeds any more, but that's not their major tasking these days.
  23. He's not trashing the F-35 per se just that, in his conclusion, the F-35 is the wrong choice to fill the role of one of the aircraft it's replacing. And in many ways he's right. There were similar debates in the UK in the 80s about replacing the Avro Vulcan with Tornado GR series. He's also a proponent of lobbying for the acquisition of the F-22. But all I'll say about lobbying the US for the F-22 is that you can hope in one hand and crap in the other; See which fills up first.
  24. I thought it was more fun than BF2, but not as fun as GRAW 2... $7.50's a pretty good price.
  25. Those J-10s always look fantastic!
