  1. cougar, it does feel kinda heavy come to think of it, admittedly i've not got proficient enough in it to say about tactics, but it seems to hold itself well enough against AI fagots defensively at least..

  3. Ok the meteor got my interest. Took it up against fagots. Wow this thing handles extremely well, the rolls are ultra crisp and doesn't bleed much at all in turns. The quad 20mil are deadly as usual. The uprated engines since ww2 doesn't lack thrust either. Merged at about 20k ft and all there's to do was turn with the swept winged migs and the AI obliged easily. At the end I only got one of them, the rest are all finished off by my wingies! Then another pair of migs joined the fray, they managed to get behind no.4, but was quickly dispatched by myself and no.3. As a turn fighter this thing seems extremely dangerous in AI's hands. If only its speed is not capped at mach .8 due to the straight wings...
  4. strongly agree, even weathers with con layers i'm reluctant to take. one is it divides the usable altitude block in 2, another is sometimes a bandit will just stay in the soup forever, 30 minutes later you finally got him but all the other migs have left the party! p.s. just found that clouds will restrict AI's LOS, well done TK...

  6. I reckon the base question atm is whether it happens to stock SF2NA? If yes must be system level prob, if not it's the mods. After that's figured out you starting diving into the issue...
  7. I wonder why the sudden increase in downloads... tk stops new patches and mods serve the updating needs?... How about limiting bandwith and/or further limit downloads per day, then the bigger mods like >100mb goes to pay per down and use some file hosting sites like mediafire like the il2 mods.

  11. i got myself into that 2 weeks back :p it is purely messing because without proper FM knowledge, it's just a process of changing a few numbers, go into the game, fly it to see if it works out, close game and edit again. reason was i somehow found a love for the fagot! but turns out the CDL (drag due to lift) in the fm was so huge it couldn't afford much maneuvering at all even in the vertical before stalling out, after which the sabre flys circles around it. after some tweaks i think the desired result is achieved atm where one out flys the other in the vertical, one the horizontal. it seems the fights are like that nowadays already!.. with HOBS short range missiles and helmet mounted sights, you just pull the nose toward the bandit, look at him (mwahahaha:D) and let one loose. so whoever has the best SA + instantaneous turn rate comes out on top immediately. modern tech is so deadly... otoh i think the first turn or one's "entry state" has always been important even in the old days, because the t/w ratio is relatively limited that whatever advantage you begin with will probably carry over to the end or can afford one more mistakes. eh.. i'm mostly retired from modern jets these days, but love to read the reports, plz keep them coming! and nice flying there caesar didn't think that one was even beatable seeing its uberness! anyway stay tuned for a new episode of... this time Mig vs Sabre. After my rl schedule clears up a bit.
  12. happy user of MS security essentials too. only hope is it lasts as it seems these things rarely do... i remember avast quite nice some 2 yrs ago. doesn't the SF2 exe check new game updates when it launches (and downloads it with user consent). i guess avast sees it a trojan?..
  13. eeheh good ol' thunderbolt!... but hell the eagle and tomcats for that matter are so excellent bvr platforms they're sorta wasted close in. my last flights in falcon was the online pvp on the north side so went up against the wall of eagles. we're maneuvering above 30k ft just trying to keep the viper afloat, while the f-15s on the other side was lofting slammers our way from 50k doing mach1.4 or something thereabouts... when ya fly the f-16 for long a mental note takes place that 30k is high as you go for normal ops but apparently the big guys are in a completely different realm, above that the viper feels like a brick and the eagle is like a kite with power!...
  14. hey yeah molnibalage, did remember that.. besides what u said, in the world where source code could be modded it became somewhat a data hack imo, plus the restricted AoA would be on the player too when he's in control. don't you find the F-15 FM in falcon does bleed ultra fast once past a certain alpha, altho the rl jet indeed is a flying tennis court or so they say so gotta keep it fast.

  17. ^ yep I've checked out DCS. Would be nice to get some MP in. But it still got the old "empty" feeling to me... dunno. About SF, I guess we have different definitions of "lite". But reason I like it is it's got atmo... campaign is (semi) dynamic, quite well done with all the chatters and whatnot. Throw in some challenging AI you got a good game. Pits, avionics, FM, Multiplayer.... many other sims do 'em a lot better like DCS, falcon, jane's. Depends on what one prefers i guess. might move in on the DCS Sabre after they fixed the Mig-15 FM anyway. will see...
  18. Streak, I get what you mean, kinda harsh to bash SF due to lack of a control knob. But it's more to do with me having flown the modern era to death, lest of joining the aviation industry I don't think there's anything more significant to learn out there so SF's liteness just doesn't resonate. But an early jet age where none of the shiny new toys have came to known, based on a immersive game engine, hey can't find one anywhere else atm.
  19. I consider anything to do with radars in SF unrealistic... Since TK did not implement radar antenna elevation, for a start. It's either props or 50s jets for me. The dogfighting AI puts up a challenge... compared to the missile dodging one.

  21. stratos, guess my point was, one is due to radar modeling and the other the AI. come to think of it falcon AF hits the sweet spot for sparrows. it's even got updated FMs for them and models missile mechanical and warhead failures. eeeh...
  22. eh... I otoh think the sparrow in BMS is too weak. the issue is confounded by: there is some kink resided in bms' radar locks, causing STT and TTS (two target SAM) to break lock very often; once the lock is broken, the sparrow goes ballistic. about the first, it directly comes from RL viper pilots, the real radars don't lose lock nearly as much taken into account obvious factors like bandit beaming, chaffs etc. about the second, if my sources are correct, the M and later versions can resume tracking if radar lock is temporarily lost. but i'd love to hear some definitive info on it. for the sparrows in SF, i think it is more geared towards vietnam era, where missile mechanical failure and ground clutter is simulated, to the degree that it's the main reason for a miss; and the AI is dumb enough not to (significantly) beam or drag the msl, to reflect the early EW equipment and under developed msl fighting doctrines (or it's just Tk slacking off due to lack of money...), resulting in sparrows having a higher Pk. just my 2c.
