There's a mod here that does it Ejections TK is very opposed to, can't understand why because its a pretty simple thing. The canopy already comes off when the plane is destroyed or the pilot ejects, and IIRC the seat and pilot are a different LOD file. It can't be hard to script those two parts to shoot up on the Y axis and have a rocket like effect on the bottom when the plane is destroyed but the pilot wasn't killed. It's not only satisfaction, its usefull to see if your wingman survived getting hit, and its simply a matter of making the game look more polished (one of the criticisms of WOE I read in PC gamer when they reviewed it)

Well if you notice, its origins and original destination are XXXXXXXX, I would not be surprised if it was a PR person.

People are very interested in terrain, the problem is the TE is the most intimidating user unfriendly tool around and scares people off. Bandwidth to your site is a poor indicator, a better gauge would combatace's downloads, as its infinitely easier to just download everything from here than to go across everyone's individual pages.

Seeing no alternative to the Tomcat for the Navy( a rather correct assumption) Grumman overpriced the F-14D. Then Secretary of Defence Richard Cheney killed the program and her retirement was bumped up from 2010 to 2006 during Bush jr with the SH filling the gap until the JSF enters service. If you look around online, Grumman has put forward some plans for improved tomcats, even having major changes improving stealthiness and adding thrust vectoring. No, we can't always foresee and be prepared, but Germany was quite prepared for WW2, as were the Japanese. But the things I mentioned could have been easily avoided by anyone with half a brain. Take the original F-104, 2 wingtip sidewinders, no guns. It'd be like sending a tank into battle with 2 shells. Even with 100% accuracy and effectivemess, it's brainless against the soviet's larger numbers.

Deuces, get my PM? Source code is an issue, but something should be able to be worked out. The problem there is lawyers are very expensive, and it'd probably be more cost efficient to do it like he is now than to pay the legal fees. For the game, thats an issue, but if he released the code for the terrain editor, it would have profound effects on what he could offer as far as terrain. If he's essentially a one man team, Razbam and YAP charge for their work, the only real difference between him and any one of us is that he has access to the games code. For big projects (OTC, this Desert Storm thing, my Janes project) we don't make everything ourselves, we make use of whats already been done for aircraft, terrain, etc. Again it'd be no different than YAP, they include deuces effects and vietnam tiles and those are freely available, so it shouldn't be an issue.

You got something against the Navy or Hendrix, Wrench? -
It always has to be the hard way for our procurement people. We had nothing for WWI, we were way behind and made stupid choices for early WWII planes(like no turbosuperchargers= no high altitude performance), the early cold war and foresaking guns for unreliable missiles and now jack of all trades strike craft.

Thats a long, complicated story that would likely get this thread locked. The JSF is primarily an A2G aircraft as well. With the fall of the Soviet Union, the F-22, and the total lack of air opposition in both Iraqs and Afghanistan has left the people in charge of equipment to neglect the importance of air to air capabilities. A handful of Raptors can't handle all the air combat if there was a war with a country that could offer serious air opposition.

I'll second what Deuces just said. If he made real use of the community the whole series could be leaps and bounds ahead of anything the other sims offer. I'd also be willing to pay more, $40 or 50 it usually costs a brand new game, especially if it meant more support, activity and quicker advances.

Oh God, thats the worst song ever made, if you can even call that a song. The single seater doesn't need a new name, there was a single seater when they were testing the F-4 as the F4H-1 PHantom II. *runs off to blast Jimi Hendrix from the stereo to get that horrid crap out of my head* -
IIRC the F-16 had a problem with its avionics borrowed from the tomahawk cruise missile, where on approach it would flip over and crash into the ground like a cruise missile is supposed to do. Testing Sh#$ is dangerous, spaceships, cars, planes, helicopters, their cross species child thingy that is the osprey is no different. Though if those 30 marines lost have been since it went into service in september, then they might have a case against her. Doubt that though.

Igor's personal airplane Actually, it'd be really cool to see that bird in Israeli colors, with the new hump making room for all sorts of modern system upgrades and continue service. Maybe call it the F-4I or something. -
Thank you Column5 and tank for stating what many are obviously forgetting about. Why can't the highest settings allow for a more appealing look, with lower settings saving the performance for older systems, isn't that what graphics options are for? I'd say the same with avionics and whatnot. If I set it to "Hard" it'd be nice to be able to start and shut down engines for example, start on the tarmac, worry about stalls and spins and other things people ask for, but if it was set to easy, tada! no stalls, spins engine startup, just hit the afterburners and go. Options and choices keep everyone happy. And the more flexible the game is, the wider audience it can sell to.

I haven't bought the photo vietnam terrain, YAP uses Deuces terrain tiles so if you already have the photoreal ones, it would overwrite them unless you back them up. If you simply install them again they shouldn't conflict with YAP unless the photoreal terrain comes with any ini changes. -
A shame, a one man team with a small budget, I'd welcome such (I'm assuming free) help. Even if you worked out the legalities to protect his source he'd be opposed to it? Catering to the least common denominator as far as systems go isn't really a good idea. Sure more people run it, but it also limits sales from impulse buyers. If someone saw LOMAC and WOE on the shelves at bestbuy and wanted to give flight sims a try, they'd buy LOMAC because its by far prettier out of the box (except for afterburner effects that make the stock SF ones look fantastic). More detail without being cutting edge would be best.

FSX. the good old FSGenesis 9m resolution mesh might be a little much for strike fighters. But as I said, IL2 or CFS3 level would be an improvement enough, both with old graphics engines and still look pretty detailed at low levels. If TK could spare some money for a speedtree license, SF could do VERY dense folliage with the same level of detail, or slightly higher and still get fantastic performance. A little extra detail for HFD files and somewhat finer terrain tiling would go a long way. A more WYSIWYG terrain tool would help up visual quality even keeping resolution the same for everything. Being able to draw on roads, facilities and towns instead of the long/lat coordinates would allow a single person to add great detail to an area.

What about a sound card? onboard or seperate? Hell I have an uberbeast for a PC but an old audigy 2 for sound and the SAM calls every 5 seconds eat away performance. I can only imagine what its like for onboard sound.
