  1. Wow!! I guess I could not get a clearer, and more informative, response than that. Thanks Dej! And now that we have the HP I guess the SS DIII or IV better be in the works also. Or at least some of the lesser known, and used, Fokker variants that were used for defence against the HP's. Plus some Fokker DR.1 "home Defence" (Kests?) skins. Yes, I am greedy... Great screenshots.
  2. How common was the 2 gun Sopwith Triplane? I am a fan of this aircraft (ok,,,all WW1 aircraft) but I never fly this variant as my impression is it did not see a lot service being quickly, if not immediately, replaced by the Sopwith Camel though I will admit to not having numbers. How many actually saw front line service?
  3. Hehe. I would go for 56 Squadron in the late spring/summer of 1917. A very active and interesting unit that saw much action. Much attrition too but its my fantasy so I survive the war. 94th Squadron/USAS would be second choice in April 1918. Or maybe 60 Squadron early in 1917? Hmmmm.... MvR and Jasta 11 are also very high on my interest list but as a American I guess that would be considered traitorous! But if I was German that would be it starting in March 1917. P.S. Oddly - or perhaps not - I notice this "wish/fantasy" list mirrors my consistent list of start-up OFF pilots. Just need to add an RNAS Squadron in a Sop/Triplane. Naval 10.
  4. I guess what fascinates me here is the game mechanics (physics?) in action that put the whole thing in play. Plane catches fire so the AI observer decides to jump - or a CFS3 bail out to be more precise. The body is still tracked by the computer, has "mass", and then hits the players aircraft that registers this mass and then inflicts what would appear to be "realistic" (appropriate is probably a better word) damage to the aircraft. At least based on elephants screenshots. Very interesting to me and it shows the depth/sophistication of the OFF (CFS3?) programing. Very interesting!
  5. Sweet! Since my German pilot always flies with Jasta 11 this is much appreciated! Thanks Creaghorn.
  6. I have never posted a screenshot here either. Nor do I have a clue. But you can knock one thing off your list - I run OFF at the same resolution you do and everything look fine.
  7. Boy, it has been awful dead and dull around here for a couples days now. Took some time but I finally figured out what the problems is - Olham! The apparent sparkplug of our little forum here. I know he is taking care of his Mother but geesh...he must have some time for us...she has to sleep after all. Therefore I am starting an Emergency Fund to buy Olham a laptop with satellite modem. I called my local TV station about a marathon but they seemed uninterested! Jerks! Therefor I am requesting OFF'ers here drop money wrapped in a silk scarf, while on patrol, addressed to Lt. DukeIronHand / 56 Squadron at Vert Galand aerodrome. If you are flying for the Huns just paint the word "Olham" on your wings and a truce is guaranteed. Please hurry!!
  8. I would say "yes" to the above but you may want to check the "Skins" section here - there are a lot of skins and perhaps one you would like - unless you are handy with graphics editing that is and you could make the color whatever you wish.
  9. A "cut n paste" from the FAQ Section: "Go to your desktop and right click on it somewhere empty, select Display Properties. Click Advanced. Change the DPI settings from whatever it is to 120 or 96. Try OFF again. It may need a reboot first." Hope it helps. EDIT: In re-reading your original post this may not be what you need but it wouldn't hurt to doublecheck. If not post a screenshot if possible and perhaps some of the real gurus can assist.
  10. Do a search for "font" and "DPI setting". I recall others having a unreadable text problem and IIRC your font DPI has to set to, at least, 96. This is by memory so please double check.
  11. Well that would explain much!!! Thanks again RAF_Louvert. Your getting to be my hero around here!
  12. S! You are the man RAF_Louvert! Many thanks for your work on this - it is exactly what I had in mind. Have to work this weekend (stupid real life) but Monday I can't wait to fly and fight to earn some of these decorations. Again S!
  13. I like to think I am not stupid but I have read the Help file, pushed the Help button, and searched here. I read it but am not getting it. 14. Excellent! Thank you very much for your dedication and work to keeping OFF great.
  15. With RAF_Louvert's outstanding new medal mod I began to ponder after reading the "Readme" about how to award your pilot some of these medals via editing the pilot record text file. Does any brave soul wish to make a guide for the awarding of all the medals in RAF_Louvert's medal pack? Historically converted for OFF? For example - this medal is strictly for enlisted, this one is strictly for officers, this one was normally presented after 5 kills (historically based presentations) and/or this one should be for a barn buster mission where you accomplish all mission goals and shoot down X number of planes (history converted to OFF terms), etc, etc. Anyone willing to give it a crack?
  16. Thanks again gentleman, for all the information. It is quite refreshing to get a straight (and coherent) answer from the developers of any sim...but of course the OFF Team has always been a cut above the pack in any case! Keep up the great work on a great sim! S! Edit: Double post
  17. You are not coming across wrong at all and I hear what you are saying. To me, and in my experience, if I can adjust things to produce a high framerate, that is still visually pleasing, then other graphics induced "bumps in the road" (so to speak) tend to take care of themselves. The eye and fluid game play are of course the final word on the matter. P.S. If I wanted custom settings for OFF would I aim my Nividia Control Panel at the CFS3.exe or the OFFManager.exe? Edited to add the P.S. again. I am quite curious.
  18. Well, I'm no video wiz but in my Nividia Control Panel, for AA and AF, its either "Use application settings" which would be "off" (because they are not "on" via the CFS3/OFF program itself) or "on" at various levels via the Nividia Control Panel. And I thought when AA and AF are set "globally" they effect every program running on the computer. At least this is how I understand it - if I am incorrect then please help! P.S. If I wanted custom settings for OFF would I aim my Nividia Control Panel at the CFS3.exe or the OFFManger.exe?
  19. I guess I am just kind of surprised that my Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering settings are not having any kind of effect on framerates - either maxed or off framerates stay the same. Set to "High Quality" too in the Nvidia Control Panel. Based on the age of my system I am happy with the framerates I am achieving. I do try to keep it pretty "tweaked up". And I will say that with AA and AF either maxed or off I am not seeing a huge difference (if any) when looking at screenshots of my cockpit views. Is it possible that OFF is "running its own program" and disregarding my Nvidia Global Settings? It would seem unlikely.
  20. Tried your suggestion and did the 12 Spad v 12 Fokker scenario. Even with all the A/C in the air my framerate doubled but no matter what my video settings were at it stayed the same...about 40 in the cockpit view...weird. Exterior views the same also.
  21. Wife was watching a movie so I had a few hours. Decided that I would test various settings on my CP and video card to get the best framerates in OFF. My system is old but serviceable: Processor : Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.60GHz Memory : 512MB(Speed 533) Mother Board : 0K3464 Windows Version : Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 RAM : 2 GB Video Adapter : NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT Running OFF at 1280 x 1024 with settings of 5, 3, 2, 5, 5. In a attempt to get the same environment as possible I chose Free Flight (N17) and stayed on the ground (engine off) in the cockpit view. Did it enough times so the weather was not a factor, i.e., it was always cloudy with rain about half the time. Tried this multiple times with AlacrityPC running and not, GameBooster on and off, CPU hyper-threading on and off, AA set at 8xQ and off, AS (or is it AF?)set at 16x and off, etc, etc. Guess what? Much to my surprise my framerate never really changed. It stayed steady at 23 per the "Z" key, 19 in exterior view. In what situation or scenario does everyone use to check their framerates? Is my testing protocol (cockpit view while on the ground) flawed? I would have thought I would have seen a difference between all these settings. Obviously with many A/C in the air I will experience a drop in FR but it should be proportional to my test above - if I was seeing some kind of difference that is.
