  1. What kind of price are you asking for the set?
  2. I'm definately looking forward to the '39. Now I wanna see some pics of the Ka-50 and F/A-18. Unless they've scrapped that project and I never heard.
  3. Those are some badass pics. Looks like you guys have a bit of fun at basic.
  4. Thanks, now I gotta figure out a way to use that gig for file hosting, haha
  5. Got a question right quick, before you sign me up. Is this just for google's trial period, or what?
  6. Sam Dirickson samdirickson@yahoo.com
  7. I'll be commissioned in less than three years from now. I want to be certain there is a role for me to fulfill. I don't want to be led by someone I can't depend on. I want to know exactly how my future CinC handled his own tour of duty. In the end, every piece of information is important. As for serving as the occupying force in an enemy nation, I don't think any other country is as suited for the job as we are. No other country has our level of competence or training. I think our soldiers over there know and understand their duty better than us civilians do.
  8. BIA should be pretty good, hopefully. Unfortunately, I keep waiting for a WWII game as realistic as Raven Shield. Probably won't happen though, no one likes running into a single bullet and hitting the deck.
  9. So far, I'm unimpressed with the demo. The graphics are great, but the gameplay is pretty standard. I don't see anything that brings the game quality up from COD. I dunno, I think it just suffers from the Doom 3 syndrome. "Too much make-up and not enough beauty."
  10. I'd go for a Radeon card. Seems like most flight simmers nowadays use Radeon because of their OpenGL support.
  11. Even without trees, the ground mesh needs some type of object to increase the lowloevel depth and sense of speed. Plain textures won't do it. Powerlines, secluded little cottages, fences, even clumps of grass, something has to be there.
  12. I've always been disappointed with most sim's low level terrain. No matter how attractice the terrain looks from 20,000ft, if I don't see shrubs and ground objects wizzing by when I'm at 50ft, there's no realism there for me. Too bad there isn't any truly effectice way of doing that without a major blow to the fps.
  13. Awesome, I'll have to check those 4.9's out. At the moment though, Doom III is runnin hot and heavy, no problems. Well, no problems cept sweaty palms and swamp ass.
  14. Yeah, the sounds are excellent. You need a good set of speakers or headphones to appreciate it. Remember the first game that featured 3D sound? This is like the next generation almost.
  15. Screenshots won't do it justice. You have to see the game in action. The shadow and illumination effects are revolutionary, as well as the degree of depth they've managed toconvery using standard textures. I don't know how to describe it.
  16. Ha, never mind. I know the first suggestion would be to update my drivers. Which is exactly what I did. Fixed. Cat 4.8's. And yes, I do fly LOMAC.
  17. Doom keeps freezing and crashin on my comp. It'll play fine with killer fps, then suddenly it will freeze. Occasionally it freezes when I press esc to exit the game. Any suggestions? Intel P4 3.0ghz 1gig RAM Radeon 9800 PRO SB Audigy II WinXP SP2
  18. Like MBoT said, it definately depends on the pilot and the situation. YOu're feeling of gravity during a turn is highly dependent on how many G's you are pulling. In a break turn, the feeling is much the same as in a loop. Your eyes and head aren't gonna be concerned with the horizon, they'll be stuck with the aircraft. However, at low G's, when you can feel the tilt much easier, then your eyes will try to adjust it seems.
  19. Ka-50? Awesome! Finally, some new quality helo sims are gonna get released.
  20. If you haven't played it, Raven Shield is an excellent FPS. It has a solid campaign, and theres an addon out now which bumps up both the number of missions and weapons.
  21. Thats an awesome piece of property there, Chief. Lots of room for the animals to roam. Looks like you could even land a helicopter if you wanted.
  22. Holy s**t, dude. If you can bust out those kinda PT scores, then the mental won't be s**t. Trust me. When you go through basic, having a skill like that to fall back on is a life saver. Its so much easier getting through the mental aspects when you don't have to worry about the physical. Besides, its always a good anti-depressant watching other people screw up, lol.
  23. About the Coast Guard for a sec. If you want to be in command of a ship, the CG is the way to go. In the Navy, it might be 18 years before you get full command of a ship, and after that, you're off to a staff job. In the CG, you start rotating between CO and XO of increasingly large commands after as little as eight years.
  24. FHO is right about the Marine's having strict standards. They are second only to the AF. Talk to an Army and Navy recruiter as well, see what they can do. You might be able to make a service transfer. I have a friend with multiple arrests and things on his record, including drug usage, and he was able to get a waiver to enlist in the Army. Another had severe athsma and attempted suicide and she was able to enlist as well. And as a servicemember, you'll hold a clearence level of some type. They're serious about those background checks. I had a guy interview me for hours because my mother has a dual citizenship with Sweden. Also, make sure that the Marine Corps is what you want. I'll tell you, I could never be a Marine. I'm definately not hooah enough. But absolutely don't lie on the forms. Its not worth it if they find out. The best option is to talk to different recruiters. No matter whats on your record, if you can display to them enough willingness to join the military, they'll find a way for you. Just be persistant and honest.
  25. I often download aircraft purely on the quality of the VC. If it doesn't have one, or if its just a simple job, I can't enjoy flying the plane. Also, most aircraft designers that take the time to create an excellent VC have already created a great aircraft to go with it. You'll be hard pressed to find a terrible aircraft with an excellent panel.
