sophocles Posted March 15 Posted March 15 (edited) Hello all, I wanted to start this thread to keep you all abreast of what @alfa2 and I are working on .. Since we're currently working on Royal Hellenic Air Force Spitfires .. here's some preview shots of the MkV both B and C, elliptical and Clipped wing variants .. There are still more to come in the guise of the NoAF F-5a and the all new Viper models .. Edited March 16 by sophocles 12 4
snapper 21 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Hi sophocles Do you have any drop tanks for your Spitfires or thoughts on adding them as part of the model? Cheers Snapper21 3

Cheers Snapper21 Dear friend, we're trying to be historicaly accurate as much as possible. The RHAF Spifires never carried external fuel tanks and this is the reason of their omission. Wrench Posted March 15 Posted March 15 If I may be so bold to suggest, adding the drop tank capability, for WW2 perverts like me, that might want to backdate their usage for operations in the various WW2 theatres. For RHAF usage, it's easily left out of the loadout ini, thereby removing it from view. If built in, that is. Otherwise, I'd like to suggest just having the pylon available to use the existing Spit drop tanks. For the Trops, Volks only or both Volks and Abukir filters? Can't quite tell from the pictures thanks!

Thanks for the feedback Kevin, we'll certainly consider it. 33 minutes ago, Wrench said: For the Trops, Volks only or both Volks and Abukir filters? Can't quite tell from the pictures Vokes so far .. I really hate the Aboukir filter it is superlatively ugly!!! We do have the standard non-tropical carb inlet versions though .. 2

Can't quite tell from the pictures Kevin we've found 1-2 pictures in historical books of RHAF Mk.V's with the Abukir filter but they must have been very few to do another variant with just those few airframes. 1
JulioJunqueira Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Some RHAF Spitfire Mk XVI, used US 75 galon drop tanks (field modified), but not for fuel; they contained napalm and were used as weapons in 1946-1949 Greek civil war. Beautiful Spitfires, by the way! 2
Wrench Posted March 19 Posted March 19 don't forget the RAF used them for beer, too!!! (or was it the Americans???) 1

sophocles Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 (edited) Here's a few more .. BTW, anyone know where I could get hold of a 75 gallon US drop tank? .. for strictly educational purposes .. not for turning into a crude Napalm bomb .. Edited March 20 by sophocles 6 1
Wrench Posted March 21 Posted March 21 we have a 75 gallon napalm tank (oddly, made iirc from the 75 gallon drop tank) here ya go; from one of my WW2 installs 75GalNapalm.7z 2 2
