I'm trying to build a single mission on default IsraelME map with some mods from the site. I can't apparently make the ships fire their ship-to-ship missiles. I tried just about anything I could think of and the best I could achieve was the the attacking ship (a Jianghu) turning 90 degrees off the offending ship (a Cargo ship) and doing nothing. Am I missing something?? Thanks

It's more of blowing up ships with Anti-Ship Missiles hung from a pylon of your favorite jet. I honestly don't know of anybody actually having a ship to ship battle that something like DCS can do. I mean I could miss something @KJakker might know of a trick, but if not, then well... no joy.

For example, gunners can't shoot at ground targets at all, even if you land a helicopter or plane right next to an enemy convoy. Although in the ini settings, the targetable options are listed as air and ground. On the other hand, tanks can fight each other and other ground vehicles just fine. As for ships, God knows. Mainly, the ships were added to the game as targets for pilots, of course... If you think about aircraft carriers, then also as a floating airfield.

I sure do know that they are primarily meant to be bombed, but given the fact that modders have put RGM-84s and the likes in them and given the fact that I saw screenshots of ships firing the things I thought they would work, unless they only work in campaigns...

I mean like I said, you can do that but getting them to shoot at other ships isn't something the game is known for. But, if I'm wrong KJakker may be able to shed some light on the subject. I never once since like 2004 or so ever tried it, so I could be wrong, but I don't recall anybody successfully doing ship to ship combat. 1

Naval engagements work, and work VERY well. The right parameters just must be met. I've done it on WW2 maps and several modern ones. (Eastern Med comes to mind) If you gonna use PLAN against *whomever* I'd suggest the modern Taiwan (Formosa) as it already set up as a Naval Map. I have a very old 'gerneric' ship-to-ship mission archived somewhere for the stock Desert map. Let me look around, and try to find it. 4

Hi Wrench, That's the same thing I thought so I added the Navalmap=TRUE statement to the terrain.ini and even added the nation 'China' to the limitednations even though the userlist of the Type053H1 has Egypt in it (that's why it's there in the first place). I even tried with the default IcelandNA map and a Ticonderoga vs the usual Cargoship but the result was the same. Regarding your WW2 missions I had gotten the guns to shoot in one of my tries but not the SSM

cargo ship. you can edit to your liking. see how this works!! Ships need at least two waypoints as per your *.MSN: an INITIAL_POINT one and an ATTACK_OBJECT one. In my test mission I only had one. I went back and tested on both maps, the stock IcelandNA with Navalmap=TRUE and water.bmp and the stock IsraelME which has neither, so it doesn't seem to be related to the NA additions (those are probably used for campaigns). Both of these waypoint commands need to be added manually in the *.MSN since the mission editor will not let you choose objectives for naval units. Now I can see the Jianghu firing even though it can't hit anything with it's crappy Temu knockoff soviet missile clones but that's to be expected... 1
Gepard Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago One point that ships not firing each other is when the viewpoint positions of the gunners are placed to low. So the gunner cant "see" the target and will not fire. 3
