FastCargo 412 Posted July 18, 2007 Also, check your X:/"Janes F-15 directory"/Wrapper directory. Look for 5 files with the name LOAD_*.PCX where * is a different letter. Open one of them...bet you find your loading screen there in various colors. Did you do this to find your loading screen? And did you note that a modern WinXP computer will show that loading screen for only a fraction of a second. Also, Janes F-15 is considered THE defining F-15E simulator. Considering how many simmers are here, some of them have been simming since the Apple II, and none of them have found a sim that meets what you're looking for, I think you're thinking of another sim. I can say with confidence that there was never an F-15E sim released after Janes F-15 or an updated engine release of the Janes F-15 simulator. Maybe someone did a hack, or a custom terrain, etc. But that's it. Good luck. FastCargo PS Platinum, glad you got it working...enjoy!

FastCargo PS Platinum, glad you got it working...enjoy! i saw them for the loading screen but it asked what program to use to run em and i used janes f-15 with no luck...either way, my pc is xp and that load screen that you have (with the female crew chief) is definitely the one that loaded for the sim i've been looking for that i accidentally deleted from my pc months ago. it might not have been a janes f-15 sim but it did have that same load up screen, that i definitely know for sure....thats why i was wondering what the name was. if it is janes f-15, i dunno if there was a patch or upgrade that improved the graphics, missions, and added that particular load screen. JediMaster 451 Posted July 18, 2007 I remember Elf saying there was an F-15 2.0 in the works, possibly around the time of the A-10 game, but both were cancelled shortly after Jane's F/A-18 release. Other than that, Jane's F-15 was the last commercially released F-15-only sim. LOMAC had the F-15C, released a few years later, but its loading screen was the one with the guy in camo with his back to the camera directing the plane. WoE has the F-15A, but its loading screen is just a pair taking off. That's it for combat sims with F-15s. I would've loved to see another Strike Eagle sim, but Jane's was the last one. I'm thinking the loading screen you remember seeing way back just doesn't show anymore because your PC now is far more powerful than what you had back then. FastCargo 412 Posted July 19, 2007 Damn Fubar, You might be right...they DID have an F-15E in USAF, didn't they? I didn't consider USAF because it wasn't a study sim. But the terrain graphics were significantly better. Though it doesn't meet the other qualifications (after 2000, made for WinXP) and it was a 'semi lite' sim, now I'm wondering. I'm going to feel really stupid for not thinking about that. FastCargo

Platinum Rogue 48 Posted September 7, 2007 (edited) Hmmm, Jane's USAF. It's amazing how easily a 'not-quite-there' sim can be forgotten by the majority of us here All the more surprising if you consider the work done to bring content from Jane's IAF into it with the superpatches and such. Maybe it's another case of retrograde amnesia... Along came Strike Fighters tempting us away with it's mods Just for grins, a short slide-show of some JF15 action. You Like, ey? And here's some Strike-Eagle simming porn, courtesy of DSB design and FS2004: Edited September 7, 2007 by Platinum Rogue

kazamashin 0 Posted November 5, 2007 http://www.migman.com/1999_combat.htm Some great memories there Wow so many favorites there. Too bad JA-10 never got a proper release..that would have made it the Hog equivalent to LBII.
MercuryFlame 0 Posted November 28, 2007 I'll just tag along to this thread... How is Jane's USAF anyway? As a game and as a simulation? What kind of campaign, scripted, dynamic, and level of realism? Been eyeing the game here and there in passing, somehow never giving it much thought.
TurtleHawk 6 Posted November 28, 2007 USAF is a good sim. And the community there has done some incredible add-ons. Similar to what has been done with Falcon4. You might want to check it, if you can find a copy.

lazboy 1 Posted November 28, 2007 Have a look on this site www.migman.com link below to the page relating to the F-15 Strike Eagle 111 game, could that be the one that you were looking for? If not they have details of most released flightsims along with screen shots and details. http://www.migman.com/ref/1990_combat/F15_3/F15_3.htm Lazboy
FastCargo 412 Posted December 5, 2007 FAST CARGOWhen you have a second, could you tutor us on making janes F-15 work on Win XP? Thanks It's really about as simple as I wrote in my posts eariler in the thread. First, Janes F-15 looked best running in Glide. For you youngin's, Glide was a video API...similar (and in some ways superior at the time) to Direct 3D. It was only run by video cards that used the Voodoo video GPU made by 3dfx. However, Glide, the Voodoo chip and 3dfx have all been consigned to history. Therefore, there are 2 ways to run a game in Glide mode. 1. Find a 3dfx card and drivers and a old computer that can run them...good luck with that. 2. Run a Glide 'wrapper' program. A 'wrapper' is a program running in the background that takes the game Glide graphic 'calls' and translates them into Direct3D calls. It's additional overhead, but more than likely, the game you are trying to run doesn't need nearly the horsepower modern games do. The 2 Glide 'wrappers' out there I have seen are Glidewrapper (duh) and dgVoodoo. I use Glidewrapper for Janes F-15. I know dgVoodoo works for Jane's Longbow 2. Most Glide wrappers are 'auto detect' ie they will fire up as soon as it detects a game that needs it. Anyway, install Glidewrapper...play with the options a bit. I use 'high res' for JF-15 and Total Air War. Install Janes F-15...you may have to use Win98 compatability mode to get it to install. Patch it with the last patch (1.17f). Run F-15. That's about all I can remember...worked just fine. However, because JF-15 is so old, your results could vary. Good luck. FastCargo
