Viggen Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 (edited) New questions... Whats different in the SAMs? Haven't had any in Syria yet. And has anyone else noticesd thyat the Shilkas are really dangerous now? Edited February 24, 2008 by JA 37 Viggen Quote
+Brain32 Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I know your pain, sadly same here. I'm in the same boat, however I asked and TK said there will be hard copy released in Europe, but he couldn't tell me when Quote
Caesar Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Finally got a BVR SAHM kill: AIM-7M fired at 17 miles at a MiG-21bis. The first missile went stupid about 10 seconds after I fired it at 24 miles. The second one tracked and the Fishbed attempted to beam me. Did some funky maneuvers and prevented it, Sparrow hit and killed the Fishbed. Quote
Stinger66 Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Hi all, how can I get WOI in Germany? I don`t have a creditcard or paypal...... Comes a CD-Boxed-Version there? Greetings Stinger Quote
Sixgun Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Does anyone other than myself find the F-16 flight model as pessimistic as I do? I guess I am used to the Mirage Factory's FM, but I am able to flatplate the Viper. That ain't right. There's this thing called a flight control computer in the Viper that is supposed to prevent that kind of thing. It's amazing to me how well the AI flies the Flogger when it is completely uncontrollable for me. I echo the sentiment that the Kfir should turn (a little) better too. Has TK downgraded the A-4's turn performance as well? Quote
+SidDogg Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 YO YO YOOOOO CHECK IT OUT MY WINGIE GETS TA KEEP HIS KILLZ!!!!! Quote
Caesar Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 (edited) Haven't departed the Viper yet. I have departed the Tomcat and was able to recover; it took positive counter-spin action and about 11K feet, but it did come out. Did you try to recover the plane? EDIT: And either it's just me or the differential horizontal tail mod for the Tomcat makes it handle better in WoI. After I re-applied the mod the plane feels like it has better roll performance and doesn't buckle back under G as much... Edited February 24, 2008 by Caesar Quote
Caesar Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Sixgun, I finally got the F-16 to depart, but it wasn't easy. 20K feet, full lateral stick and pull with opposite rudder. After about 3 revolutions it turned into a flat spin. I recovered by cutting the engine (literally), rudder opposite spin and full pull on the stick. While the F-14 took 11K to recover, the F-16 took 2K. I agree the -16 shouldn't spin, but I do keep in mind that there was a point in time when the Viper was also called the Lawn Dart because of computer malfunctions, and I'm not even sure if the plane would allow such inputs that would depart it. Icarus999 Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I don't know what you are talking about.I have played fully patched WOE on a 1920x1200 laptop and a 1920x1080 46" LCD TV. If you didn't see a resolution higher than 1600x1200, it is because your monitor or video card didn't support it or communicate it to the game. Thank you Strikeagle, my copy of woe is installed on my old computer, It runs a ge force 6800 video card and an older sylvania monitor -1024x768. I did not realize that the mazimum settings selectible in the game referenced the users system capability. Thanks again for clearing that up. Quote

MigBuster Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Does WOI come with changing seasonal terrains now like the FE expansion pack? Quote

Any plane beaming a pulse doppler stands a great chance of breaking your lock (especially pre 1980s tech)- I dont know whether the real Sparrow would still be able to guide after the lock has been broken for a certain amount of time and you locked the plane up again. Quote
Caesar Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 was the lock made in front sector? He beamed me the first time coming from head on, then he turned around, so technically the second shot came from his 6-o'clock. did the opposite forces were on easy mode? Hard. what are the parameters of the aim7-m in the weapon editor? Not sure what its exact envelope is but the Mirage Factory's AIM-7M can be fired at 70km Rmax and 1.5km Rmin and lock must be held throughout the flight. @CoolHand: After he broke my lock the first time, the first sparrow did go dumb and crash into a mountain, I fired a second missile after I got lock the second time. Emp_Palpatine Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Does WOI come with changing seasonal terrains now like the FE expansion pack? In such part of the world, I would be a little bit pointless. Quote
MigBuster Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 In such part of the world, I would be a little bit pointless. Havnt lived there myself but thought it may change a bit - was more in line of whether the new Patches for WOE/WOV would allow it? Quote
Gr.Viper Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Hell on earth... Love night missions. Strike mission - ordered wingman to cover me against Mig-21. He jettisoned all ordnance and went after them blazing guns. A-4 seems to work quite nice against in gun combat but jams come fast... Apparently the rear turrent is unmanned They sure can fight though Funny, the ships in the port are not the type I'm sent to bomb in Anti-ship strikes Quote
Emp_Palpatine Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Havnt lived there myself but thought it may change a bit - was more in line of whether the new Patches for WOE/WOV would allow it? Having lived in Libya for a year, I haven't noticed much evolution in the overall appaerance of the nature during seasons. Except that there was rain in december and january, that's all. But changins seasonnal terrains for WoE would be great! Quote
Gr.Viper Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Started 6 Days War campaign yet again. Those massive airstrikes look awesome... Campaigns are great in general. Returning after mission only to find your own airfield under attack and get rear full of shells on landing approach.. fun! I noticed there are well armoured Ammo Bunkers next to the airfield. Will destroying them limit enemies' ordnance? Quote

Will destroying them limit enemies' ordnance? I hate that! I was on final, and 8 Il-28s bombed the runway! I was real close to Bingo but engaged them as my wingie landed. Kinda embarrasing getting shot down by a MiG over your own base I don't think killing bunkers will do anything to the enemy ordanance. Quote
Gr.Viper Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Kinda embarrasing getting shot down by a MiG over your own base Had to land just now in the desert in friendly territory - 3 Fishbeds and one Fresco started dancing around me. Hit airbrake, 0 throttle, glided for a while forcing them to maneuver a lot - they couldn't get a shot on me and trying to gun one of them myself was a clear way to die. But I delivered one Sidewinder into Mig-17 rear earlier so wasn't sorry about quitting early. Hm... you know - the desert's not so flat You cant' see them from above but there are lots of small hills in some areas. Nice change from table flat fieds of First Eagles. Can actual 60-70 jets stand landings on "uncivilised" terrain? Quote
Emp_Palpatine Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Can actual 60-70 jets stand landings on "uncivilised" terrain? Don't think so. Some were conceived as to be able to operate from runways or rough airbases... but not an uncivilised terrain full of rocks and sand. Quote

Gr.Viper Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Can't. Stop. Taking. Pictures. I like numbers in this sim... 16 rocket-loaded Vautours - this is madness! Escorted by me and my wingie... half didnt' even make it to the target :) And... those guys. Both managed to take quite a beating. Sidewinders can't hit even them... none of the four me and my wingie launched got even close to hitting though I had a lock on. Then Two wasted all cannon ammo and I had to come in. One got its tail shot to bits, the other was hit in the engine and blew up so hard there literally wasn't anything to fall on the ground. Quote
