Iran successfully fires rocket carrying its 1st satellite

Joint Chief of Staff on Sunday congratulated Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and brave Iranian nation on successful launching of the rocket carrying the country's first satellite.

 

In a message issued on Sunday, the Joint Chief of Staff said the rocket carrying the country's first satellite, the `Hope' Satellite, was successfully fired on the birth Anniversary of the last Imam of Shiites, Hazrat Mahdi (May God Hasten His Reappearance), thus illustrating the auspicious name of the Imam in the space.

 

The message said the launching marks the second instance of successful tentative firing of such rockets.

BBC: Iran has successfully launched its first domestically made communications satellite into space, according to reports.

 

Iranian TV showed what it said was the launch of the satellite called Safir-e Omid (Hope Envoy) in darkness.

The only thing that Iran is really good at making is big fish stories about themselves and having them blow-up in their face. It's becoming more and more difficult for me to take them serious. I'm starting to see them as the "International Clown". All you need to do now is paint Mahmud Ahmadinijad's face white, put some make-up on him, give him a plastic red bulbed nose with some fuzzy rainbow hair, some big floppy red shoes, and he'll be the obvious star of the show.

When they were capable of launching an object into orbit it also meant they were capable of launching a nuclear warhead and dropping it anywhere on the planet. I don't find that a bit amusing if they now have this capability. So what was the delivery vehicle and what was the weight of the satellite?

Yeah roger that. I mis-read something, and thought the whole rocket launch deal wasn't a success when Iran was trying to manipulate media coverage on it that it was a success. Now, after re-reading what I saw, I got a better understanding on what's going on. Guess I needed a bit more rest after that 14 1/2 hour drive from my gramp's place in NorCal. But I still think Ahmadinijad's should be dressed up in a clown suit... easier to target that way.

Well, I used the cruise control.... does that count? Oh, and just to add some aviation stuff to it, I used a Magellan GPS nav computer which gave me my MSL altitude, satelite indicated speed (very accurate btw), time, date, arrival time (also very scarily accurate), exact distance to next waypoint and overal distance to destination, exact location (including current route, state, county, zip code, longitude/latitude, nearest approaching/departing streets and on/off ramps), current traffic status (and best AM freq to tune into for traffic updates) and possible detour routes to take to avoid it to maintain the fastest arrival time. Best Christmas gift I ever got.

 

The distance from point A to B was approximately 550 miles.

Try to get from point A to point B that are 30 minute drive under normal conditions, with the whole of the IDF stands in your way. Cobras and Apaches filling you with led, battalions of Merkava MK4 giving you there 120mm smooth bore ammo.

I'm still looking for information on which missile vehicle was used to transport their payload into orbit. It would be interesting to see whose country contributed to giving this technology to the Iranians. You know, just in case one of those satellites accidentally falls onto someone elses country.

I have been looking at some Israeli online newspaper and the info I could get from it is that:

Names are Iranian so don't build your hopes on reliability here.

The name of the satellite itself is OMID (hope) and the name of the missile is SAFIR (ambassador).

What do you make of it?

 

Of course I couldn't get any tech info on ether of them.

I found a few interesting facts. One of leading specialists of corporation ROSKOSMOS get to the followings conclusions:

 

- the Iranian rocket is advanced modification of Dun-2 (2000-2100 KM radius, chinese version of R-12)

 

- the Iranian rocket has 2nd the stage, absent in an original model

 

- Soviet space rocket "Space" was created analogical appearance on a base R-12 rocket by adding 2nd the stage

 

- the Iranian rocket, same like "Space" can be started from a rocket mine.

 

- Soviet space rocket "Space" data : max orbit height - 220 KM, max sattelite mass 450-350 KG, depending the orbit angle.

The Russians pathetic temper tantrum about the United States helping countries such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, has shown the world that they are still fighting the Cold War. It has shown the world that Russia considers the United States, the EU, NATO as their enemies. Iran's launch of a satellite helps prove this assertion. Especially immediately following Russia's invasion of Georgia in order to send a 'message' to their enemies in the West. The Russian transition from the USSR to its present government hasn't fullfilled the aspirations of the global economy of the New World Order. In fact, it has shown its most major flaw of its' ineptness to prevent these last two ominous events.

I suspect that the IRBM booster heritage is pretty clear, as is the likely suborbital performance of the vehicle along the NK model......
