Not sure what you guys tweaked, but I have noticed the planes are a bit smoother in the air, how should I put it, um, more like they are actually flying in a real enviornment. Thanks, it seems better all the way round, and it seems like were not getting outnumbered on either side in the campaign on every mission. That was getting a little old, going up with a flight of 3 or 4 and every combat going up against 12 to 16 planes all the time. They are more sporatic now, and there are times when they have the numbers, or it's even, or we have the numbers. It gets a good mix now. Again Thank You Guys For All The Efforts!!!!!Salute.gifdrinks.gif

My first impressions are very good, but I also have a big problem.

Finally got my new rig ready and set up. It's main components are:

E8300 Dual Core CPU with 2.83 GHz

ATI HD4870 graphic card with 2 GB memory

4 GB RAM

System: Windows Vista 32 bit

Now I must say, all seems to run much smoother, even over airfields.

It was just an exciting joy to fly over the beautifully made world, and an extensive dogfight

was still running smooth and fine.

But then somewhere later in the fighting, it all froze. That happened both flights I made so far.

The first time, all was so stuck, not even the "monkey grip" got me out - had to reboot.

The second time, I pressed "escape" and got beamed back to the briefing - but two claims lost.

Any ideas, anyone? Should I simulate XP for this sim?

Hallo Olham,

Try turning your sliders down. We all ran into the same problem in beta, and turning the sliders, particularly scenery & terrain, down a notch usually solves the problem. 4 5 4 4 5 5 works for me.

Cheers,

Not so much a problem... more we are actually pushing the GPU limits....again....

Well, my slider wheren't full up; they are 5,4,4,5,3

I'll check ground object density then, and go one down with sceney slider.

Would you recommend to go to XP Compatibility mode for OFF, Winder?

also don't forget to set english region. that worked for me at the beginning when BHAH came out. it froze after couple minutes. after changing region code it froze never again.

I have a GTX285 with 1024mb RAM and 4gb system RAM (system sees only 3.25gb though), running at 54455 and object density on max, average 45fps. Which is odd, as I seem to remember having to back the object density off one notch. But I might have had the scenery and terrain sliders on 5 as well.

Whatever, just a bit of data by way of a benchmark, hopefully useful.

Great effort guys!!! :drinks: There is a ton of new content (there are now 3,700 skins !!! :salute:) that is really deepens the sim and makes a great product that much more awesome.

I did find a bug tho' VERY minor, but the dev team are sticklers for details - which I really appreciate - and I know they would want to know and fix it.

Ace Harvey Weir Cook of the 94th Aero has Frank Luke's skin assigned. I checked the skins folder and the HW skin is there and is correct, so the error is in the assignments file.

The admin crapp was completely disabled by my computer specialist.

But where do I find that decimal symbol?

Anyone else get this? Mine shows the correct skin - #24 with Hat in the Ring emblem.

Anyone else see what Barkhorn is seeing?

I have not seen it since and when it happened I had selected the FL skin as my custom skin - so we both had the skin. Odd.

Flight report so far...

Nupe28 - a delight to fly! Stable, not prone to the "snap" stall of other rotaries, sturdy enough in a dive (as in it keeps it's wings on!). Toasted 2 Pfalz IIIa on the first mission.

DH-5 - how the heck did anyone survive flying this thing?! More prone to wicked stall/spins than the DH-2, and that is saying something! The problem is me, I'm sure, but I can't get the perspective of where the nose is on this thing! It's usually pointing at the stars which leads to terrible airspeed loss which drives right into the aforementioned stall/spin situation! Of course, these things shred me when I'm in a Alb DIII or even beloved Pfalz, so they must have some capabilities that I'm not availing myself of!

E-8 - (with all due respect to Olham & WF2) another rotary engine stall/spin machine! In fairness, I've only flown this a/c once, but the affair ran like this: turn into enemy, recover from stall, turn into enemy, recover from stall - all the way to the deck (started at 5,000 in QC).

So far, I'm too ham fisted a pilot! Give me an SE-5 anyday, yank and bank all day long with enough power to keep her in the sky - without the totally tricked torque twisting to your termination! The sad thing is this: I am a pilot - how embarassing!

More later, back to the fray!

Yeah Windchill DH5 is a tricky thing to fight in, it's underpowered too but very sturdy. Stay lower, use dive more (it's best trait).

Keep the nose on the horizon (or lower) turn steady. It's OK but in a dogfight you can't see behind either so you really want to have your top cover - as you will find later on in campaigns as the DH5 is assigned (dangerous) ground attack role duties it will often have top cover escorts as it did in WW1.

i'm not sure if it's a glitch, and i really like the fact AI tries to stay high, but AI aggressivenes is lacking too much IMHO. There are more or less cruising around before deciding to attack you. after a pass they again keep flying phlegmatically.

so far i don't have the thrill and fear of getting shot down at all with HITR.

@devs, would be great if you could take a look into it. would be a shame with this great addon if the AI keeps this way. is it maybe because the addon demands more recourses for the cost of AI brains?

Yep we are looking. Try adjusting the terrain and scenery a notch down and see Creaghorn? Usually higher is better, but try please.

Havnt even installed it yet (but purchased it), to be honest none of the planes really appeal to me but at £14.53 for a continued supprt for this project then it gets my money, hopefully i will get the chance to play this over the holidays but if not no issue. Im glad I can supprt this project thru this purchase.

Thanks to all involved

Yes, I'm with you on the aircraft...not much of interest to me personally...but it's other bits of the addon that are really good..and move the sim up a notch.

The personal skin bit, wind factors...new improved sounds and tweaked scenery make it worth the money :drinks:

Well after a nightmare installation process, I'm experiencing the same issues. In repeated tests in campaign and QC I'm seeing aircraft that no longer fight. 6 on 6 dogfight with N28s vs what should be the top line Fokker D7's and they couldn't seem less interested in engaging each other. The N28's waggle their wings and fire a few shots as they pass through, but then the AI just aimlessly circles gently around each other. I flew for that QC mission for another 15 minutes and none of the aircraft ever fought each other.

I tried adjusting my terrain sliders both up and down. Down yielded AI which appeared to be in a coma. Up actually got them fighting, but then the frame rate was unplayable. Note: My sliders had been set at 5-3-3-5-1, so I've been enjoying great performance and beautiful graphics - at least until I installed HitR.

They do know there's a war on, right? Very frustrated with this add on so far...

Well, I also experimented with sliders yesterday, and I think, it might be enough

for you to go perhaps one higher with one slider; like this:

Aircraft detail : 5

Terrain detail : 3

Scenery detail: 4

Effects quality: 4

Clouds quality: 1

Cause in my case, there was still some good fighting on. Fokker Dr.1 and N 28 circling

and fighting. They remained high. Two craft where shot down at least (that's what I could see),

and there would not be more of that normally. Fights seemed more realistic to me like that.

What I missed, was more evasive action of the craft I was chasing. It reacted, as if the pilot

had given up. There should be more "passive fighting" necessary.

We confirmed AI isn't doing quite what it should (see known issues sticky).

Yep higher sliders usually makes AI better (but only if your PC can cope).

To give you a heads-up, Pol: the AI fighting other AI isn't that bad.

I watched a fight yesterday between Fokker Dr.1 and Nieuport 28, and they

remained high (good!), and the circled round each other, and there where

still two aircraft shot down.

I don't think, that there would have been much more losses in real life,

so I found that pretty realistic.

What the AI is yet lacking, is more action in response to the player.

At least better defensive evasive action.

I managed to shoot a Fokker Dr.1 down as a rookie on the N 28 - no Jasta 4

pilot would have flown so lame with a N 28 behind him.
