When I lived in Northern Texas if you didnt have a high fenced in back yard and left your dog out he was in serious danger. Several people lost dogs to coyotes in my neighborhood so we got a very high wooden fence installed. It was expensive but worth it.

You carry open no permit as well. You can also put your pistol/rifle/shotgun under a seat or tarp as long as it's in a case/holster/scabbard.
