If you've upgraded to Exp. Pack 2, then the Water.BMP for the VietnamSEA terrain is already included in the VietnamSEA.CAT file. All you need to do is add the following to the VietnamSEA.INI and SouthVietnam.INI (right under the NationsFile= line):

 

LocationMap=VietnamSEA_Location.bmp

WaterMap=VietnamSEA_Water.bmp

I have a strange problem with the mission editor. I have merged all G2 games + both expansions and I could add carriers and boats without problems then I installed some old carriers from G1 games and now I only get landbased ground objects in Vietnam mission editor.

Hi,

 

I seem to have a problem with the up dated Darwin terrain, even though it has a water map and as far as I can see the correct ini entries I still can't get the mission editor to recognise the water and it won't let me place ships.

 

The other terrains seem all ok and I've compared it with them and I can't really see any differences.

 

Here's the Config ini text.

maybe because I didn't place any CarrierStations in the targets ini???? :dntknw: AFAIK, the game engine ™ still might need those entries.

I've also noticed that if you select an anti ship mission and then go to the mission editor the target ships don't show up in the editor. ( they do show up on other terrains that I checked.)

 

Would not having the carrier stations effect this? For some reason the mission editor doesn't seem to recognise the sea areas as water.

Thanks for the reply Dave, I have got a water bmp in the Darwin terrain and I've checked it's properties which seem correct.

 

It seems like it has all the ingredients but it just doesn't want to "cook" with them :dntknw:

also,i can't have any ship to work, even with the water bmp and the entrie in the terrain.ini......

i just can have it to work in a clean new install :/

i've added the carrier stations and nothg.

the worse thing is that i keep get to choose ground units , even if it is over the sea

 

any ideas?

I am using the IR terrain and the IR_Water.bmp is in the same folder thanks to Wrench for his excellent work. I did everything to have the ship show in thegame but without any lock. This is the

Sorry please ignore the first line WaterMap=IR_Water.bmp as it’s notthere it is just a typing mistake.

So Umm, you can't place any ships on the map in MissionEditor, but you're able to place tanks even on water?

Then it's got something to do with the WaterMap...

I have created new IR_Water.bmp and it worked thank a lot :drinks: and this is the link to the file.

All You need to do is use a water map from a stock terrain, rename it, load it in Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop and paste the new map into the stock one and save it.

where is the "terrain.ini" ? couldnt find it in any of my mods folders.... not sure where the watermap line goes...
