These are "generic, stand-in multiple planes usage" cockpits I worked on past few weeks

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

for the late 30s light bomber maybe:

 

 

(slowest priority right now)

 

of all these are more advanced in modelling progress and have better functionality:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

All of the above were created as generic, bare some resemblance to the original real-life aircraft cockpits throught the late 30s to mid 40s (I think you can name at least two real life ones I based these on...) and made this way ON PURPOSE -so you won't be able to say "This is X cockpit used in Y plane", but "this is a cockpit that bares more or less resemblance to cockpits of A,B and C used in E,F,G planes". Got the idea?

 

first three need more work, last two are good to go, all still WIP.

 

Comments, suggestions welcome.

 

No, I won't make cockpit "H" for "H" plane, I don't take requests, bribe me :tongue:

 

(and accurate Hawk 75 one is still in the works)

Stary ,like to convert one to ww2 russian for this?...saw ur pits and remembered this...this single seater btw

History

This project was designed and virtually built in 1934-1936 by P.I.Grokhovsky Design Bureau.

Twin seat fighter-bomber, mainly of wooden construction, powered with two 900hp Gnome-Rhone radials and armed with four ShKAS and two ShVAK firing forward plus two rear-firing ShKAS controlled by gunner. Various bomb combinations could be hung under the center nacelle.

The whole project was cancelled when the aircraft was virtually finished in 1936.

 

G-38 specifications:

interesting Russo, I'm thinking about making switchable Soviet, Japanese gauges graphics for those. Luftwaffe ones are whole different story sadly (way different gauge meshes)

The 3rd and 4th pics look like they could be used with Veltro's P-39D for SF2 he made recently. it resembles the actual pit somewhat.

Great work!

That's a good idea about using "generic" cockpits.

 

2nd cockpit will be good for both Gloster Gladiator and CR.42.

Bomber cockpit for Sm.79, or Br.20.

RA had some ugly yet beautiful in their uglyness planes (yes I know how it sounds)

I personally think everything but the panels themselves feel pretty flat with the SF ingame lighting. Have you experimented with baking/painting shadows onto the cockpit textures?

yes I tried Jules, but then it creates shell sub object materials I can't export into engine properly. And the automatic unwrapper is quite useless in the process texture-space wise.

 

Used standard skylight with 2 bounces and 1.4 multiplier to make it less dark, still experimenting with it

I had the same problem with some of the stuff I did but I came around.

I'd save the main max file from which I export lod's and then make another copy of it and just trashed it to bake textures. In the game I would use the previously exported lod and the newly baked textures :grin:
