+MigBuster Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Video of the weekends collision on the BBC site with report - luckily both pilots were okay: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-14110542 Quote
Nesher Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 glad to hear the pilots are okay and at least one aircraft manage to land safely Quote
Icarus999 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Why am I not suprised that it was the skyraider that was able to land after the collision? Quote
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Its a difference if your wing is damaged or your tailsection ;) You realy need your tailsection more than a part of your wing. Quote
+Stary Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Skyraider proven itself once again Frankly, I'm suprised the pilot 1)decided to bail out and 2) sustained no mayor injures at such low altitude. Quote
ShrikeHawk Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Glad to see the pilots survived, but it's still tragic to lose a Mustang. Quote
Lexx_Luthor Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Another reason I am not impressed with with close proximity flying -- close to other craft OR the ground -- unless the mission or training for that mission demands it. Flying fancy shows is not one of the missions. Quote

Flying fancy shows is not one of the missions. WTF? It was an airshow. And civilian owned aircraft. What mission?? Quote
+Stary Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Jeff, as I see it, Lexx was refering to flying in general, not the Duxford case Quote
Lexx_Luthor Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 What mission?? Ding! Ding! We have a Winner Quote
Lexx_Luthor Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Stary:: Jeff, as I see it, Lexx was refering to flying in general, not the Duxford case Yea, burns me right up. Throwing away good airplanes, and risking good lives too -- not just the stupid flying near other craft or the ground when they don't have to -- but potential victims or property on the ground too. Hokum Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 (edited) Shame, I suspect the A-1 is probably rarer then the Mustang these days? I wonder if the Tang lost elevators? Looks like the A-1 hit the Tang right where it hurts. http://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=287&t=37273&start=80 The control wires are right in that spot! +MigBuster Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Nice find! That picture is pretty clear! Must admit I was watching a Hawker Hunter display team with gritted teeth last weekend - and thinking whether they should be sticking to solo shows. Quote
