UK_Widowmaker 571 Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) Who in the world of comedy, cracks you up the most? Ok...Rules are: List FIVE only .... but post only ONE Youtube video, of your favourite comedy moment. I'll kick off the proceedings. My five are: Steve Coogan Ricky Gervaise Rik Mayall Rowan Atkinson George Carlin And my Video of choice is: (and it was a very tough choice) Is Ricky Gervaise...I just think he was a real breath of fresh air..he wrote and starred in the series...and I just thought the whole series was sublimely funny http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNiPtCST3zw&feature=related Edited October 7, 2011 by UK_Widowmaker
crl848 9 Posted October 7, 2011 Ronnie Barker in Porridge gives me constant amusement.
Flyby PC 23 Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) Tough. I know when I list these, I'll think of something I've missed. The funniest program / series I remember which resonated best with my age and broke new ground was Not the Nine O'clock news. Then there was the Young Ones of course which was brilliant, though I didn't care for Alexei Sayle. Red Dward certainly had it's moments too, especially in the old days, and you can't leave out Bottom. But my funniest edition of any comedy series has to be Blackadder Goes Forth, Private Plane. The one with Rick Malal as the pilot. Peerless. I'm not a fan of Mr Bean, but all the same Rowan Atkinson is a comedy genius. So, the list - Rowan Atkinson. Blackadder. Rick Mayal. Bottom. Leslie Neilson. Naked Gun. John Cleese. Fawlty Towers. ..... And a nostalgic soft spot for Eric Morecambe. Eric and Ernie. RAF_Louvert 101 Posted October 7, 2011 . Well now Widowmaker, there's a nearly impossible question to answer the same on any given day, (at least for me). There are sooooo many outstandingly funny comedians and comedic moments over the the years. However, right now, I will go with the following list, (subject to change with my mood): John Cleese (with or without the Python Boys) Groucho Marx Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry (as a team) Bob Newhart Jon Stewart And here is my clip of choice, (again, at the moment): Groucho Marx, Bigamy
Shiloh 12 Posted October 7, 2011 Great thread Widow. As with Lou, my list might be different tomorrow but I won't change my mind on Benny Hill. 1) Benny Hill 2) Rodney Dangerfield (Caddyshack) 3) John Ratzenberger (Cheers) 4) Michael Richards (Seinfeld) 5) John Cleese

DukeIronHand 8 Posted October 7, 2011 This was easy...just had to make some minor cut n paste changes to BH's: Peter Sellers - The Pink Panther series endures to this day. Sam Kinnison - Probably the only person on earth that has made me laugh at loud. The Black Adder guy - Dunno his name but funny series. The Stooges (with Curly of course) The Pythons - Life of Brian is still one of my favorite movies.

themightysrc 5 Posted October 11, 2011 Hmm. Very tough. I think my top 5, in no particular order would have to be: Stewart Lee Father Ted A little known Briddish series called Early Doors Frasier - the wit is astounding Ted Chippington
TSmoke 2 Posted October 12, 2011 There is really krap in Canada for comedies and or comedians, so my favorite comedian is Rowan Atkinson, and favorite comedy show is Episode of Absolutely Fabulous those crazy broads are hilarious.
Olham 164 Posted October 12, 2011 What can a man contribute here, who comes from the desert lands of humour? My first choice is like the Beatles for music - you heard/saw them too often to remember, how good they actually were. 1. Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy 2. Monty Python's F. C. 3. Peter Sellers 4. The Blackadder team 5. Loriot I guess, most of you wouldn't know the last name - he was a German humourist, who died only recently. Rest in peace, Loriot! I picked this scetch, because it can be understood without knowing the language. He plays a salesman, who has to wait for his customers a little. His last line is: "The picture hangs wrong..." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsiaPcLHusA&feature=related
Wodin 0 Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) Apart from Laurel and Hardy being in my No1 spot the rest are in no particular order. 1. Laurel and Hardy. 2. Norman Wisdom. 3. George Formby. 4. Alan Partridge (more recent, all time favourite comedy character which is pure genius) 5. Morcombe and Wise. 6. Peter Sellers 7. Alistair Simms.(not comedian as such but some great film roles) 8. Lee Evans (when ever I've seen a performance on TV it's always been excellent which is rare these days) 9. Mrs Brown (great TV show at the moment) 10. Bill Bailey. 11. Steptoe and Son. 12. Spike Milligan 13. When I was around 7 to 12 I loved Harold Lloyd. (pair of glasses and a smile) One thing I have noticed over the years that it's very, very rare you get a funny female comedian...even ones that are raved about usually fail to make me laugh. themightysrc 5 Posted October 12, 2011 You're not looking hard enough! Have a listen to BBC Radio 4 and you'll hear plenty of extremely funny female comedians. R4 is the crucible for so much superb comedy that it surprises me that many people appear to not have heard of it, and of the talent it's sprung - Steve Coogan (above) being just one of many. Wodin 0 Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) I disagree...I've heard plenty of female stand ups over the years and they are rarely funny. Thing is even my ex wife used to same the same thing. One recently on the Apollo who apparently is supposed to be this rising female comedian and also getting big in the States just wasn't funny...yet the crowd where laughing...takes alot for me to laugh anyway...so maybe I'm a harsh critique...but I know I could do a funnier act than most female stand ups. Just women don't do comedy well especially stand up. Their just not that good at it comapred to men. Most likely because we never grow up. Just look at our lists here..all men pretty much except Jennifer Saunders and Dawn french (who are now also spent up and not that funny anymore). I loved Comic Strip when I was alot younger...though watching the repeats it's dire...except the Miners Strike one. Edited October 13, 2011 by Wodin
