All missions will have an after action report WITH a screen shot of the outcome of the debriefing screens which will be posted in an this thread for Op Darius AAR's. You need to have integrity (not saying you all won't) and report losses on YOUR side and Iran's side, as I am the official score keeper. I will track supplies etc and maybe a random act of Murphy Law too.

Mission: OCA Strike against Omidiyeh AB

Assets: 1 x Strike Aircraft (F/A-18F) and 2 x Escort (F/A-18F)

Target: Omidieh AB Runway

 

AFter leaving Ali Al Salem AB at 2107 Local NE101 proceeded to target area. After ten minutes of flight NE101 detected two enemy aircraft coming from Shiraz AB. NE101 directed Escort flight to maintain their route in case of further engagement by enemy aircraft. NE101 engaged both hostile aircraft (determined to be F-5s) with AMRAAMs and destroyed both aircraft. After engagement NE101 proceeded north to Omidiyeh AB, releasing two GBU-31s, damaging the runway. All assigned aircraft for mission returned to Ali Al Salem without further incident.

 

NOTE: There is an obvious inconsistency between the AAR and the actual game result. The first F-5 probably over compensated breaking his jet, giving the appearance of "a kill" when I only killed one F-5

Mission: SEAD, Omidiyeh-EW-CGI site

Aircraft: 2 EA-6B (strike package) and 2 F/A-18 F (escorts on standby)

Target: ASR Radar

 

After take-off from Kuwait International (1825) the strike package proceeded to the target . On arrival (1835) Wolf 1 fired a HARM-88D and was then forced into evasive manoeuvres after an Iranian aircraft engaged with a SAHM. Wolf 1 then fired three more HARM-88D and destroyed three ZSU-23-4. A computer glitch meant Wolf 2 could not fire any missiles. The F/A-18F escorts shot down the Iranian aircraft which was determined to be an F-4. The primary target was not damaged. Both Wolf aircraft made a safe landing at 1853.

Mission: Strike fuel reserves at Jazireh Khark - Island Air Base

Aircraft Strike Package: 2x F/A-18F, VFA-11 Red Rippers

Target: Jazireh Khark's fuel tanks.

 

 

Mission started normally, indeed it was quite dull for the fly-in; radars off so as not to give away our position. Cruising altitude was about 15k feet, until we started to get towards the target. Roughly 25 miles out we started to get lit up; dropped altitude down to about 5k feet and initiated jamming to try to force whoever was tracking us to have to interfere with water returns. This worked and I turned the radar on to see who was peeking. Two sets of contacts, one further, one closer. I locked up the closer guy and selected the AIM-9X. He was about 10 miles out and we confirmed the target to be an F-5A Freedom Fighter. Fired a pair of AIM-9X at the lead and thought I splashed him, but apparently not. Trailer came blowing through, so I told -2 to take him. He tried to spray me with 20-mike mike as we passed each other, but failed.

 

 

 

 

About this time, group 2 burned through my ECM, so I continued towards them, as they were also en-route to the target fuel area. F-4 Phantom II's. Locked the lead about 10 miles out and put a Slammer his way at around 8. He exploded 4 miles away, while his wing man failed to seize the initiative and instead of shooting an AIM-7 at me, closed to the merge. I pulled into him in a moderate 4.4g turn due to my stores, but the Iranian reversed his turn and put himself my nose damn quick. Fox 3 and good kill on F-4 #2.

 

 

 

 

During this time, the pair of F-5's had gotten around my wingman, with one on his tail, one closing above me. I overstressed the Bug with a 6.3g turn (about 0.8g over limit at my weight, so fortunately I don't think they'll have to open the weekly stuff this evening) to get onto the F-5's chasing down my wingman. I was able to lock up the trail F-5 first and sent an AMRAAM his way. This struck and destroyed him (he was the one that took the AIM-9's earlier). Shortly after, the lead F-5 began spraying 20mm at -2, and I told -2 to break. It was about this time that the F-5 noticed me, but it was a bit late for him. After a few sudden jerking turns and over-alphas on the Tiger's part, I got good line up and shot him down with the M61.

 

 

 

 

With the air threat taken care of, we moved onto the fuel tanks. Had a pair of SAMs come up at me, but I was pretty close to the ground and they were accelerating too fast to be able to turn onto me before rocketing past. Good drop with 2x GBU-31 JDAM, good kill against the tanks. We also damaged one of the generator buildings and destroyed an arming pit in the blast; it is uncertain at this time the extent of the damage or what it means for operations from Jazireh Khark, but they'll be hard pressed to fuel or launch fighters from that site at this time. Had a bunch more SAMs come up, none managing to adequately track.

 

 

End result: VFA-11 has destroyed fueling capacity at Jazireh Khark, as well as one of the base generators. 4x GBU-31 JDAM expended, 2x jettisoned by wingman, 2x used in strike. Also, 2x F-4 and 2x F-5 shot down. This area shouldn't be able to support Iranian operations at least for the near future.

Mission: OCA Strike against Omidiyeh AB

Assets: 2 x Strike Aircraft (F/A-18F) and 2 x Escort (F/A-18F)

Target: Shiraz AB Runway

 

Flight of 2 x aircraft (NE100 and NE102) left Ali Al Salem at 0830 local hours and headed for Shiraz AB. Shiraz had 2 x Tomcat on CAP and 3 x Seaqeh. Upon flying east vicinity Kuwait City the USS Ticonderoga fired on both Tomcats, destroying the aircraft. NE106 and NE109 met the attackers, with NE106 having defective AIM-120s (exploded in midair, will have maintenance check current lot) and expended all AIM-120s (all five), but engaged one Seaqeh with AIM-9X and destroyed aircraft. NE109 had a similar issue with one missile, but managed to fire a working version and destroyed one Seaqeh. NE106 also fired one AIM-9X and destroyed the remaining Seaqeh. Proceeded to target but was engaged by HAWK system, wingman survived but due to heavy surface to air missile fire I had to press onto the target. Engaged an SA-5 radar (Square Pair) with one AGM-88C, destroying it. Managed to reach Shiraz and employed one GBU-31, severely damaging the runway. After multiple missiles Ens Smith managed to survive, and NE100 attacked the Hawk CWAR with the remaining JDAM striking the CWAR north of Bushehr (Bushehr AD Battery 1), destroying it. All remaining aircraft landed safely.

Mission: Strike against Iranian Command and Control network in Teharn

Assets: 2 x Strike Aircraft (RAAF F/A-18F) and 6 x Escort/SEAD (RAAF F/A-18F)

Target: HQ Building

 

Flight departed Kuwait International at 0800 Local time. No threats were encountered enroute to target. 2x AGM-154C-1 JSOW were fired at the target from outside the Teharn air defence zone and destroyed the HQ Building. Flight then engaged targets of opportunity around Teharn destroying 4x Tor-M1 SAMs and 2x ZSU-23 Shilka AAA vehicles. As the flight regrouped to return to base Red Crown warned of bandits approaching from the South. The flight then engaged and destroyed 4x Iranian Mirage F-1 EQ-500 fighters with no losses.

Mission: Strike against Bandar-e Kangan Silkworm Battery

Assets: 2 x Strike Aircraft (F/A-18F) and 2 x Escort (F/A-18F)

Target: Comm/Control Building

 

Deployed 2 hours after previous Shiraz AB strike, NE111 and NE108 on order from USCENTCOM, flew to Bandar-e Kangan to permit freedom of movement of the Persian Gulf. Aircraft departed Ali Al Salem at 1005 local and did not encounter any hostile aircraft though AWACS did inform flight of two Seaqeh leaving Tehran. No other aircraft were spotted in the AOR. Upon approach NE108 (Ens Sheets) fired one AGM-65E Maverick, destroying the target and surrounding buildings. Tor-M1 systems were spotted and engaged by NE111 acting as cover for the inexperienced NE108, destroying three systems and one HAWK CWAR system. Two of the three Tor systems were engaged in Bandar-e Kangan civilian areas. No reported civilian casualties. All aircraft returned unharmed.

Mission: Strike factory at Esfahan

Aircraft Strike Package: 2x F/A-18F, VFA-11 Red Rippers

Target: Factory at Esfahan, probable location of Uranium Enrichment operation.

 

 

Flight started off normal during ingress; we were flying in mountainous regions to try to avoid radar contact with enemy fighters. I was not surprised, however, when Red Crown came over the radio to indicate interceptors headed our way. Knowing what is stationed at Esfahan, I had a pretty good idea what they were; the fact that they began trying to lock us up at about 70 miles solidified my beliefs. F-14's. I hit the ECM and brought myself and my wingman low, putting a mountain between us and the Iranian Turkeys. At about 47 miles out, we were out from behind the mountain, and the powerful AWG-9's had burned through our ECM already. LD/SD meant that even flying low would be risky. The F-14's still hadn't fired on us, which gave me an idea - if they had AIM-54's, they'd have shot by now - I've got some AIM-120's on this bird, I out-range them! Looking at the TWS, there were 4 in this flight.

 

 

 

Bring the nose on and fire a Slammer at the lead F-14, which struck, and then locked up the second Tomcat, telling my wingman to engage, and send a Slammer his way - a short three seconds later, the (now) lead F-14 fires in return, followed by another. Break right and start pumping chaff. Both his missiles go stupid, and I get a call that my missile has struck and shot down the lead Tomcat. As I pulled back, another pair of Sparrows were fired at us, fooled by chaff. I fired a heater at one of the F-14s as we came to the merge. It impacted, but did not shoot down the number 3 F-14. The number 4 Tomcat presses for nose-on and nearly shoots off my tails with 20mm at the merge, just missing high. I pull into a 4.5g vertical loop and notice F-14 #3 is on one engine and tell my wingman to engage him. He gets a shot at me with an AIM-9P, but it does not hit, and I press on #4. As I am waiting for my wingman to shoot #3, I get a call that #3, probably with too little power to pull out of his own loop trying to follow me, crashed into the desert. #4 will be killed properly - I fire my gun, which catches the F-14, but doesn't kill it; fast readjust, fire and the Tomcat detonates off my nose, no ejection by the crew. (Personal note: I loved flying that bird, best ride I ever had, but if an enemy dares come up to me in that jet, both he and his corrupted steed are dead).

 

 

 

 

Onto Esfahan! I've punched my fuel tank off, so this is a max-loiter slow flight. We get another call about bogey aircraft, but they are well off in the distance (I can't see them on radar at 80NM, so they're out there). Get into the area, get a LOT of altitude (30k feet) and drop the first set of GBU-31's on the factory. These damage both the factory and an attached Gaseous Diffusion Facility, but do not destroy either. Lucky for me I have another 2. As I am pulling around, a SAM is fired at me, but it fails to guide. Get leveled off, drop #3 and 4. These strike and destroy the factory, and cause further damage to the GDF next to the primary factory. Another SAM comes up and misses. Head home, no sighting on the other bogey/bandit aircraft (likely F-4 Phantoms). No flyers coming from Esfahan AB.

 

 

Results: Suspected nuclear factory destroyed at Esfahan, GDF damaged, could now be radioactive area. 4x F-14A's shot down. 4x JDAM expended, 2x jettisoned by wingman.

Mission: Strike against Kharg Island Naval Base

Assets: 2 x Tornado IDS/RECCE with Litening III and GBU-54 LJDAM

Target: Alvand class FFG

 

Mission was set at evening. After Takeoff Red Crown informed us about clear airspace. With the last losses of the IRIAF, they seemed to want to keep some fighters. We flew over the Gulf and checked the RWR for long range radars. As we came near the island we noticed several searchers, but no tracking was done. I believe they had fear it could be a SEAD surprise. The WSO´s picked up the targets, the Alvand class FFG for me and my wingman choosed the area near the docks, where a lone ZSU was hiding. We released almost simultaneously with devastating result. The frigate was ripped apart and the fuel tanks near the docks did the rest to destroy several facilities. While my wingman observed from above, i decided to go in again, with my WSO targeting an Damavand class DD. With no kind of defense, we were able to do some gun runs before we went homeward.

Mission: OCA Strike against Ahvaz AB

Assets: 2 x Strike Aircraft (F/A-18F) and 2 x Escort (F/A-18F)

Target: Shiraz AB Runway

 

Left Ali Al Salem, NE103 developed same issue with Arming System and after deliberation NE110 was sent anyways solo. NE111 and NE108 provided escort. NE110 proceeded to Ahvaz without incident and ten minutes into the flight 2 F-4Es left out of Bushehr in which the Escort flight intercepted. NE111 also had issues with the AIM-120C missiles, expending all and none flew to the targeted aircraft. NE111 fired one AIM-9X and destroyed the aircraft. It became quite apparent squadron air to air skills have deteriorated as NE111 ended up in front of remaining F-4E. NE110 had to engage remaining fighter, in his opinion, "It shouldn't take two aircraft to down a [expletive removed] Iranian F-4!" NE110 fired one AIM-120C and destroyed remaining F-4E.

 

NE110 destroyed Ahvaz airport with one GBU-31 and engaged two HAWK CWARs at Ahvaz and Omediyeh Army Station. No other threats presented themselves and Ahvaz suffered extensive damage, and all aircraft returned safely.

 

Be advised Bushehr is next, only it's going to require some planning. Air recon mission planned for (Game time) the night.

Mission: Strike against Ghale Morghi AB (TAB11) outside Teharn

 

Assets: 2 x Strike Aircraft (RAAF F/A-18F) and 6 x Escort/SEAD (RAAF F/A-18F)

 

Target: Runway

 

Flight departed Kuwait International at 1334 Local time. Radar emission and jamming were keept to a minimum during the ingress and no threats were encountered enroute to target. 2x AGM-154C-1 JSOW were fired at the target as soon as the flight cleared the mountain range to the south of the target. Both weapons struck and severely cratered the runway, effectively destroying it. The Flight then started to engaged air defence targets around the airbase destroying 1x ZSU-23 Shilka AAA vehicle and Hawk CWAR. However before any additional ground targets could be engaged Red Crown warned of bandits approaching from the North West. Four Iranian F-4E Phantom II fighters were picked up on radar and engaged at BVR with AIM-120C7 missiles. Two F-4E fighters were destroyed before the merge with AMRAAMs and another with an AIM-9X after a brief one sided dogfight. At this point our RWR were lit up by two Iranian F-14A Tomcats. The engagement immediately shifted from the remaining F-4E (that was trying to bug) out to the Higher threat F-14A Tomcats. As Plt Off Clare fired an AIM-120C7 at one of the Tomcats he was fired on with no less than two AIM-54 missiles! Fortunately Plt Off Clare was able to 'spoof' the missiles and at the same time return fire with multiple AMRAAMs which destroyed the attacking F-14A. The remaining F-14A and F-4E both attempted to bug out in different directions however Plt Off Mccarthy and Plt Off Simmonds were both in a position to bracket the remaining F-14A from above and destroyed it an AIM-9X from each aircraft after a brief chase.

With the air threats neutralised the flight regrouped and made a single attack run on targets of opportunity around Ghale Morghi AB before heading home. An additional 3x Hawk CWAR, 2x ZSU-23 Shilka AAA vehicles & 1x M35A2 Truck were destroyed. During this final attack A44-208 flown by Flt Lt Betherton was hit and suffered engine damage from a 0.50 calibre machine gun but was able to return safetly.

-F/A-18F Block II Super Hornet A44-208 suffered minor damage to starboard engine compressor blades from 0.50 calibre machine gun rounds. Will be repaired within 48 hours.

 

Intell:

 

-Iranian Airforce still has an unknown number of serviceable AIM-54 Phenix missiles. The Missiles are believed to be early models and appear to be effectively countered by modern ECM equipment.

-2x AGM-154C-1 JSOW were fired and failed to track their target. This is believed to be because the launching aircraft was outside the firing limits of the weapon- ALL pilots must ensure they are within the launch parameters of the weapon they are attempting to deploy to avoid collateral damage.

-No less than 6x SA-15 Gauntlet SAM missiles were fired from Tor-M1 launchers during our second attack on Gale Morgi AB, all were easily defeated with ECM, chaff and spoofing/ manovering.

-Iranian Pilots appear inexperienced and undisciplined, F-4E pilots displayed no skill in interception or ACM tactics and were unable to achieve a firing solution or employ any air-to-air weapons.

NE105 performed the night recon over Bushehr. No incidents other than being fired upon by an SA-15 twice, aircraft returned successfully. Intel department will provide JFC Shape with recon information after being looked through.

Mission: OCA Strike against Badr AB

Aircraft: 1 x F/A-18F plus four escort F/A-18F

 

NE100 performed the strike on the airbase while NE102, NE109, NE105, and NE107 performed the escort flight to BadrAB. Flight left approximately 0040 local hours while the escort flight left approximately 0020 in order to sweep the area of enemy CAP. NE102 detected and engaged two F-14As, which were both shot down. After that the escort flight detected two F-4 Phantoms coming from the east. They began to engage the Phantoms, the AIM-120C software fixed and destroyed one. Two minutes into the engagement the escort flight was ambushed by two Mig-29s, with NE109 being shot down. Remaining crewmembers did have voice contact as pilots did eject safely. However it is believed that NE102 while maneuvering became disoriented and crashed into a mountain while in ACM with MiG-29s. NE100 managed to successfully destroy the runway at Badr AB. All enemy aircraft (2 x MiG-29, 2 x F-14A, 2 x F-4E) were shot down.

About time the Air Force got in on this from up North...

 

Take off uneventful at 08:00hrs joined up before the border and pressed in no initial dectection from any EWR/GCI or SAM sites also no airborne warnings of any type, also no EW for any hostile air from E-3. After 40 minutes inbound flight at M.8 started receiving paints from a HAWK CWAR and shallow paints from a ZSU-23-4. I fired my Pre-Briefed missile and set the other for the ZSU-23-4 in case we needed to strafe and Mamba 2 fired his pre-brief Harm. My Harm took out te Hawk radar Mamba 2's missed at this point it gets a little interesting as Mamba 2 is lining up for his second shot and I take mine we get bounced by 4 F-4E's looking for a fight. I unleash my Harm which misses and turn towards at this point 2 calls out he has problems and is disengaging south. Phantom lead has already locked me up and fires a Sparrow down on me from 30000ft I dive to the ground and evade and return the favour but with Slammer flavouring. Scratch one F-4E I lock his wing up and fire the Slammer initially tracks and then goes stupid as the F-4E pumps chaff into the sky and also fires a pair of Sparrows down on me both missing. The Aim-9x does not miss on return mail. Problem 2 F-4E's still in the fight and looking for one and both fire a sparrow each at me chaff and manuevering defeat them next problem I fire my last missile and it gets confused as these guys are welded wing and both are popping flares so the Aim-9 finds no home to hit. Switch to guns and close this is going to get interesting both F-4E's split and both go for a circle fight I latch onto the lead but his wingman moves in on me preparing for a 9P shot bank right and stand on the brakes wingman overshoots brakes back in and engage wingman gun kill and he's down and out. Lead is coming back in on me so a 9g turn is completed and then out he goes in front and he's in a bad place out of speed and height and out of aircraft guns kill complete. Turn back in towards the target area and make 2 strafing runs killing a Rapier site. Mamba 2 had a weapons system malfunction so we turn for home landing successfully.

Took off at 1919 hours lead pair armed with four HARM-88D’s and second pair armed with two HARM-88D’s and six Mk.82 Snakeye. En-route to target NE103 shot down one F-4E using six AIM-120’s and NE110 shot down another with two AIM-120’s. Strike group advanced to target area with NL522 and NL523 engaging targets on Kharg Island but failing to score any hits. NL522 was hit by a SAM and destroyed with the crew ejecting. NL520 and NL521 attacked main target with both aircraft launching four HARM-88D’s. NL520 destroyed one Hawk CWAR, one Hawk PAR and one ZSU-23-4. NL221 did not destroy anything.

 

(The problem is that the AI has no idea how to use the HARM-88D properly. I may just have to let them use something else like Mavericks.)

Take off before lunch, we have chosen a path mainly over the gulf. Just before the shoreline the RWR went crazy and i managed to evade a Sidewinder. After a short dogfight i got a lock on one of the Phantoms (although i targeted my wingie, just to know where he is). The guy made some sharp corners and throwed flares like hell, but the missile hit. I was stunned for a few seconds, as the burning F-4E with more holes then a swiss cheese kept flying and heading home. I decided not to follow him into a SAM barrier and went after his wingman. A burst out of my guns ended his career in the IRIAF. Ammo Bunker was hit and we wanted to fly home for a cold beer as a single F-4E jumped at us again. The Sparrow wasn´t a real threat, as he didn´t had a lock and just fired to do something. We turned towards him and the IRIS-T had no problem to find it´s target.

Mission: Ammo Bunker Strike against Bushehr AB

Aircraft: 1 x F/A-18F (NE111)

 

NE111 departed Ali Al Salem at 0642 heading solo to Bushehr AB. Flight had no incidents except for lock on by threat radar (no launch). NE111 launched one JSOW striking the bunker. NE111 then launched a second JSOW, destroying the bunker. Aircraft landed safely with no incident.

First Attack is in the fight. Reaper 21 and Reaper 22 took off from Kuwait Intl on an Armed Reconnaissance mission hunting for Iranian military assets along the roads south of Ahvaz. An orbiting MQ-9 Reaper had spotted a convoy of vehicles departing an Iranian military facility earlier in the morning. Upon our arrival on station the MQ-9 crew back at Creech AFB in Nevada that was monitoring the convoys progress immediatly vectored us to the area to prosecute the targets. Knowing of our distaste for civilian collateral damage the Iranian forces are trying to use civilian vehicles to transport weapons and supplies to their forward forces near the boarders. After an initial pass on the convoy which drew fire fron AK-47's fired by the passengers of a couple of the vehicles, the offending vehicles were terminated with extreme prejudice... easy money. We were then vectored to the southeast and directed to dispach a cargo ship berthed in the port facilities in the river that were confirmed to be carrying both light and heavy weapons manufactured in China. As we transited to the south we ran afoul of several mobile ZSU-23 and Tor-M anti-aircraft units. I directed Reaper 22 to attack the ships while I dealt with the ground threats. After clearing the area and damaging the Ship Reaper flight returned to Kuwait Intl with slight small arms damage to Reaper 22.

Mission: Strike against Tehran Command and Control Network

 

Assets: 2 x Strike Aircraft (RAAF F/A-18F) and 6 x Escort/SEAD (RAAF F/A-18F)

 

Target: Government Office Buildings

 

Flight departed Kuwait International at 2008 Local time. Flight approached the target from the east to break from previous attack patterns from the south. As the flight neared the launch point of its stand off weapons our RWR were lit up by an unknown air threat. Flight two consisting of FORD 2-1 and FORD 2-2 were ordered to engage the air threats while the rest of the flight continued on towards Tehran to attack the Government Office Buildings. FORD 2-1 engaged and destroyed the lead enemy fighter with an AIM-120C7. A second AIM-120C7 fired by FORD 2-1 damaged the second enemy aircraft which was identified as a J-10A, a third AIM-120C7 was fired and destroyed the damaged J-10A. Meanwhile the rest of the flight destroyed the primary target with 2x AGM-145C-1 JSOW. A second government Office Building was destroyed as a target of opportunity by an AGM-65G. 4x Tor-M1, 1x ZSU-23-4Shilka AAA, 2x Hawk CWAR and 1x Hawk PAR were destroyed by the rest of the strike force conducting SEAD over Tehran. An additional 1x Tor-M1 was damaged. A Civilian Grain Mill was accidently destroyed as collateral damage by 20mmM61A1 Vulcan fire.

Mission: Strike on munitions warehouse in Tehran

Aircraft: 1 x F/A-18F NE101

 

After verifying damage on Tehran SAM/AAA sites the mission was given by USCENTCOM personnel who provided information on the munitions warehouse. NE101 departed Ali Al Salem and proceeded at low level to Tehran. Upon reaching the area NE101 detected and engaged two J-10 aircraft. NE101 launched two AMRAAMs with one destroying one aircraft and missing the other. NE101 continued pressing on the remaining aircraft, attempting to surprise it by launching an AIM-9X, damaging it but was also hit by a close range missile and severely damaged. For some unknown reason the J-10 pilot did not press the attack and NE101 launched both JSOWs which eventually struck and destroyed the warehouse. NE101 reports firing his last AIM-9X but missing the J-10 as he was egressing at low level. Upon realizing his damage NE101 did what was called a "gear check" which was determined from reviewing the gun tape that he did it while still in Iran. Aircraft lost the right stabilizer and reviewing the tape showed that the pilot had difficulty in most flight with a port leaning flight profile but managed to successfully land the aircaft without further damage.
