For anybody in doubt to why armed force is sometimes necessary.

 

The man is the CiC of the Netherlands Armed Forces, and lost a son in Afganistan.

exhausted: You Served!! That serving in itself is enough to be proud of.

 

Veteran-(definition):A veteran is a person who made out a blank check payable to the United States of America(or whatever country you served)for the amount of "up to and including my life" to be cashed at any time.

...I feel ashamed that as a Dutchman I havent seen this before, and at the same time proud of an honest, very inspiring soldier, acting under difficult circumstances. I consider him (and his predecessor Dick Berlijn for that matter) outstanding in their role as Commander in Chief, true assets for our armed forces.:good:

And for the record (unthinkable and horrible): his son, Lt Dennis van Uhm was killed just THE DAY after his father was appointed CiC.................
