hi all my name is barnesy12 from IL2Freemodding

i have been reading this thread with interest as i believe this is the 3D model that i imported into il2  for freemodding with many changes

i thought i might post a pic or two to show those interested how it ended up

the model now streches to six variants including the A25 shrike

would post more pics of the variants but apparently this is all you can upload on a free account i think?

cheers Barnesy

there's a max limit to picture attachments until a certain number of posts has been reached (unfortunately, I don't know WHAT the number is!!!) However, you can create a user gallery in our main gallery, and upload bunches and lots!!

===================

nice looking model!!

like the detail on the Yagis

looks like a -5 with single piece blown canopy

markings don't quite look right, however (tail code and VF-17 badge). But a good looking model. I take there were shot in IL2?

If you look in our WW2 downloads section (US Origins), you'll find Helldivers and Shrikes. Many skins too!

Yes Barnesy, Veltro kindly agreed in sharing his Helldiver with FreeIl2Modding in order to get the plane into Il2. Is all in the Curtiss credits. So Kudos to Veltro!

if that's the case, one wonders if the mapping is the same, and if so, then they (the SF2 skins/decals) could probably be used in IL2

Barnsey, if you're a 3d guy, talk to us!!

There's a "substantial" number of ww2 aircraft we're in need of 100% Freeware versions!!! (check the "What Freeware Aircraft" thread sticked above. And ground objects, too!!

thanks!

Will the daidalos team include this one in a future patch?

Edit: just found the answer in a forum: IC made an agreement with Northrop Grumman not to include more models of any of their aircraft, or ships, or any other NG products, without their permission. The wording of the agreement has not been made public. This specific agreement takes precedence over copyright law.

I understand that IC was forced to sign the agreement because a Grumman Trademark, the word "Grumman" had been used in the original box artwork without permission.
I believe that the trademark was the main issue not the use of 3D models representing Grumman aircraft.

Team Daidalos are bound by the agreement. Modders however are not.

yes of course all credit to veltro  he has made alot of people happy   it was a considerable amount of rework to get him into the game and sadly many  many parts could not be used as the way il2 reads only one side to textures etc  have added lots of new things cockpits perforated dive brakes new canopies and things

the mapping had to be changed unfortunately as il2 reads only one map for the aircraft as far as the skin goes so all had to be remapped onto one skin

i am curious as to what aircraft you would like to see in your game will check the freeware thread i have sorta been specialising in pilots for a while as well

a couple of russian  and lufwaffe pilots i have made for il2 and  the HG111 i made some new engines etc for in game to make him the high speed version
