I remember talking with them/ him several years ago. I was genuially interested in being an investor for the company. Seriously things were looking good finacially for me then (unlike they are now) and I was going to invest in TK. He was kind enough to tell me that I wouldn't be making any money. He also went to outline a plan they had for several cellphone apps because the PC market was costing them too much money. Something about $10,000 to make one plane. So they were focusing on the app and pay to play market. I'm not saying they aren't going to stop doing PC stuff ... which would be stupid... but I'm just saying I wouldn't hold my breath. ... okay who am I kidding I would hold my breath because I really really do want to this happen on the PC.

I've always wanted a star wars mod .. no the George Lucas one the other one where the space shuttle fire bunker busting missiles and stuff. ... although the other one would be awesome too.

Speaking off awesome that is an awesome space ship good job!

Would Death Star fit on a standard TK map? How big was the thing?

Something about $10,000 to make one plane

huh?

Seriously, I own latest 3D Studio Max (which is a bitch, if you plan to bake -don't!) the Mach-One-Manuals blueprints are around 15-35 bucks per plane -I know, I've been there, purchased some for my freeware mod works- so the claimage to them being around 10,000..?

gimme this money and I WILL show you how a plane looks... ticket to here included. IF you get the sarcasm.

EDIT: ok, the modeling software costs "a bit" but I won't accept the thought TK buys new copy of the software every goddamn time they model new plane!

Here's how you calculate it:

Number of hours to make plane x hourly rate he pays himself = total cost.

So if it takes say 200 hrs to make a plane and he rates $50/hr, you get $10k! Or maybe 400 hrs at $25/hr, although that means 10 full work week or 2.5 months to do an SF2 plane, which seems a bit much to me.

Hello guys,

Hummm... why not Space 1999 Eagle spaceship!

I'm more and more desapointed by TK...

Modders and skinners are able to create very beautiful, accurate and interesting "products"!

Strike Fighters aficionados need engine upgrades and new functions.

However I know... for TK: "time is money and money is time".

Best regards,

Coupi.

Either that or instead of paying himself paying others in his company 400 man hours at a rate of $25/hr per person... not to mention the bills for the building etc etc. Either way that does explain why it could cost them that much to make a plane.

I think he and those who work for him on the side all work from home, makes no sense to pay for an office when you're that small, but it's possible when he contracts out certain things they have additional overhead.

I used to be full-time architect, I din't pay to myself for the work I've done, it simply doesn't work that way
