+allenjb42 4,234 Posted September 20, 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-29288277 Six Russian fighter jets were intercepted by American and Canadian planes off the coast of Alaska on Wednesday, US defence officials have confirmed. They entered what is known as the Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ), but did not enter US air space. The planes, two of which were MiG 31 jets, left the area without incident. Sounds like the beginning of iron Eagle II And in a nod to that classic movie, the BBC have posted a picture of a MiG 29 instead of a MiG 31!
+Gepard 11,304 Posted September 20, 2014 ADIZ is over the free ocean. Far away from the territorial waters of Canada or the USA. All planes can operate in this area at free will. No need to believe WW3 is starting.

Gr.Viper 131 Posted September 21, 2014 (edited) While the media panics over guys having fun, as a part of the Treaty on Open Skies a Russian Tu-154M Lk-1 will fly recon from Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. The flights will take place from the 21st to the 29th of September with a range of up to 4900 km. Keep your mincers peeled if you're in the area. Also sounds like Buck Danny #44 "The Agressors" (one of my favorites), with a defector MiG-29 intercepted on its way to Elmendorf AFB.
