+Gepard Posted February 22, 2024 Author Posted February 22, 2024 Jimbib sent me some static planes for populating the airfields: Here the DC-9 10 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 4, 2024 Author Posted March 4, 2024 I'm still on TOD object placement. The major job is done. Only the islands of Alderney and Hern are left. Two of six Alderney tiles are already populated with TOD objects. So it looks at the moment: At the moment this tiles are still jpg. I must convert them to tga, to make them to water tiles. I hope, that i can finish this terrain till Easter. 11 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 9, 2024 Author Posted March 9, 2024 All TOD objects are now placed at Alderney island. 10 1 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 9, 2024 Author Posted March 9, 2024 Herm island, made by sat pictures. In the background Sark island, made by stock tiles. I think i should make this island by sat pictures too. 7 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 Jimbib's static parked airplanes at Heathrow: at Gatwick: at Paris Orly: at Paris Le Bourget: 9 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 As promised, i started to make Sark island by using sat pictures. So it looks at the moment: The height data does not fit to the tiles. I must adjust it later. For comparison, in front is Herm island, where the tiles already are finished, and in background is Sark island in a very early development state. 4 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 Step 2 blendig the tiles with Sea tiles. (Stille jpg files, no tga, thatswhy no waves. Will come later.) 8 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 26, 2024 Author Posted March 26, 2024 (edited) Sark island, made with tga files. So wave structures are to see now. There is still a little problem. The blue of the sea does not perfectly match with the blue of the island tiles. I dont know where i made the mistake. Perhaps the mask layer of the sea tiles does not match with the one of the ieland tiles. I will find it out, but this will need time. Edited March 26, 2024 by Gepard 7 Quote

+Gepard Posted April 9, 2024 Author Posted April 9, 2024 (edited) Strange thing. I placed an Eiffel Tower on the map, mid in Paris. In game it does not appear. Then i placed it at Paris Le Bourget airport over a hangar, for orientation reasons. Again the Eiffeltower is not visible in game. Then i flew my test plane exactly over the said hangar and the plane collided with the invisible Eiffeltower. One of the strange miracles of SF2 world. Edited April 9, 2024 by Gepard 1 1 Quote
Wrench Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 is that a new tower, or the very old one from the EAW WW2 Euro map? THAT one is fouled up very badly Quote

+Gepard Posted April 10, 2024 Author Posted April 10, 2024 I found an other Eiffel Tower lod on my harddrive. And to be honest: it's ugly: 2 Quote
+Gepard Posted April 28, 2024 Author Posted April 28, 2024 (edited) Since i made the new tiles for Alderney, Sark and Hern Island is was not happy with the look of Guernsey. Thatswhy i have started to make new tiles for Guernsey Island. The coastline tiles and some inland tiles are already finished. The rest of the inland tiles have to be done. The screenshots showing a flight from east to west. The tiles right of the plane and the coastal tiles are new, the tiles left of the plane are old design. Here you see the transition of new coastal tile and old inland tile. Guernsey Airport is now loacted exactly on the position given by sat pictures. It's still a long way, but it's an beginning. +Gepard Posted April 29, 2024 Author Posted April 29, 2024 (edited) Looping over Guernsey (WIP) Two more tiles are made by satpic. Still 4 to do. Edited April 29, 2024 by Gepard 6 Quote
+Gepard Posted April 29, 2024 Author Posted April 29, 2024 All tiles are made. Now the fine tuning starts. The transition from one tile to an other still have to corrected. The water tiles have to blended with the sea tiles. Then the jpg files have to converted to tga. TGA alpha channel have to create. Then the high field of the island has to fixed. And finally the trees and buildings of TOD objects have to place. It's a long way to go. 10 Quote
+Gepard Posted May 4, 2024 Author Posted May 4, 2024 Swambasts Mc Donalds will be part of Battle of Britain 1960th terrain. 6 4 Quote
+allenjb42 Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Not to be a rivet (or should that be burger) counter, but unless you're going to add ActiveYear=xxxx for every branch, I think McDonalds in Europe might be a little too late for the 1960's terrain: Now, if you had a Wimpy skin for the restaurant you could have them in England from 1954 and in the rest of Europe through the 1960's. Wimpy (restaurant) - Wikipedia That's not to say that having McDonalds will stop me from flying over this beautiful looking terrain. 3 5 Quote

The irony of your post, is it's quite interesting and your eye for detail to pick up on that fact quite impressive indeed. And I like the fact that you proposed a more proper option. OK, let's try to make it better! I did some historical research and settled on this; hopefully a more accurate improvement... 6 1 Quote
