Question about static airliners

Hi!

Anyone know which static airliners do we have? and do we have the MAX available?

And templates?

Have an idea, but need to know this.

talk to Gepard, i know he's done some stuff with airliners recently on his terrains.

Wrench may have a few suprises in his hat as well, at least on the helo side

and you know i have a half million era specific markings for the flyables i've done over the years

I used static airlines in some of my terrains. They are made by JimBib.

Same here, by JimBib

707, 727, 747, 757, 767, "regional jet" (uses Russo's static Sukoi super jet as it smaller than a 737), Caravelle, DC-8, DC-9, Comet, Concord, Tri-Star, A300 series. There's also a Learjet 25

Plus if you know where to look, a DC-3 from "somebody else" (not DAT). I also have some other, made from other things.

Please note, the 707 is the -300 version, and has 2 different versions, one is PanAm the other is BOAC. They're based off the TMF 707.

A lot of these WILL be showing up in the "Espana" terrain rebuild when I get finished with it.

What I'd love to see, is more prop jobs -- DC-4/6/7 series, would love a Constellation (one of the most beautiful birds ever to grace the sky). Also, more general aviation birds; Cessnas, Pipers, wherevers. On any side of the fence.  Those of us that build terrains, have a really good sense of "what can go where" based on stock 3W airfield parking slots, and how to avoid them.

As to helicopters ... that's a tale for another day ... (for other reasons)

YES!!! Those would all come in handy for something, at some time for somewhere!!! The 121 series for Southeast Asia definately. IIRC, russo's Connie is the alphasim...wonder if the textures will work? Well, downloading now

Ed was working on one in Coyote Aerospace, but that is of course sidelined now. it was the newer (not newest) type, so no cigar engine 100 through 300s

will look at it again soon, but i think it was gonna need some MAX fixes. all we had gotten to was the slats when it left off

It'll have to be rebuilt as a static, so slats and flaps aren't needed. Thinner nacelles would be good, but for 'eye candy', it can slide. Just landing gear. Don't even need airliner livery, maybe a stripe. I've removed all such from parked statics, in keeping with the 'generic type'.

Here's the Connie at Lisbon's international. Looks perfect!!!

that said, why not a few basic airlines. Lufthansa, Pan Am, BA and Air France for Europe installs, American Airlines, United and Southwest for US. 

iirc, dude at YAP RW got serial nums on static C-17s by declaring them non moving boats. could use my decals from over the years in a similar fashion........

trust me, ya don't wanna go down that road. while not a difficult, even if each is in their own folder -- and this would have to be the way it's done, AND each lod would have to be uniquely named, with matching uniquely named textures, it's not really worth it. (i've already ran that road, with C-130s, and trust me on this)

Note the Caravell next to the Connie, while it "should" have Air France markings, don't. So it can be used anywheres.

I've been putting the statics directly into the terrain folder(s), but inside their own sub-folders. We've been able to do that for ???? some time ??? and it makes not only for a (slightly) cleaner more organize folder, but does allow for textures to be linked directly to a lod, even when same names are used (example are some C-130s I've using)

 

Souli: not flyable (or flying) , but a static Terrain Object. But thanks for the links!!!

My only request would be, if you could use jpgs for the textures. My (very) old PS.6 doesn't like them much (or running in win 11). With your permission, I wish to edit the existing ones to jpg.

 

(and I'm too old and narrow minded to learn GIMP or Paint.net -- been using PS for 20+ years!)

I have GIMP though I'm a steady PS guy myself. When you got the industry standard why go eleswhere? Anyway I do use GIMP to convert .xcf files to .psd though, but that's all I need it for.

its funny. i pay for a PS subscription (along with the other apps), but continue to use GIMP

PS doesnt have much more that GIMPs current versions do, and i always liked it for decalling better. 

im going back to school in teh fall, so i guess ill use PS more then

I started that project with Florian, but as everyone knows Florian is long gone from modding.

From my side, I´m more & more doing DCS stuff.

But I can send you what I have and you can work on it & maybe release one day...

it'll likely be awhile before i go back to airliners. hell, the upcoming BUFFs are just a brief break from ANG fighters. But 737-100s are .... enticing

 i was hoping you were gonna release what was done. from the looks of your shots, the model was completed, although Florian liked to get it right before letting anyone else see it (ive worked a few projects where i provided model QA while skinning )
