Got it. It's a good archive of the file, I'll replace it now. Thank you 33Lima.

I want to update our language packs that we use on our site. The language packs change the features and functions to a user set language for easier operation of our software. There are no limits to the languages we support to make our boards more user friendly to members around the world. For obvious reasons some languages are in higher demand than others. My business proposal is simple and available to anyone who can translate from English to another major language. I will award the work and set up a simple way for those interested to translate and verify their work. This is an on-going opportunity that will appeal to sites around the world that use the same software as we do, and there are thousands. If you're interested in making some extra spending money each month contact me by PM so we can discuss the details.

We somehow got on the topic of porn and you chime in about "popups"? Wow your timing is exceptional. No there are no ad pop-ups, pop-unders, page loads, etc., those are not permitted with AdSense. You will find those with other ad services but since we only use a quality and qualified ad service (not everyone can be an adsense publisher) our ads are very straight forward, no surprises. Although I have seen some rich media ads which expand when you mouse over them, but you can close them quickly or let them play with no hassle or mess. Oh yeah and we don't play any stupid ads that start playing automatically with audio that is obnoxious when trying to read something then you have to find the stupid thing to close it or shut it off. We don't do that either.

There's something about watching old porn that disgusts me, it's probably knowing what the old porn stars look like today that kills it for me. It's like watching the super8 your grandma and grandpa had hidden. You just don't want to be that guy. EVER!

Wait!? There's music in porn? I've been watching it all wrong all these years.

Open question(s) regarding performance
Erik replied to almccoyjr's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
We did a lot of experimenting with PROPS which is a pylon racing program for FS that Russell Gilbert helped us create. I mention this because this is 15 guys all flying together, using internet connections, and other aircraft with their own textures (which speaks to the point about multiple aircraft being the cause of stuttering) but when you're racing in close proximity stuttering will kill you especially in the case of MSFS where DirectPlay guessed the location of aircraft when packets from other users weren't received or received out of order. Given that what you're testing isn't this scenario, but ... we found some noticeable improvements in stuttering when we reduced the poly count in the other aircraft (aka Ai aircraft), this specifically helped because of the compression, decompression that happens and whether the processes can be offloaded to another thread or VPU. What we found is that we wound up against a limitation that wasn't so much hardware but software. Sure having a nitrogen cooled processor helped and 3000 CUDA cores with 10GB of GDDR5 was great but when you're trying to run the game and do all the rendering on the same thread you end up with stuttering. I suppose to be more specific only certain things were offloaded to the VPU where the aircraft that had a model and textures wrapped to that model still all went through the game rendering handled by the CPU. Now when games become better at multi threading you can offload some of those expensive video requirements for processor cores and give you better performance for lower costs. I'll be interested to see what you come up with knowing that CFS3 and MSFS are similar in design, even though I believe CFS3 was directx8 based and MSFS directx9 based. I'm starting to confuse myself remembering all that we went through. Good luck! -
Erik. Will you take these IOUs?

Sure, send them all over and I'll be happy to accept. Might even provide a review of the goods. -
Open question(s) regarding performance
Erik replied to almccoyjr's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
The best configuration if you can get there. SSD > SATA > CPU > MEMORY to run each processor / core > VIDEO CARD with sufficient memory and processor. Where most people find their bottlenecks are in interface of the disks, cpu memory, video processing/memory. Scenario one makes little sense, unless there's a specific reason for the configuration. If each of the HDD are 7200 rpm you can assume about 100 MB/s throughput and let's say you run them on a SATA interface which will carry 150 MB/s the two disks combined if reading together will flood the SATA interface causing a bottleneck. Firewire 800 is about 80 MB/s and USB 2 is about 40 MB/s and USB 3 is about 125 MB/s. This problem get's worse if you increase the speed of the disks to say SSD or 10,000 RPM in a multi-drive configuration. In your example it appears you have at least three disks that information is coming from OS, GAME, SCENERY. Scenario two will be faster though you're taking away core memory to create the RAM disk which isn't a wise idea just a cheaper one than actually buying SSDs. Keep in mind most games don't use threading very well, so if you have an 8 core processor most of them will be idle during game play, especially if it's an older game like CFS3 with OFF, etc. In my opinion the most notable differences you'll see are changing your HDD to SSD and getting a better video card, that's assuming you have the mother board and processor(s) to handle the video card upgrade. Ideally you'll want to benchmark the changes to validate any noticeable improvement. The hardest part about a DIY configuration is knowing what pieces play nicely together and where you can squeeze performance or trade costs. Also all the crazy information you'll get from people like me who each have their own view of what's best. For me I start with what's known (is my cpu slammed, are the disk(s) thrashing due to high read/write, is my video memory buried, etc) and work backwards to get the best solution at the moment for what I want to spend versus what I need to fix. Just my 2 cents on the proposal. Edit** I should also mention that SATA II (300 MB/s) and SATA III (600 MB/s) are more the norm these days depending on your motherboard. Good luck. -

You're talking about something totally different. The problem discussed here was an issue with our cache files. This issue has been resolved and is NOT still around. The problem you're talking about has to do with browser hijacking. That's something that is still fairly prevalent and not anything we can control. A reduction in surfing those lures of free questionable pron sites usually helps. -

It's probably not known which is the very first, but in 1928 a test signal was broadcast of a felix the cat doll on a turntable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJqeufU_BQU It was broadcast 2 hours a day so engineers could study the television technology. Probably scared all those little green men back to the delta quadrant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAGp-WQHfXo

I was living in San Diego in the 90's and I won a call-in contest for all inclusive AC/DC passes. These boys played their backsides off to a packed house and it was a great memory. After the show we met the band and Angus signed my Gibson and gave me three pics from his pocket that were reduced to nothing. Cased and hanging on the wall in my office is this icon to my younger days. These Scottish lads get my vote if they'll give us a release to use it, I for one would be tickled black.

In an exciting announcement CombatACE is proud to introduce our new theme music. More on that in a moment. In a heated debate this morning over stale donuts and wrongful coffee we had a discussion about the ads on our site and ad blocker extensions or plugins. We learned a tremendous amount from our time this morning and our discussion brought in experts and viewpoints for both the pros and cons of ad blocking software. Our focus group enlisted the past experiences from ARS Technica who like us have been online for 12 years or more. This is without a doubt one very interesting and well written editorial comment. I encourage you to take a few moments to read this: BLOCKING ADS AND OUR FUTURE I'm proud to announce that our decision falls directly in line with ARS Technica. While we could nag, or mention when we know software is being used we have elected not to. We have found no reason to force anyone to do anything because in today's world we know it's about choice. However like ARS Technica we hope you understand why our ads pay the bills and what we face every month to provide our services. Like ARS we are very grateful for everything you all do to help out, and we know our strength is in our community, and that's where we should focus our time. If you have taken the time to whitelist combatace.com in your adblocker or view our ads we want to recognize you as well, thank you. Now as promised, our new theme music. THEME MUSIC

I was kidding. I've never known anyone to have a copyright on a name. Wrench does like to model tho.
-
Ratchet Wrench is good too ... but then you'd have to model the character after our Wrench here.

Probably rebels flying Syrian equipment without Assad's knowledge. Seems legit.

Just goes to show you with the right amount Viagra and sizable checkbook anything is possible though I doubt he'll be "engaging" anything at a warp factor these days. Good luck SPS I hope you have a good body double.
