  1. Well I wish I could tell you all it was some kind of huge drama but it wasn't. I've been prepping our equipment for a new release of forum software. Most of that includes upgrading services and some behind the scenes wheels and cogs that makes everything here work. The reality is that we never officially went down. The root domain http://www.combatace.com always worked but once you ventured past that to a dynamically named portion of the site like http://forum.combatace.com the page not found error was occurring. Dave alerted me at 7:04 AM my time there was a problem. Finding the problem took about 4 minutes once I was able to get to a machine I could work from. Fixing the problem took about an hour to rebuild bind (DNS Daemon) and resync the database. Officially named portions of the site came back online at about 3:10 PM my time. Total loss of connected and dynamically named portions of the site, 8 hours. All of that because I typo'ed (dropped the "e" from combatace) while compiling. Feel free to take me out back to the wood pile. I probably deserve it. E
  2. Getting back to the torrent issue. Consider corrupting the torrent.
  3. I don't want to derail this thread but ... Talk about over clocking ... there's clocks all over the place in that photo. Carry on gentlemen ... sorry to interject my humor in a serious thread. OVS feel free to delete this if it gets in the way. Just me E
  4. Shedward's words are always good practice. Thank you for those. The thread was removed because as a community it served no greater good. When a discussion can't be salvaged fairly it's often best to just pull it. It's not something that anyone enjoys doing but it's a healthier solution than the alternative. Please don't let this stifle your passion and hobby, it's just a common side affect of a large vibrant community like ours. On behalf of all us who sit on the firing line. Thank you for the concern and understanding you've shown. Erik
  5. You just found the first bug and here I thought I had it all under control. PROBLEM: Existing members with a subscription can't add an additional subscription. (Example: A premier member can't be both a premier and overkill subscriber at the same time.) FIX: Unknown until I have time to look at this in more depth. WORK AROUND: As kludgy as this is members facing this problem will have to create a new username / password on the forums and use that new account combination to purchase the overkill product. Sorry Diego ... I thought I thought of everything. Erik
  6. I PM'ed him earlier. He'll fix the file at his earliest convenience.
  7. 62 downloads

File Date: 6/16/09 This file created by Kevin Burns uploaded with permission. http://www.kb-sim.com/downloads.html If you have an earlier version, delete it and install this one. The zip file contains the full package as of 6/16/09. Install by extracting TucsonPhotoFSX or TucsonPhotoFS9 directory to your hard drive. Start Flight Simulator and add the new TucsonPhoto directory to the scenery library. Tucson/Pima County Key Plan Tucson screen shots (FSX version) Tucson screen shots (FS9 version) The FSX version of the scenery is roughly 5500 square miles covering most of Pima County. The base ground textures are done at 2m/pixel. The airports use 1m/pixel ground textures. The FS9 version uses standard resolution and is slightly smaller. Both sceneries include lots of autogen, with night lighting and water. The FS9 version includes only summer textures in the zip file. In the texture directory is a batch file (duplicate_textures.bat) to copy the summer textures to the other seasons. 8. Keep an eye on the overkill forum section for news and announcements about this. The price was intentional so I could get everything into place. E
  9. Aaron it's not the site potentially but the machine or machines that are probably unpatched or not updated that have security vulnerabilities. If you take a look at your ASN (hosting provider) the issue is more serious than just pilotspub.org. I'd suggest you seriously look into some pretty quick answers or find a new home to host the site. Take a look at this link :: http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/saf...p;site=AS:15244 :: If I can be of any help let me know.
  10. You got that warning advisory from Google. The reason is because one of the images that shows in that thread is hosted on the pilotspub.org site. It's actually in Aaron's signature. http://www.pilots **edited** pub.org/SpectreStuff/Spectre_USA-9G.jpg What Google was doing was telling (warning) you that there was a link to a potentially harmful site as determined by Google. Here is the report from Google about the PilotsPub Site. http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/saf...ctre_USA-9G.jpg It's no big deal as long as you don't go to PilotsPub and download the same stuff that Google says is there. Someone at PilotsPub should take a peek at why this is being reported, but as Dave said there's not much we can do about it except ask Aaron to upload his signature image here and not hot-link it.
  11. It's an inline style sheet issue to be exact. Are you mostly concerned about the links in various posts or elsewhere on the forums?
  12. Reply to my message and we'll see. Thanks. Erik
  13. File removed. Thank you for letting us know.
  14. Not sure which section has 37 pages of files, at least I couldn't find it. The problem isn't making the categories but moving all the files. What you're asking is a huge undertaking. It's like redesigning the whole dewey decimal system. I'll kick it around with the guys and see if we can figure out how to move 5000 files around. No promises though. E

  16. A 500 error can be anything. Basically it's a loss of connection to the server. Looking at our logs I don't see where we have any connectivity issues tonight. Could be browser related, or internet related. If you're using Internet Explorer try using FireFox. Sometimes the security settings in IE don't work to well. E
  17. What's the error message? .... Hard to fix if I don't know where to start. ... Kind of like saying yeah my car is making a funny noise.
  18. The image size or video size is unlimited so it should not matter if an image is above 1MB. I must say that a 1MB image is big but it still shouldn't matter. E
  19. I can check that real quick but that shouldn't be the case ... standby.
  20. I just posted Funny Guy in the aviation gallery. No server error here. More details please. :)

  22. Yes please. ... here's your sign. (Credit: Foxworthy) The main forum current tile is "Wings Over Israel / Wings Over Europe / Wings Over Vietnam / Strike Fighters" and it works well because a search engine actually sees those and gives us better indexing because of it. Bad indexing would be if we shortened the name to "WO*/SF" because people are less likely to search for WO* versus their product like Wings Over Vietnam. That in mind I wouldn't want to see a main forum title that wasn't search engine friendly, sub-forums are another story they can be whatever and it won't matter. I wouldn't change the name to Thirdwire Series as it limits the search returns. We could and probably should include Thirdwire Series in the main title but I remember when I changed the names a while back that it was incredibly long and adding Thirdwire made it longer. Since we get less hits from Thirdwire searches than we do from the specific game title I left it off. If we wanted to correct something I suppose we should do something like. Wings Over Israel / Wings Over Europe / Wings Over Vietnam / Strike Fighter / Thirdwire
  23. Are the files different so that they can't be used in either version? If so then maybe a division is necessary but highly kludgy as our download section is pretty well defined as it is. Imagine duplicating all those file areas just for a new release of SF. I'd probably want to favor just asking that the files that are SF version specific be labeled as such and let the downloader verify that he's getting the file for the right SF series. Of course we're open to views on the subject. Erik
  24. nay Search engines like full names. Just my 2 pennies.
