Widowmaker is coming....
FastCargo replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Y'all come on down to Texas...though closer to spring or fall than the summer, otherwise you'll bake. There's a lot of places to go if you're into that cowboy thang, plus fishin' and camping. Big Bend has some beautiful area...and if you're into plane spotting...there's a low level in the hills that B-1Bs use...you can actually LOOK DOWN on a B-1 as it goes by at 540+ knots... FC -
Egtxxxx or whoever...multiple accounts are a violation of site policy. Pick one account or the other...then send a PM to an admin requesting the one you don't want to be deleted. And if folks want to help you, they will, trying to badger them into doing so will only anger people...and get the attention of the moderators and admins. FC

Condolences to his family. How I feel about his decision making is another matter. FC

Hey Timmy, A good option is to export the aircraft twice...once with decals and once without. Use the decaled one at a shorter range to fix the bleed, then the non-decal exported one for longer range to help save frame rates. Some aircraft you just can't do anything about, even if you fix all the spaces and meshes. It sometimes has to do with the overall shape of the aircraft. The Super Hornet was a prime example...I literally sealed up all the edges, but it still bled (in fact, it bled worse) on the body because of all the nooks and crannies. The T-38A and it's brethren have a similiar issue due to the wasp waist. FC

Shadows on planes in SF2

AGOSTINO, Try it out and tell us. If you can't find a SHD file for those aircraft, find one that looks close and use it. FC -
SF2E
FastCargo replied to Spiff's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Well, there is a CAT extractor here at CA that works with the SF2 series, and you will need it at some point. However, for simply adding weapons made for SF2, the answer is that you do NOT need a CAT extractor. Weapons and Guns are now treated like aircraft, and each has it's own individual folder, data.ini file, etc. It's simple drag and drop now...no more messin with the Weapons Editor except for if you are trying to bring a lot of old weapons over at once. As far as the canned single missions...couldn't tell ya. FC -

Shadows on planes in SF2
FastCargo replied to snapper 21's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I believe that particular author has long since left the modding scene. For those who might be new to the ThirdWire series, modding for it has been around for over 5 years, with many changes to the code since then. A lot of the older models will have problems in the most recent series. Most issues can be worked around...some will never be fixed. For this one, like snapper said, probably the best thing to do is remove the [shadow] entry. FC -
The Airshowsmoke effect is designed to use the stock TW smoke effect, which is a grey/whitish. If you're using an effects pack, that TGA may be black now. Recommend just going into the AirshowSmoke ini and near the bottom, it specifies which smoke TGA to use. Simply change that, and it should change the color of the smoke. Couldn't tell you why decals aren't appearing, others have gotten it to work in Gen 1 sims. FC

Here's my guess, not having tried doing this yet. The Gen 2 engine may be thinking the old cockpit LOD file is the new cockpit LOD file because there is one in the new Gen 2 sims already (ie F-100 COCKPIT.LOD may actually exist already). Anyway, the sim engine then assumes the old LOD is the new one, tries to read the bitmap information, can't, and you get what you see. Try renaming the old cockpit LOD and see what happens. FC

The Dog Sabres need some work. It's going to take a day. Folks, I would ask that although we want to try to keep these as close to the original 'out of the box' as possible, that doesn't mean fixes can't be implemented or at least completed (such as AB effects for the EF2000, etc). Also, I know KB won't mind if you include weapons from his SF2 weapons pack, with any fixes they need (such as shadow entries). I've been testing these with bone stock installs, to make sure everything works and is available (all effects, weapons, guns, etc). Obviously, we don't want to go crazy with customization, just fixes to make sure of the quality. FC
