Structural failure....
FastCargo replied to Kirsten's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The FA-18 is a 'soft limit' aircraft if I remember correctly. Which means you can pull right past the limiter if you use abrupt control inputs. In other words...a max rate/deflection pull at 675 knots is a dumb idea. Oh, and for those who wonder about effective flight controls, ask Jug about the T-37 max G onset rate... FastCargo -
But as far as I know, the basics of the instructions have not changed. In essence, you need to create an 'area' in the targets.ini of WOE for the carrer to roam around in. Then in the particular campaign data.ini file, you need to add CarrierUnits which assign specific carriers to specific areas, then you need to designate squadrons with the same campaign data.ini to use those carriers. Assuming of course, that you have the carriers in the GroundObjects folder to use. FastCargo

Sometimes, it's nice to get away from the LCD screen. As some of you know, I work for a major overnight freight carrier, and sometimes, I get nice layovers. This particular month, I'm doing Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. For those who don't know, it's a very nice cosmopolitan city, crowded, but nice. My wife is originally from this area, so I have lots of in-laws (parents and siblings) to visit when I come here. I liked the area so much that we decided to buy a piece of land to build on when we retire (20 years from now). But not out in Vancouver (waaay too expensive) but in a place called Point Roberts, Washington state, USA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_Roberts,_Washington What's nice about the place is that it's only about 5 miles square...literally any place there is accessible from any other place with a 30 minute walk at most. And no more than 4500 people at most...usually only about 1500 people. Included is a crappy cell phone picture looking from the shore in Point Roberts to Vancouver Island: What the picture doesn't convey is the smell of the air...the sound of the waves flowing on the beach (well, the shore...beach is a generous term), the light breeze wafting and the view of low clouds hanging on the mountain tops on Vancouver Island. Ah...paradise...even in the summer it just doesn't get that warm, and everything is green with a capital G. It's really cool to sit at the local coffee shop (or bar, take your pick) and just listen to the breeze while enjoying a beverage of choice. Sometimes, it's the simple things that really matter... WW2 Crash at Take Off
FastCargo replied to Evan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Depends...if you patched with the Oct 08 patches, the prop FMs have been majorly messed with....that may be your problem. FastCargo -

Trust me folks...it looks sweet in motion... FastCargo -
I'd agree with Tannethal here...I think what's happening is that you are using the wrong version of the WeaponsEditor. When you have the weapondata.dat file in the Objects directory, the sim isn't seeing it, and so uses the stock weapondata.dat (which explains why your new weapons aren't showing). When you put it in the Weapons directory, the sim does see it, but can't read it properly, and so you have no weapons at all. FastCargo

More Pics From WPAFB and the AF Museum

If you mean the ACM, that's correct. FastCargo -
Okay, here's an idea: Grab the following files: WeaponEditor.exe (the version compatible with the sim) Weapondata.ini (with your new entries in it) WeaponEditor.ini Put those 3 files in a new directory...doesn't matter...heck, put it on a USB stick if you like. Open up the WeaponEditor.ini file and change the following in bold: [WeaponEditor] TargetDirectory=E:\Universal ThirdWire Install\Objects\Weapons ImportDirectory=E:\Universal ThirdWire Install\Objects\Weapons PositionX=255 PositionY=492 Change the bolded parameters to the directory you put those 3 files into. Save the WeaponEditor.ini file. Now, right click on the WeaponEditor.exe file and open up the Properties tab. Then click on the Compatabilities tab and make it Win98 compatible. Okay, now you're ready. Run the WeaponEditor.exe file. Use the editor and open up your weapondata.ini file with it. Then hit the Save button. DO NOTHING ELSE in the editor. You should see a new Weapondata.dat file created in that directory. Then take the Weapondata.dat file and put it in the Objects root directory (or the Weapons directory...either works). Make sure there are NO other Weapondata.dat files anywhere else in your Thirdwire sim directory. Run the sim and see if your new entries are in there. FastCargo

While drinking with my Hog buds... Hello! My name is Joe, I fly Warthogs. Don't go too fast... I ain't awed, By your burners as ya' pass. I'm a yankin' and bankin', Killin' commies in their tanks. I'm lining up on a tank, What a world of hurt he's in. He'll be a crispy critter, I hope he don't check right and extend. (CHORUS) "Warthogs don't go fast, I ain't awed by your burners when ya pass. SNORT! I'm a yankin' and bankin', Killin' commies in their tanks." High charts, high approaches, And that 'High Flight' poetry, I don't need for sendin' Ivan to the infirmary. (CHORUS) I gotta tank in my six, Can't shake him, whatta I do?!? Speed brakes! Hard turn! I'll kill him when he overshoots. (CHORUS) A no-notice check, The SEFE sings the same old song. So he finds a ground cord, And plugs it in and runs along. (CHORUS) Don't need speed, To make Ivan surrender. I don't need an airspeed meter, 'Cause I got a calendar. (CHORUS) A Warthog joined the Navy, For a test a while ago. They put a hook on the front, And they snagged it from below. (CHORUS) Warthogs. Warthogs. Warthogs...

vista and directx 10

Vista issues seem to have been fixed with the newest patches for the TW sims. FastCargo -
You must be kidding... An NSI is far worse than either a UCI or an ORI. I don't miss those days one bit. Will be hoisting a few in Vancouver all weekend. Maybe I'll post a pic or two... FastCargo

Highly interesting: Red Flag lecture
FastCargo replied to Brain32's topic in Military and General Aviation
Warlord, Your TV show link is fine...it's the lecture links that we would encourage people not to put up here. Folks, just a quick heads up. Anytime you find something on the web with markers like 'sensitive' or 'FOUO', it's probably something that should have not been released to the general public. It's not classified (as in 'go to jail for the rest of your life' type stuff) but it's something that could be misinterpreted by media outlets, or something that could be used by threat forces to build up an idea of capabilities. The freedoms we enjoy in our modern democratic societies are a double edged sword. On the one hand, it means we can speak our minds without fear of official government reprisals. On the other hand, it also means that the responsibility to know what's okay to speak about and what's better to keep to yourself is ultimately your responsibility. FastCargo -
