DBS Terrain, Full
WLJet replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Hi Wrench, Is there a Knowledge Base on converting terrain made for SF2 to SF1 Oct 2008 standard? -
China's new aircraft and no one here talks about it ?
WLJet replied to Wraith27's topic in Military and General Aviation
Don't feel threatened? It doesn't sound like the Defense Secretary is brushing it off so casually. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_asiapacific/view/1103550/1/.html -

Dogfight: F-16 block 50\52 vs F-15C
WLJet replied to SandMartin's topic in Military and General Aviation
That's interesting. If that's the case then according to Pete Bonanni the F-16A would have been an even better dogfighter than any of the C version. http://www.combatsim.com/archive/htm/htm_arc1/bonanni1.htm (especially the last interview question in the page i.e. last 3 paragraphs) -

Yup, the static F-20 model can be found in A-Team Skunkworks site under "Weapons and Vehicles". http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/ -
The Double D's
WLJet replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Double Ds. The concept sounds really interesting. I only saw this thread on New Year's Eve but decided to give it a try. Not too keen to attempt in WOV campaigns so decided to settle upon: WOE August 06 patch Mods: 1) Nato Fighters 1 with Environmental Mod 2) UberAI V2.0 3) Comms by USAFMTL Campaign: Red Hammer, 21st August 1968 Campaign length: short (Very busy in real life so I only get to fly sims once in a while; sometimes a long while) Difficulty settings: All hard except HUD mode and Black out - normal Pilot: 2nd Lt Hans "Sabre" King of Danish Esk 730 squadron, flying the "Not so" Super Sabre F-100D. Mission: Strike runway at Wittstock Flight of 2 (fellow wingman another 2nd Lt) Armament: 1 centreline 2000lb Mk84 and 2 pairs of M-117 with a pair of drop tanks; same setup for wingman. Took off at about 5.20am Initially the F-4D escort that was ahead was engaging MiGs enroute to target. But when my flight was near the IP waypoint noticed a MiG-21F-13 at 25K and my escorts were no where to be seen! My guess the Phantoms were out chasing MiGs and went far off the flight routes or they were all shot down (don't recall hearing any allied flights got shot down). Then saw a MiG-17F heading my way at 9k feet. Passed my flight to the right and circled around. I decided to call my wingman to cover my 6. So he jettisoned the bombs and tanks and when to engage it. By then I was only a few miles away from the runway. Climb for some attitude (was low to avoid SAMs) and then dived at the runway and dropped the bombs. the MK84 missed but the all the M-117 hit and destroyed the runway. Just as I engage the burner and turned to the new waypoint, my plane got hit by 23mm ZU-23. Plane on flammes and tumbling in the air. Pilot ejected. Mission summary: Primary target destroyed - 3,000 points but my pilot went MIA, campaign over! So what was the rule regarding MIA? Do our pilots get found and come back for another but latter campaign like POWs? -
Very Very Sad News
WLJet replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
No... 36, that's still so young. I have never met the man nor converse with him over CA but his works in the SF community is unmistakable. Now thinking back of all those mods I have enjoyed and made by him... May he rest in peace and my prayer is offered to his family and friends. -
Hey Agostino, I was just searching for some archive topic and came across this thread: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=9875&st=0&p=46219&hl=a%20i%20sp3&fromsearch=1entry46219 It reminds me of your problem although not quite the same. You said you tried using all the old SFG patches and didn't work. Have you tried installing the SFP1 patches?

Korean Air War Complete Mod
WLJet replied to Edward's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
It's too bad when I 1st bought SFG it already was patched to WOV standards. I sure would like to try the SP2a version. O, I wasn't aware there was flight model improvement between the SP3.2 patch and 083006 version. They felt the same to me. -
That's great mono27! I was trying to see someways where I could get game soundtrack files from my previous games like Fleet Defender and JF2 but without success. So, this is like a dream come true! My only complaint is that I could hear a constant "clicky" sound in the background for almost all the mp3 files. I guess maybe something to do with the file conversion? The LHX game track sounds even more hilarious in mp3 that I remembered in Sound Blaster (basic) I wanted to rate it 4.5 stars but I clicked too fast and ended being 3! I couldn't changed the rating after that!

NF4 Released
WLJet replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Actually the patch is in page 2 of this post. -
Thanks everyone for your replies. Yup, C5 noted well my handicap in ordering from online. Just a little perspective in regards to the price of boxed versions that are normally being sold on the part of the world where I live (South East Asia). 2 years ago in the same gaming shop I saw WOE as a new release selling for about the same as US$40. That was actually CHEAPER than the WOE I bought in Australia!! So here it seems I have a chance to get WOV plus a game I'm not so interested for about the same price if one has to buy a new release here. But since I already have both SFG and WOE especially in WOE the planes for WOV are also available in WOE's ObjectData.CAT except minus the skins, it makes me wonder whether I should spent that entire amount on a game that I kinda already have (except Vietnam terrain, the Vietnam War campaigns and all the various skins for the various squadrons ready made for the campaigns). I was thinking it would be nice to have one dedicated on the Vietnam War but SF2V would have been better and cheaper if I have the means of ordering online. So my choices are that I could wait, hoping later on down the track I would be able to acquire SF2V (which is still a "if") or I could take a more certain path of acquiring WOV plus the other game except it would be much more pricey and also an older and less sophiscated game compared to SF2V. So that's kinda my dilemma for the moment.

Hi guys, I would like to have your opinion on this. I already own SFG and WOE. Yesterday in visiting a games shop hoping to see whether a box version of WOI has finally been released instead I saw a Bold Games bundled edition of WOV and Elite Warriors Vietnam costing about US$40. I'm totally not interested in Elite Warriors but pondering whether I should go back for it because of WOV. As matter of fact that's the 1st time I came across a boxed edition of WOV. 3 years ago I was searching for it but without success. If this is 3 years ago I would have purchased the bundle without much hesitation. But now TK has already released SF2 Vietnam and from what I have read in CA I would consider SF2V as a vast improvement compared to WOV. But I have one problem: I don't use paypal and I don't have the personal means to purchase stuffs online otherwise I would have bought WOI, SF2 and SF2V from Thirdwire's website. So guys do think it's still worth it for me to go and get the box bundled version of WOV?

NF4 Released
WLJet replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thank you C5 for another great mod! After following your instruction on installation, Nato Fighters now sit a whooping 6Gb in my HDD (space is limited for my HDD so that's pretty huge for me ). I loaded TMF MiG-29 for a couple of spin in the single missions. Just want to report that afterburning effects and sounds are missing for the Fulcrum. -
I am running SFG in Vista. No problems for me. I even tried installing Oct 08 patch directly to my v07.0.05 SFG to see whether there are any problems in starting. I have no problems there. Sorry Agostino, I don't exactly know what problems your copy of SFG is having when you tried to install the Oct 08 patch. The only other thing which I can think of but offer no guarantee of success is to first install the older patches from the old archives in Thirdwire website. That is, install SFG patches 1 and 2 which would bring yours to v07.05.05 and from there install the Oct 08 patch. All the best.
