  1. I just added some more items to version 3 of the F-102 cockpit by adding an AC voltmeter, a test reset switch and added more details to the warning panel switch all in the lower right-hand section of the cockpit. Why so many versions?...I never originally intended this for public release about a year ago, but instead for my own "interim" F-102A I had built (minus the exterior model just using the F-106 exterior model). Slowly, the cockpit and aircraft grew in detail and accuracy over the months, as things do, and then was publicly needed with Veltro's beautiful F-102A release. So out it came.
  2. I am adding an AC voltmeter and master warning test and reset switch which some photos show and secondly more detail to the warning light panel. These changes are in version 3 (the V3 edition). These should be up tomorrow.

These F-102A loading screens were made by me about a year before Velto2K released his fantastic F-102A. These have a more original Third Wire look. Richard "Pitts 2A" Ordway Instructions: 1. Unzip contents. 2. Just dump the contents into Veltro2Ks F-102 folder and that's it. 3. Say yes to overwrite the files. 4. Remember to backup your files. Enjoy!

  5. The F-102 cockpit is back up for download in the jet cockpits section. You just dump the files contents into your F-102 folder and say yes to "do you want to overwrite files" questions. Remember to back up first. Link: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=8719
  6. I uploaded the dedicated F-102 Cockpit again this morning Wednesday, April 15. In the new version, I added credit to Pasko instead of Dave (my goof) and added the ability to slightly see the wingtips from the cockpit (thanks to Lexx_Luthor). Otherwise it is the same. I do not know why it is not up yet.
  7. I fixed it and rereleased it and uploaded a second time this morning (Wednesday 15). I don't know why it is not up yet. However, there is almost no difference between the first version and second versions except giving credit to Pasko instead of Dave (my goof) and now you can just see the wingtips from the cockpit (thanks to Lexx_luthor) where you couldn't before.
  8. Here is a side by side, errr top to bottom, comparison of the released ordway F-102A cockpit and Pasko's beautiful F-106 cockpit. One looks like a space shuttle and the other like....a 1950s cockpit.
  9. These issues are now resolved and uploaded in V.2 for both the F-102 flight model and cockpit. Thanks to Lexx_Luthor and Dave.
  10. New modded F-102A Cockpit was uploaded. It is based on (EDIT Pasko's) F-106 cockpit with rounded gages being used instead of tapes, no moving map and other graphical changes. Several color photos were used as a base.

This is an alternate flight model I developed about a year before the F-102A Delta Dagger was released by Veltro2K. It is based on Pasko's F-106 flight model, but modified in deliberate ways. I used Mirage 3 flight models as a guide as well as it is underpowered and has that huge hanging delta. After I finished, I stop watch timed its climb compared to the F-106, and it matched the specs very closely if I remember right. I added more drag as well because of the more forward air inlets and other drag producing features. I played with the engine thrust until the climbing numbers worked out. Although a beautiful flying airplane, it bleeds off speed much faster than the F-106 (and the standard released F-102A) in high G situations due to less engine power and more drag. It also climbs much slower, but still not bad compared to contemporaires. However, It really is not a dogfighter as some would claim the later more powerful and more refined F-106 was. I have dogfighted this flight model against all types of early Migs to the Mig-21. If you keep fast and boom and zoom with its incredible radar system, you can equal the Mig-21 and sometimes kill one. Thanks to Pasko for his incredible F-106 flight model. V.3 changes. The drop tanks are now droppable. Thanks Lexx_Luthor. It was Pasko's F-106 flight model not Dave's that I based the F-102 on. Thanks Dave. The pilot in the extenal view in now in the cockpit which some people had problems with depending on how much had been added. Instructions: 1-Backup your files! (This time I really mean it...you may not like the flight model!) 2- Unzip the contents of the F-102 flight model folder to ...\SFP1\Objects\Aircraft\F-102A\. 3-When prompted, overwrite the files. Enjoy!

This is a field-modified Convair F-102A Delta Dagger cockpit for Veltro2k's beautiful F-102A based on Pasko's F-106 stunning cockpit. It has been modified over time by crews in the field as newer equipment came in and older equipment broke down and needed to be replaced. Apparently historically after time, almost no two F-102A cockpits had the same equipment in the same places as the others. This is based on Pasko's beautiful later Convair F-106A Delta Dart Cockpit. Tape gages were eliminated. Round gages were added. The moving map was removed and the radar display was changed and made a historically correct orange. The radar hood was made into a F-102A version. Lots of other detail work done was from actual color cockpit photos. It is much "greyer" and simpler than the later F-106A cockpit. The F-102A was actually involved in air-air combat in Viet Nam while on a B-52 escort mission. One F-102A was shot down in ambush by a Mig 21 with an Atoll missile on 3 February 1968 according to the ACIG website. Another F-102A shot several Hughes AIM-4 falcon missiles at a Mig-21 but the results were not seen. According to the ACIG website, a Turkish F-102A was in combat against Greek F-5s with shootdowns and other combats reported in July 1974. http://s188567700.online.de/CMS/index.php?...14&Itemid=1 Thanks to Pasko for his fantastic F-106 cockpit included in the complete later F-106A Delta Dart that you can download at CombatAce. If I forgot anyone, I appologize and please tell me. I finished this cockpit about a year before the Veltro2k F-102A was released and I lost track of things. Apparently some USAAF Viet Nam pilots jury-rigged a mini-gun into the F-102 for some extra buzz. Version History: V.2 You can now see the wing tips and wing tanks from the cockpit...thanks for Lexx_luthor's suggestion Thanks to Dave to point out the goof I made that it was Pasko's F-106 cockpit and not Dave's that I based the model on. V.3 Added to the bottom right instrument panel: 1) an AC voltmeter and 2) a master warning test and reset switch which some photos show and 3) more detail to the warning light panel as per color cockpit photos making it even more different than the standard F-106 cockpit. V.4 Added the huge signature F-102A red nav indicator light to the middle of the panel. Changed the colors of the artificial horizon to F-102 specific colors and markings. Changed the colors of the Radio direction instrument to F-102 specific colors and markings. This is probably the final version. V.5 I now included the very specific F-102A artificial horizon this time with gray-blue top, gray markings, black bottom with blue markings which I left out in V.4 by mistake. If you compared the photo with the current F-102A artificial horizon, you can probably see the difference. A visual thread showing these additions: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=39881 Instructions: 1-Backup your files! 2- Unzip the F-102 cockpit to ...SFP1ObjectsAircraftF-102A. 3-When prompted, overwrite the files. 15. If you want to add realism to your game, I find that using models is a really great enhancement. It makes the game come alive for me so that I can compare a Yak to a FW-190, Bf-109, etc. especially in this large scale. This is the first-ever Yak-1 in the large 1/32nd scale that I have seen and I have waited my whole life for one in this huge scale. Use your search engine if interested. Supporting them will hopefully mean more versions coming out in the future.
  16. I know it sounds stupid, but it was in the news quite a bit a while back (1999)...it might also be coincidental. However, one Pensacola cadet apparently did extremely well by mocking up Pensacola, and the T-34 in off-the-shelf M$ Flightsim 98 before doing primary flight. Apparently, he was so succussful, if true, that the Navy copied his basic program. ie. You might want to look into M$ simulator for pretraining. He had a stick, throttle, rudder pedals as well. The original articles in newspapers are long-since erased but some follow-ups still remain. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa38...907/ai_n8858226 http://www.baseops.net/flightsimulators/ http://archives.cnn.com/2000/TECH/computin....idg/index.html http://www.openp2p.com/pub/a/p2p/2001/08/2...war.html?page=3
  17. I am an ERAU grad. I was highly impressed with the education...it wasn't "ivory tower" crap but real-world oriented. I've been out since about 1990. ERAU grads keep getting mentioned time and again in my life. I highly recommend it for an aviation career. They were good about having links to jobs as well. I worked my ass off though while there...but it was worth it....but expensive. But yeah, you need to consider if the money is worth it. You don't want to be in debt until you are 40. Talk to a community college advisor first to try to get a sense of what you can do. But, I really loved it and don't regret it at all. I praise you for asking questions like this when you are young.
  18. It is already there. It is called the Corsair 1. You can download US skins for it.
  19. Hmmm, so Kevin, I'm confused. Is there a place to download the F-80 pit? I seemed to hear "yesses" and "noes" all over the message?!!! Thanks, Richard "Pitts2A" Ordway
  20. I also buy extra copies to help out...as you said there are so few flight sims any more being produced. Remember, the art patrons of the 1700s-1800s which allowed timeless works of art to be produced.
  21. Thank You! Fantastic. I've been waiting a long time for this one. I didn't realize how huge the F-101 was until I saw it in a picture next to an F-4.
