  1. It probably has to do with what you're using for your throttle control. You should go into the controls area where you map buttons and axes and check where the burner detent line is in relation to where your throttle control is. If you see your throttle is going past that line, it should be working.
  2. Oh yes. My friend had it on his C-64. As I've said before, crap graphics but it was still fun.
  3. It's not on my vacation list!
  4. It may be a cliche now, but seeing that, I feel the need...the need for speed!
  5. Well, seeing as we've not proven life can exist on a gas giant like Jupiter or Saturn, they're presuming from that fact. We've yet to detect a planet close to Earth size (ie where gravity is 2x or less Earth's) in a "habitable" zone (that distance from the star corresponding to where Venus, Earth, and Mars sit), so therefore not habitable. Could there be a planet that would allow that around those stars as well? Maybe. Could there be a moon of one of those gas giant planets that could, as Star Wars showed us? Again maybe. We don't yet have the ability to notice them, so we can't say. The main reason this is significant is because until now our solar system was the only proof we really had that you can have multiple planets orbitting a star. We've detected single planets conclusively, but we've only presumed they were really "planets" and not just a failed binary star. We've never known if the presence of one such body in orbit around a star might prevent the formation of a regular solar system. There's always been this "is the solar system a unique oddity?" concern among cosmologists. The fact that we've now seen another, so close to us, indicates the probability that there are many similar others has gone up exponentially.
  6. All it proves is that Kennedy was only hit by that one shooter, not there weren't others ready to take the shot in case he missed. Also there's no solid proof that I've ever heard that Oswald actually was that guy, unless I missed something. You know, the REAL assassin was someone else and Oswald was just the patsy setup to take the fall because he was, well, a whacko. The Ruby-kills-him-then-dies-quickly-of-cancer-himself was awful convenient as well. However, there remains one OVERWHELMING problem with the lone gunman theory that the gov't can't debunk--why are so many details of the assassination report then classified? There's no state secrets involving one nutjob with a rifle shooting from a window, so what's up with THAT? Either A) there's more to the story than we've been told and that's kept under wraps or B) some of the people who were remiss in their duties that "allowed" it to happen had their negligence classified to keep themselves safe. Can't go losing your job just because the President was killed, can you?
  7. If today wasn't a Friday, I was prepared to sleep with whichever person in power I had to in order to have it declared such...
  8. I guess the fighter jock's natural predilection towards bragging went too far that time.
  9. http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/space/11/13/n...nets/index.html I knew it would happen someday, I just didn't expect it to come from Hubble after all these years let alone a ground observatory! I thought we'd have to wait for the next-gen orbiting telescope.
  10. So how long does it take to finish the entire game? 45 mins?
  11. The old "My Docs" is now \Users\*name*\Docs. Videos, music, pictures, all have separate folders outside docs.
  12. *insert Polish rifle joke here*
  13. Ah, anti-pirate pirates! They go out and prey on pirates, taking anything they've stolen for themselves and killing all the pirates! Arrrrr!!!!
  14. Oh, the "Chinese Food" method (I call it that because of the "Column A" combined with "Column B" characteristics) is probably the biggest source of CMIs here. The problem is it's hard to know ahead of time if that will be classified so it happens by accident, harder to prevent. We do have little signs up all over with stuff in "column A" and stuff in "column B" that says "if you cross the line, problem!" You can put as much stuff from column A in one document/email that you want, and ditto for column B, but just one thing from the other side combined with just one from the first and you've gone and made a headache for the comm people.
  15. Really? Geez, I've gotten less than half of them. I've got less than 300 of the 1000 and I'm under no illusions I'll even get 500.
  16. That's really weird. I've never heard of that one myself. Sound usually is either all or nothing in every part of the game.
  17. Not that I know of, but I'm hardly an expert on it. I've just played it.
  18. Really. Ugh. I can understand not using a missile against those small boats, after all they cost $$ and those boats are cheap. However, I think any caliber weapon from .30 to 16" is warranted (not that we or anyone else have 16" guns out there anymore ).
  19. Don't let facts get in the way of a good activist cause! It's how guys convince girls to sleep with them!
  20. JediMaster

    OMG!

No, he's referring to the USA.
  21. Any "numbers" that are current or even recent I can understand being classified, and they often are like freqs, ranges, speeds, etc, but I'll just say anything that was classified before I was born I have a hard time believing needs to stay that way! Then you've got something like the B-2 where it's not just the stealth numbers that are classified. As they say, it was called the "Advanced Tech Bomber", not "Stealth Bomber" by the USAF.
  22. I've got Final Countdown and Top Gun on DVD because they've got those awesome flying scenes. Stealth didn't do that. I didn't care about the characters, the story was just too implausible (what's with AI in movies being human-smart anyway?), which is saying something compared to FC's time travel, and the liberties taken with flight mechanics (supersonic dive at Mach 3 taking them like an hour?) just killed it. In fact, I'd say the most recent film to have really good combat flight scenes was Flyboys. Nothing screamed DUH at you and they really pulled off those stunts well.
  23. That's because the UK F-4 wasn't a 70s jet, it was a 50's jet with a different engine.
  24. Sometimes the stuff that is still classified decades later boggles the mind. Like the SR-71's true capabilities (when it's been TOTALLY retired for over 10 years), or some of the JFK assassination files (when the official story indicates there shouldn't be ANYTHING classified), etc. The problem is only a few limited people are capable of declassifying things and they tend to err on the side of caution and don't. Another good one is the F-16's exact flight model numbers. The plane is decades old and has been everywhere including in countries that aren't friendly anymore. There's no way the thing's specs aren't in the hands of every unfriendly nation's intel services by now, but it stays classified because maybe SOMEONE doesn't know it yet. I once read the only difference between a classified briefing and what you see on the news is that the classified one has the names of the sources and thereby gives you a measure of the credibility. Something on CNN will likely not be believed by everyone, so you have that doubt which will make adversaries not take it as gospel.
  25. Now THAT is a lot of 1's and 0's.
