  1. That's because you're not scareless.
  2. I hope you weren't on a work computer!!!
  3. Well, those planes were all designed to fly off carriers that had known capabilities, so that's not saying all that much. They also take off from shore runways which may have not only no headwind but crosswind. I would think the only difference is going to be usable payload/fuel load if you have a still/negative wind. A plane that can't use a cat designed for a long takeoff roll like an SR-71, though, is just out of the question.
  4. I got FC2 last night and I'm enjoying it. It plays amazingly fast at max detail on my 2nd-line PC. My only question is why did you put this in the hardware forum C5??
  5. That's why I love my Creative Zen.
  6. Not my fault, it's the DoD!! CA is small enough to slip "under the radar", but SimHQ is now blocked as a "games" site. Proxy server says no go. Maybe if you guys got a new URL I could return. As for accessing from home, I just don't have that much time to do it. What time I have for the PC is spent gaming on it rather than surfing.
  7. Seeing them is only part of the equation. You have to be able to hit them, too. A search radar seeing you isn't the same as a targeting radar. If they know they're there, but not EXACTLY where, or the missiles can't track, then they're effectively still invisible.
  8. Reminds me of that scene in Pvt Benjamin when she first gets to boot camp. "I'm sorry, I seem to be in the wrong Army. Where's the one with the nice rooms?"
  9. I'll never reach the numbers here I have at SimHQ, but that's a GOOD thing. I also only visit there like once a month now since I can't access them from work anymore. The weird part is for having spent so much time there you'd think I'd feel the absence more than I do.

    Fringe

Yeah, I like it. Sort of X Files: the next generation. John Noble is great as wacky Walter.
  11. Of course, there was one way to do it. A carrier that could do 100kts.
  12. What does the "-da" on the AV-8B signify? Only thing I can think of is "direct ascent", but that's because I'm in the launch business so that's where my mind goes.
  13. Ooh! I've been waiting for someone to finally release a plane that looks like Saturn! It's been far too long...
  14. I thought the patches for WOI, WOE, and WOV did just that this time around? I can't say for certain as I don't have them loaded on my only Vista PC yet (a laptop) but I thought I heard that? That's not about DX10 or anything, just simply "working without workaround whilst whistling Wonderwoman wondrously."
  15. I've been killed by more Vikhrs whilst flying A-10s and Su-25s than I want to count.
  16. And as mentioned, if the paint is part of the stealth equation, you won't be able to just do whatever you want either.
  17. My guess is you were hovering or moving very slow? I remember once in WWIIOL I shot down a Hawk with my PzIIIF's main gun. It was strafing a truck in the road ahead of me and I lined up, timed it, and BOOM.
  18. P4EE is a single-core CPU. My guess is this game is punishing without a dual-core.
  19. This story is purely about a radar contact, so it's quite possible it was some sort of ECM test gone awry. As for UFOs, the weird part is most of the stories stem from the 50s and some in the 60s then they stop. I think it quite likely there WAS some sort of visitation going on then that has since cut way back. Maybe they were passing by, spent a few years doing in depth research, then moved on. After all, we went to the Moon then left for over 20 years. We went to Mars with Viking and didn't try again for 20 years. It's hardly unusual to think that we may get "waves" of explorations. I also don't doubt many of them are UAVs...er, U-UFOs? Just probes, hence the ability to make maneuvers that would flatten a pilot.
  20. No, that's backwards. I wish Marmite was toast. The person below me is enjoying the fact that they're below me a little TOO much.
  21. Yeah, there are USAF guys working on the EELV launches here and at Vandenburg. That's a job where you always do what you train to, whether in peace or war.
  22. Well, fighters with camo are only good in 2 instances--when on the runway to make it harder to see from the air, and when flying low to avoid higher-flying enemy fighters. Israel hasn't had to worry about either of those in quite some time. A camo'd plane is worse from a ground attack perspective because you show up against the sky better presenting a better target for the optical aiming guys. After all, aren't the USAF A-10s in gray?
  23. I forget, how many MiG kills did BUFFs get in Vietnam? Wasn't it more than MiGs got BUFF kills?
  24. With the release of Flaming Cliffs/LOMAC Gold a few years ago, all modding switched to that. There's probably not too much new for standalone LOMAC.
  25. This is still an evolution of the LOMAC/Flanker engine, not a totally new one. The new one is supposed to come with the 2nd or 3rd release I think Wags said. As for the campaign, they've not had a dynamic one in any release, so I'm not surprised there still isn't one. EECH is a different kind of sim. The helos were modeled to lower detail, but the overall conflict is modeled to a higher one including airbase capture and resupply and such. EECH was more a "strategic" helo sim while BS is a "tactical" one.
