Hey, if I'm going to be forced to play the thing AND write about it the LEAST you can do is read it. As I said, there's nothing "bad" about it, it's more like this feels like (minus the graphical improvements and some modeling aspects) this product preceded Il-2, FB, PF, and 1946 as opposed to succeeded it as there are a notable lack of features that those had. So if you already paid for it and had it sitting on the back burner for months, load it up again and try it out before you dump it. Nothing to lose but a little of your time at this point. If you have NOT bought it, well caveat emptor because Il-2:1946 + Team D updates + mods may be what you want more than CloD.

Ahem. http://combatace.com/topic/75492-il-2-sturmovik-cliffs-of-dover-final-patch-review/ If only more people would read the front page now and again...

It took me 145 hrs to do all of FNV and the DLCs, just once! I'm now on Fallout 3 (playing them backwards...) and I'm at 78 hrs, still not done, still not touched the DLCs!

While it may not come in such a variety of flavors, I counter your assertion on the taste! I think the real thing tastes far better.

I keep forgetting to grab Black Mesa. I already re-installed Lost Coast to get the Source stuff installed. I guess I was waiting for it to show on Steam itself (I know it will show at some point).

Yes, if only the SP took longer than 4 hours to play. I have many, many older FPS games that took a good 15-20 hrs to finish, a few that took even longer. It took me 40 hrs to play Far Cry 2! While you might argue quality over quantity, there is a certain minimum expected. Would you pay full price to see a 30 min movie? Even if it's really good, it's not a "movie" at 30 mins is it? This idea that these games should be made for the MP, with the SP tacked on as a "bonus", is ridiculous. It should be the other way around. Or make two separate games, one SP and one MP. I'll pay $20 for a 4 hr game, I'm not paying $40, let along $50-60!

Elevate the debate? What debate? Hamas doesn't debate anything! They know they can't beat Israel. It's not possible. Their only play is to provoke Israel far enough that OTHER countries decide to intervene on their behalf (although so far few have done much other than smuggle weapons to them, because no one really wants to die for the Palestinians, they'd rather bluster against Israel over it but not actually risk anything) and hopefully take out Israel. At which point I'm sure they believe they'll just be handed a largely intact country and live up the good life, like THAT would happen. See, that's the great irony. If Iran decides to nuke Israel, then plainly they don't give a damn about the Palestinians because it'll kill them, too, and leave them with irradiated, blasted land! If Israel ever looked about to fall, there's a good bet a nuke WOULD go off in Gaza, making sure no one wins. So Hamas is insisting on fighting a battle they should know they can't win (and I'm sure the smarter ones DO know) but for political reasons they won't give it up, and for religious reasons they'll never waver in their public belief that they're doing the right thing.

If the guy ejected in time, it's probably NOT oxygen-related. That said, there are dozens of reasons a plane can be lost. Technical, pilot error, and just plain bad luck (bird strikes, fuel contamination, etc).

In KOTOR 1 and 2, a Consular was the "all about the Force, not the saber" class. I never did too well at it...

I think Israel should institute a simple reciprocity system...for every rocket fired into Israel, they likewise blind-fire one into Gaza, one-for-one.

I can tell you one thing...if Leon Panetta, Donald Rumsfeld, or Robert McNamara had been killed in an airstrike, you would NOT see me bawling in the streets about it. Is everyone over there bipolar or something? They're like inverse Vulcans...instead of suppressing their emotions, they overdo it like William Shatner no matter what they're feeling.

Soviet Constant X/Have X aircraft?

Don't forget the Tu-4, based on captured B-29s! -
Hold me closer, tiny dancer...

Yes, if your fresh install included Windows itself, you likely are missing DX files needed by SF2. Every patch used to include them, I think even ROF's updates run one every time. Those libraries must be kept current with the program itself.

Actually, that looks like the problem is with the gun stream, not the pipper. That pipper looks right, but those bullets seem to sail off where the nose is pointing w/o regard to the fact that you're turning ie like lasers instead of bullets.

DCS World 1.2.2 Update Released, FC3 Pre-Purchase Released

You couldn't get the Su-25T over 250?? I've even had the A-10C faster than that! -
Ok, while I grant Crimean War, that latter was definitely NOT what would qualify as "invasion." As I said, defining it as "having your military in another's land" is far too broad, even if they're involved in combat ops. Aiding one side in a civil war shouldn't count as there are locals fighting alongside you. By that metric, look how many countries have "invaded" the US at Red Flag in NV! It also would mean the US "invaded" Saudi Arabia in the summer of 1990. I think "invasion" should be limited to "military forces involved in offensive operations for the purpose of taking/controlling territory/resources." Therefore Iraq and Afghanistan DO qualify as the objective was the in-vogue term "regime change" which is another way of saying "putting in a gov't more friendly than the one you get rid of"...definitely an attempt at control.

Other than so-called "warbirds" I'm not aware of any. Like the Vulcan in the UK.

I once went to visit some relatives at a beach house on the Jersey shore. I forget exactly where, only went once in the mid-90s. I do remember thinking the house looked it was built from cardboard compared to what I was used to around here. Looks like Sandy treated them like they were.

Frankly, that's been far more devastating to the local population than the British ones!

DCS World 1.2.2 Update Released, FC3 Pre-Purchase Released
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in CombatACE News
Of course, that's not accurate. The number of misses from fired missiles in the last 20 years is far lower than the old Vietnam era stats. An F/A-18 was even shot down by an AA-6 in DS! Something like LOMAC/FC or SF would have you believe your chances of getting a hit with an AA-6 on any plane built after Kennedy died to be like 1 in 1000. I must say I'm a little surprised by this turn of events. You would have thought they'd simply gone this route back at the end of September (after doing it for A-10C, P-51, and Combined Arms). The delay implied when it was released it would be final, not just another beta. Oh well, no matter. -
Ah, the old days!!

Oh, I wasn't even thinking that far back. I guess I needed to think back farther than 150 years for that.

The difference is Fubar's wording implies a direct connection between TW and Walmart, but it was Strat First's decision to do what happened. IIRC, there was something about Walmart SKU's and getting it to them by X date and yada yada yada. It was because Walmart was like the #1 PC game source for large areas of the nation (due to communities not having CompUSAs, Best Buys, EB, Gamestops, or whatever but having a local Walmart!) and SF not wanting to risk missing getting SFP1 on the shelves for the Xmas 02 holiday. Walmart makes everyone play ball with them, they play ball with no one.
