  1. Air to air combat is not the concern. Dropping bombs vs advanced SAMs is.
  2. There's no doubt the mobile development has slowed work on the PC stuff. However, we can't argue that it's not been necessary as only TK knows how much he's getting from the mobile stuff and how much it's helping his bottom line vs working more immediately on the PC stuff. I'm patient, it's not been all that long yet.
  3. Steam auto-updates. Just let it update itself. Do not install over the top or anything. Steam itself takes little space. There is no way to "move" a game. However, you can uninstall it and then reinstall it to the drive/location of your choice with the latest Steam version. If you want to run the game without being online, run Steam and then choose the option to Go Offline. Note you cannot do that if you're offline! Go figure. Once you do that, Steam will start up and shutdown without a net connection just fine, and you can fly CloD anytime. It's not that complicated, and trying to do the move shuffle in those links is TONS of work and not guaranteed. As for CloD on Steam, it uses Steamworks as the DRM. There is no way to play CloD without it, at all. DCS uses a Starforce derivative called protect, which is why Steam is unneeded. You can have it on or not, immaterial. Arma2 is another game like that. I run it from the folder directly, Steam can be off. Like DCS, Arma2 isn't integrated into Steam. CloD was.
  4. Based on none of that. I was saying that the Super Hornet will be obsolete before the 35 will. Less survivable, less capable (fused avionics-wise), less effective. The SH is still 4th gen, even if you want to call it 4+ or 4.5 or whatever. By the mid-21st century it will be no better than flying a MiG-21 or F-4 today. It really depends on what their plans are. The SH will be a perfectly effective airplane in friendly territory or in an area with total air superiority for decades to come. However, in 2040 I don't think I'll be wanting to fly one into a modernized ADA network facing SA-600s or PAK-FAs or whatever. After all, Israel could've had them too, but they chose to wait for the 35.
  5. Except if they take a Super Bug they'll have to replace it sooner than if they went with 35s.
  6. You forgot the Hulk trashed an F-35B in The Avengers.
  7. Oleg has been out since before CloD's release. He got fed up with dealing with 1C and Ubi apparently and quit. Luthier took over but it wasn't the same. The announcement doesn't mention him and IIRC he's disappeared from the forums.
  8. The spine certainly gives it a unique appearance. Hopefully these will be the most reliable 29s yet built.
  9. Engines?? I can believe a few parts perhaps, but no one can build a jet engine like that except another jet engine manufacturer...and I think if SNECMA or RR or whoever were building engines for Iran it would've made worldwide news!
  10. They'll have a cruel eye opener when they jump out of a helo and try to enter the tank at the last second.
  11. I suppose MS' Kinect.
  12. This makes sense, unlike the way some of the rumors were worded.
  13. Certainly an inside job. Possibly they have a black market contact. Only place I could think of they could go is Venezuela, as they have F-16s that are the same vintage as some of Israel's. You're not going to see the Chinese or others paying for them, there's nothing new there for them.
  14. Impossible to prove. Just like the assertion that the US would've been better off if something different had happened 4 years ago and we'd elected someone else, we'd NOT done the bailouts, we'd done them differently, whatever. Too many variables that are uncontrollable.
  15. I had a book of his I got in the 80s. Still have it somewhere. It's pretty good. A solid midpoint between the stuff Sagan would do and what Hawking does.
  16. Yes, the Vita does, but it came out IMO too many years too late. My problem is that I don't have an iPhone. I don't like them. I like my Galaxy. However, everyone and their mother makes iPhone-compatible items like the one you mentioned, almost NO ONE makes them for other phones. Just like docks for the iPod, and I never could get one for my Creative Vision M.
  17. The fantasy is that any gov'ts over there, whether dictatorships, so-called free elections, or military cartels, will ever be friendly to the West. I don't see why we bother trying.
  18. It makes sense because there are multiple holidays this month, only one of which is Christmas, and many people celebrate more than one of them. Those who have little reason to celebrate often find this time extra depressing as well. Not too many DUIs during Valentine's or Easter by comparison.
  19. I had a PSP, but only got a few games for it because the one-stick design frankly was a problem. I do agree phones are just as powerful, but even today I couldn't play any of my PSP games on a phone, 6 years later. Touchscreens have this horrible lag time, plus the controls are ON the screen you're supposed to be looking at...I can't imagine playing Tomb Raider on my Galaxy.
  20. So, all those bombs are just sitting outside along the planes waiting to be loaded on? Sounds like a prime target to get hit by bombs from a stealthy sort of plane. Just sayin.
  21. I don't know that consoles are in trouble necessarily. Part of the problem is MS and Sony have been lying around on their collective behinds for years, dragging out the most profitability they can get from the current batch. People are getting bored with them because aside from the Kinect there's really not been anything new since the 2nd year of their releases. People aren't buying them anymore because they HAVE one already! On the flip side, portables are constantly improving their specs in display and power, making people hurriedly upgrade from one to the next to the next because there IS a difference. Now will the new PS and Xbox sell worse than the PS3 and 360? Who knows? My guess is that it will be about the same overall. Will they be the LAST? That's a harder question, because then we're talking 2018 at the earliest before yet another generation would come out, and by then it could all change.
  22. Nice carpet remnant pants.
  23. I think the only time I gave something living to someone for Christmas it was a virus. Oh, they're not sure if those are even alive, are they? Either way, it was NOT a hit.
  24. I don't if "legality" is a fair term. There was never anything illegal about the controversy, it was merely a case of whether he was taking credit for things he didn't totally do himself. He maintains his innocence, some others with credibility maintain seeing things in his files that are identical to other people's stuff...stalemate.
