  1. Scramble against a flood of inbound Hornets, and help was on the way.. It devolved into a running fight in and among the hills, with missile shots whenever you popped up long enough to lock a target. Eventually, we downed enough to get a "mission accomplished", but it was time to go when the Tomcats showed up. These guys came to help
  2. These make for interesting reading, if you are interested in just losses. https://www.dpaa.mil/portals/85/Documents/KoreaAccounting/korwald_all.pdf https://vietnamwar-database.blogspot.com/2010/11/aircraft-losses-during-vietnam-war.html https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a434084.pdf http://www.ukserials.com/losses_index.htm
  3. Interesting question. This is a start... https://www.vhpa.org/heliloss.pdf
  4. Sir, we need to talk about your "aggressive stance" and "potentially explosive solution" to what we though was clearly a diplomatic situation................
  5. Since it's just a brainstorming session for now, I was always fascinated by the RAF in Malta, and the location would be great for Southern Med flying... Even though the RAF has vacated the airfields, Malta still hosts a serious airshow, and the airport could handle military traffic in a "crisis". https://vassallohistory.wordpress.com/airfields/
  6. Dropping retards from a 2000 is SOOOOO much fun!!!
  7. AMI - 2004 Power Plant strike in Denmark. We got this....right? SAMS fired at 4 miles, guns never fired until I was about 1 mile out. The target was hit, but the cost was high.
  8. My choice would be RAF Gibraltar. 2nd would be Lajes Field. I know it would require an enormous amount of work to either fit them into an existing terrain, or to create completely new ones.........................but you did ask. And I like to dream big.
  9. Civilian traffic across the tarmac.............Korea, 1984 Gain some altitude at 20 miles... Rolling in.......... Pullout at low level and run for home...
  10. Early 70's... They seem a little pissed that I got thru...
  11. I remember that sim, and it had some interesting concepts. This addition could be quite interesting....and provocative.
  12. Sams & AAA killed every one of us
  13. For those of us old enough to remember being glad to see this bird.... Especially when you went "wheels up" after a sh*tty deployment
  14. The Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) would like to remind citizens of the coastal regions that Tornadoes have been known to spontaneously spawn and cause catastrophic damage........
