  2. Yes, it's less notable in helicoplane. I found out that if I direct thrust down in that mode and make my speed fall below 100km/h rockets turn off. Then I accelerate (without touching the vector or throttle - just by pitch) and at 132-3km/h one fires and they're unlocked until speed falls below 100 again. There's a border below 100 which unlocks launch too but have'nt fiured it out yet. Should try with unlimited ammo I guess
  3. Hmm.. speed and altitude didn't unlock it. Actually it sometimes makes the game stop, waiting to be terminated. As if something breaks and the plane can still fly or some value is out of range. But when I pulled at the stick like crazy turning and climbing, rockets got unlocked for a while. When I restored level flight they froze again. What exactly does the collective stick do FM-wise? I'll also try a reboot later - maybe something got stuck in RAM. I got more things to show Really small nits. The two identical lights at bottom right should have the last letter look like H, not X. And what does "cone extended" mean, I wonder And the instrument at top right - it says "Altitude in km". (How) does it work? BTW, the third light implies that the Hip can have external fuel tanks. Maybe some stock model can be used? Co-pilots lights are mirrored And turn off the red ones - these are fire alerts. And if you feel luck you can try SEAD in the 60's These guns fire short busts and dodging them in head-on approach is real fun.
  4. Nope, but I've had about enough of hi-tech EECH/AH, and Mi-24 for it is not ready yet. I'm more of a Mi-6 fan... the whole idea that 40 tons can be lifted by a single rotor is crazy. I think I even got a Russian flight manual for it describing the way it handles, landing procedures, gliding on autorotation Loadout fix works But even 500m didn't fix the rockets
  5. Hmmm... nitpicking mode on. Somebody have a look at weapon stations section. One pylon has its mass set wrong and maybe something else if fishy. Odd loadout issue - I cannot put anything but FABs on inner pylons. It's either FABs or empty. But if I don't alter loadouts of AI in my flight (i.e. they have rockets and empty) the actually start misson with the loadout specified in loadout ini. So on the loadout screen I see them have for CAS 2 pods and nothing but in game the have 2 larger pods and 2 smaller pods. If I fiddle with loadout it breaks the default setting. Another odd thing happened when I tried to make a flight of 16 Hips. I kept adding them then went to loadout screen and saw -4 as the number of available pods of one type and empty pylons for all Hips. Had to remove some helos as they were getting their full loadout added by default unlike stock planes. And I keep getting the fire delay bug. Maybe it has something to do with input or CPU speed. I pick rockets, press fire - nothing happens. I lower collective and it starts to decrease smoothly. At some point one rocket fires. If I keep collective lower that this border (barely enough for slow ascent) I can fire without any problems. Above it - ordnance freezes.

  7. Got strange issue - can't fire from the hip (no, I haven't run out of hip puns yet). I choose weapon, press fire and either nothing happens or it fires with enormous delay. I fire FAB but it gets released only 2-15 seconds later. Even worse with rockets. Without quitting the game tried A-4 - all ordnance works perfectly. Maybe it's because I don't use any weapon packs? I tried CAS at 1960 - can't put rocket pods on internal pylons. Anyway, I'm off to sleep. Excellent FM next step should be modeling blade stall and vortex ring

По умолчанию летная модель настроена под нужны AI - то бишь ведет себя как тормозной самолет. Чтобы врубить режим чоппер (который AI не поддерживает) нужно влезть в основной ini Ми-8 и там, где идет ссылка на Mi-8_DATA.ini, поставить Mi-8_DATA_ADV.ini. Шикарная летная модель под Hard FM безо всяких дерганий и непонятных рысканий. Не знаю, чего kreelin там нашаманил, но теперь вектор тяги меняет собственно обороты турбин, а ручка газа отвечает за шаг винта. Можно висеть. Можно лететь боком. Можно кататься на переднем колесе. *далее вырезана буйная радость за будущее чопперов в играх ThirdWire* Если TK еще как-нибудь прикрутит подсказанную кем-то на офф.форуме фичу "навести стрелков на захваченную цель" можно будет и адекватные ганшипы вроде Кобры создавать.

  11. Awesome! It works! It flies! It's collective! :clapping: Now for the some real fun - creating two Hips. One with ADV FM, one with pelicopter or whatever... Generating a mission for simplifed Hips and swapping for the real deal for myself at the loadout screen. Since they have same availability data it will always be possible. I have fun, AI has fun. Mwa-ha-ha
  12. Fear me for I'm watching a movie full of rare footage I think the left one is the same sight as above Voisin 3 bombsight. Do we have rockets mounted on Farman yet? BTW, these things are really wobbly in their "pylons". The launcher frame is rigid but each rocket is free to go wherever it pleases.
  13. I hope no one's zooming on my arse :ph34r: I Moscow we've got CCTV eyes near any buildings of importance, on road junctions, on the underground (aka Metro) both on the stations and in trains. Oh, and in my university we've got those cameras hidden in balls of black glass. Something like two per corridor in one of the buildings. No one watches us there real-time I think - it's just being recorded for posterity.
  14. IIRC, it was mentioned at TW forum. As I understood TK did it to make AI drop more flares but as a side effect the player now dumps them in large numbers. May be it'll get fixed in the next patch.

  16. Did anyone here suggested stopping production of "state of the art sims"? There's just no introductory level sim. No game that markets itslef as "combat sims can be fun!". We're not suggesting going back to SC and F-19 (BTW running them on XP is no problem with the right tools) - they're really too old. But there's nothing to take their place - live chatter and missions full of unpredictable action are all now in sci-fi combat (mech, space).
  17. You said "fun". That's what sims in general lack from the point of view of common gamer. It's all about mastering complex controls for them. In arcade games fun is guaranteed at least on the box. Fight dozens of opponents, use lots of destructive weapons, fun original missons etc. What does a hardcore sim put on it's box? X detailed cockpits, Y highly detailed aircraft, modern weapon systems, support for gadget-no-one-apart-from-simmers-heard-of and so on... And then reviews basically follow the same pattern describing how cool and hardcore it all is. Or uncool and primitive. The difficulty can be dumbed down but nobody makes a point of it. Nobody mentions how unique every engagement of a dynamic campaign can be (who apart from simmers understands what a DC is anyway?), no one bothers to make imaginative single missions not referring to some historical incident, no human characters in game - just ATC and boring wingmen (listen to comms in Strike Commander and most space sims) Even menus are mostly ugly and forbid any mentioning of fun...

  20. I think the controls will be dumbed down but large maps and good 3D models coupled with modern lighting effects could make it quite a nice game.
  21. Russian devs can write programs but they really haven't got a clue about design and immersion... But you have to know they're there to try. I mean, I noticed First Eagles purely by accident and only after that I found out about SFP1, WoV and WoE... No ads, no fancy boxes, no coverage in general gaming press (until recently TK's sims weren't even listed at MobyGames). Here in Russia if we have a dedicaded sim-shelf in PC game store there will be boxes of Il2, bunches of LockOn, probably some helo sim, MSFS, and then there will be a shelf with "the others" which will probably include a TK sim along with loads of arcades and dumb and ugly sim lookalikes.
  22. Actually there's gonna be a version of Il-2 for consoles. It's in developmnt at the moment but I saw the trailers at Russian game dev conference... Simpified, of course
  23. The strange thing about modern sims is that there's no well known "fun sims" anymore. If some newbie wants to try some games about air combat you get either completely arcade stuff or things like LockOn boasting they've modeled systems in all their complexity. No Strike Commader, no Jane's sims... Sure people who started simming a long time ago (I think simmers crowd is older than average gamer) know about good old stuff and can play it. Sims were gradually increasing in complexity so many old timers got used to controls, increasingly complex modeling etc. But no such thing for new players who don't know old games, don't want old games (for dated graphics and compatibility issues) and are left with "all or nothing" choice in terms of difficulty...
