  1. Some blame it on counterfeit Chinese components being not up to spec. Didn't they find a high percent of those even in the US military avionics recently? http://www.bizjournals.com/seattle/news/2011/11/08/boeing-military-products-may-contain.html ... Ah, even funnier. 62% of electronic components in Fobos were reportedly made to industry spec, not space. Common sense explanation is that the launch was rushed.
  2. OK, the final official results are in. What did they come up with? Apparently the interplanetary probe's electronics were not shielded against space radiation.
  3. The eternal flightsim curse: heavy road traffic and planes with big working guns are never encountered in the same project.
  4. Never seen it. I have collided with this on more that one occasion, however http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westerholt_Power_Station
  5. Thanks! So many shots and I'm a nonalcoholic! Ok, I'll have some extra tea.
  6. Weapon modders sharpen your cursors, the MOP is not enough for bunker busting. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203363504577187420287098692.html?mod=us_news_newsreel How tall's the janitor?

  10. Yes, the area where it happened seems to be in the province with the nuclear reactor. The guys who fly them (30 years without manufacturer support?) must have incredible guts and sense of duty.

CA: The new update has broken my pee.
  12. The current endurance isn't spectacular though http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/01/26/us-iran-plane-crash-idUSTRE80P0I520120126 http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/nationworld/sns-ap-ml-iran-fighter-jet-crash,0,7591164.story It seems, the crew didn't make it.
  13. "The game's just not complete without the corroding effects of seawater"
  14. If you want to practice hovering, do not put anything under the wings and don't load ammo. That will let you take off and land vertically, but the Harrier is highly unstable in hover mode (seriously, it's worse than almost any helicopter). On an ordinary mission you can't really take off vertically since you're too heavy, but after expending the ordnance and burning some fuel you might be able to land. That's a good way to fail a mission, unless you do a helicopter-style landing: simultaneously slowing down and descending while keeping your eye on a spot on the ground, going into hover a metre above the spot for a second and vertically descending onto the concrete. That as well. Thrust vectoring is of little use without the thrust.
  15. Bananas on the cover of SF2NA? Makes perfect sense

  20. He didn't specify soon enough _for what_.
  21. I can just see that... ED looking at our screenshots of P-51D fighting F-16 in SF2I and thinking: That's exactly what the public wants! Seriously, what the hell? Is the release planned for April, the 1st?
  22. Who isn't restricted?
  23. The article mentions the ship has previously passed even closer to the shore with no damage
  24. Just like flying a Bleriot across the ocean.
  25. Could make a pretty fps-killing sight if the model stayed mostly intact with only a few rails missing and multiple holes in the tank streaming vapor.
