Dual Bomb Rack
Gocad replied to littlesmoke's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Nevertheless this does not change the fact that the BRU-57 rack is not used when you select your loadout manually. -

Awesome. It does have Slammers with naqahdah warheads, right? -
Dual Bomb Rack
Gocad replied to littlesmoke's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
There are 2BR racks in the Weaponspack that carry their bombs side by side. Search for "BRU_57" This is the result of a little 'experiment' I conducted recently, testing the flexibility of the loadout.ini file. However, I have not figured out how to make them show up, unless you count in some loadout.ini abuse... -
Holy, this thing can move

Me thinks you need a heavy dose of Clint Eastwood. -
weapons pack and f 104
Gocad replied to X RAY's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Take a look at this post. The weaponspack uses different designations for certain weapons, which makes the stock loadouts of some planes useless. -
OMG! AN-12!
Gocad replied to Sgt.KAR98's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hmm, just checked the WOV's ObjectData.CAT and found the C-130, the F-104, the Su-7, Il-28 and the Tu-22, but no An-12. Odd. -
A-12 Avenger

I have modded the loadout, too, but went a different route, as it is a more restricted one: Loadout[01].WeaponType=AGM-88C (AGM-84s or 65s could also be mounted here) Loadout[01].Quantity=1 Loadout[02].WeaponType=AGM-88C (see above) Loadout[02].Quantity=1 Loadout[03].WeaponType=AIM-120C Loadout[03].Quantity=1 Loadout[04].WeaponType=AIM-120C Loadout[04].Quantity=1 Loadout[05].WeaponType=GBU-38/GBU-12/Mk82 (larger bombs don't fit into the main bomb bay) Loadout[05].Quantity=8 Based on the information I have been able to find on the web, this loadout should be quite close to the planned loadout of the actual plane. The size of the weapons bay also support this...of course you could load some GBU-24s into the main bomb bay, but that looks just wrong, seriously. The AIM-120 may seem to be an odd choice, too, but given the way how the AA missiles are mounted, the Sidewinder seems impractical to use. At least I was unable to get a lock with the Sidewinder... Now, if I knew how to teach the A.I. pilots not to drop all GBU-38s at one target, it would be a perfect loadout. -
Super Tomcats
Gocad replied to cgold's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It's interesting to see where the threads about the Tomcat lead to. I think there is no other fighter jet in the world that is capable to spark such discussions... To be honest, I wouldn't give much about the Iranian Tomcats anyway, there are probably only a handful, if any airworthy left. It seems to me that one reason why the Tomcat was retired was simply that they had become difficult to maintain, which is not that unusual for a complex design of that age. -

Yeah, look at the second post in this thread. Hint: It's the second file. Anyway, after some testing and tweaking and figuring out how the other weaponbays are opened...well, I really like it. If only that stealth thing would work... -

Only if you include the conversions. (I had to satisfy my curiousity, so searched the web a bit and came up with this:) From M.A.T.S. "All in all some 712 F-14s were built by Grumman: 632 F-14 for the Navy & 79 for Iran (80 ordered, one built but not delivered)). In detail it was 557 F-14As, 38 F-14Bs & 37 F-14Ds. Additionally, 48 F-14As were converted to F-14B standard and 18 F-14As were remanufactured to F-14D standard." So I guess, without a new cockpit you could sell a GE engined F-14 as a B-model, and with a new cockpit as a F-14D. And in the meantime I will continue to dominate the skies over Vietnam in my trusty A-model. -

Nope, VF-154 had the A-model. After all, there were no more than 40 F-14D built when the production was stopped. Did the F-14B (or A+) also have the new cockpit of the D-model? -
MV-22 Osprey Update v3

Looks interesting. I had no idea that the engine could model tilt-rotor. Btw, nice Hammerhead. -
Crusader Update?
Gocad replied to Tantobot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Actually the French Crusader was never much different than the Navy Crusader, except for some minor chnages, like certain modifications to carry French missiles. Informative webpage about the Crusader (and many other warbirds) -

UFO! UFO! LOL, this looks hilarious. But it's actually quite a nice plane...especially when armed with 10 GBU-38s. However, I did encounter somewhat of a problem, namely how to open the other bomb bays. I just get the main bomb bay to open (using CRTL-O), but not the secondary bays. I know, it's a BETA, but still, a hint what to do would be nice. -
Weapon station Loading?
Gocad replied to Tantobot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes. And, as you may have noticed, the Loadout.ini even allows you (to a certain extent) to mount weapons you couldn't add manually at all. Come to think of it, you do not even need splitting up the weapon groups to have an asymetric loadout. Of course there remains the problem that certain weapons are not available all the time... Modified loadout in 2009: From left to right: IRIS-T, 2 GBU-12E on a BRU-57, 2 AIM-120C, another AIM-120C, ASQ-173, AIM-7P, 3 AGM-65 on a LAU-88, 2 GBU-38 on a BRU-57 and an AIM-9X The same loadout in 1984: From left to right: AIM-9M, 2 GBU-10 on a BRU-57, nothing, AIM-7M, ASQ-173, AIM-7M, nothing, 2 GBU-38 on a BRU-57, AIM-9X Strange, I have no idea why the AIM-9X or the GBU-38s show up there... Also, how do I get the BRU-57 smart rack to show up without any Loadout.ini modifcation? -
Where do you like to start?
Gocad replied to tw7222's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Alt-N or starting near the target can be problematic if the enemy flies some advanced aircraft. You jump in, your RWR starts to scream and in the next second you're blown out of the sky. So much for using shortcuts.... -
How to use LGB ?
Gocad replied to Luiz Carlos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
No. But I think the new C-model will have this capability.
