Odd aircraft - Dornier Do 200 for example
Gocad replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
Yeah, I guess that is what Rockwell's designers hoped for. Stupid reality. -
Chavez vows revenge for Falklands war
Gocad replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
IMHO it's just another version of the same story Chavez has been playing since he has come into power. In fact it's the same story every dictator is using to rally the people to support him. You attempt to create unity within your group (or society) by identifying an enemy outside your group (usually that's the US). It seems to me that Venezuela isn't big enough for him as seems to consider himself to be the spokesperson for entire South America. Maybe I'm wrong about this but I don't think that the inhabitants were all to pleased in 1982 when the Argentian troops appeared on their island. But perhaps this was English propaganda, too. Who knows? -
There is no big deal in changing the .ini files. You can open them with notepad or some other text editor, make your changes and save them. And that's it. Looking at the post above this one I would have three questions: a) Is this unit really the first USAF unit? b) Is "666FW" present in your Squadron_list? If not, replace 'Squadron=' with 'UnitName=' c) Is "USAFtng1" really the name of the F-15C skin folder?

Indian Air Force floats tender for 126 fighter jets
Gocad replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
Hmm, not quite. The Luftwaffe had simply no need for the MiG-21s and Su-22 of the former East German airforce. The only aircraft that were taken over into regular service were the few MiG-29s that had been delivered to East Germany in the late 1980s. -
Yep. The F-108 was an interceptor design, similar to the British TSR-2 and the Canadian Arrow, but it never went beyond the mockup stage.

What the Century series has in common is that they all were supersonic fighter aircraft designed and put into service in the 1950s. And at that time their capablities represented basically a quantum leap compared to the planes the USAF had used just a few years earlier. That would be my explanation. Also, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

Indian Air Force floats tender for 126 fighter jets
Gocad replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
My utterly subjective opinion is that both the Typhoon or the Gripen are nothing more than outsiders. I say that the serious contenders are the MiG and the American jets. -
Disappearing tail numbers WOE
Gocad replied to GreyCap's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
None I can think of, but you can select the tail numbers for your plane group in the loadout menu. -
Disappearing tail numbers WOE
Gocad replied to GreyCap's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
They are not gone, it's just that 3rd party skins come with less tail numbers than the stock skins. Tail numbers are randomly chosen for single missions, thus it's possible that a number is selected for which there is actually no tailnumber available. -
Re installing
Gocad replied to Viper6's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Main folder, actually it's all preset in the install rountine, so unless you altered the path (see below) all you have to do is to click 'Next' or 'OK'. The path should be something like C:\Program Files\Thirdwire\Wings over Europe -
A2A missles

I still think that you did not d/l or properly install the weapons pack. Link: weapons pack. -
Some Problems
Gocad replied to Wraith27's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, guided missiles or smart bombs were added later, I do remember that in the stock WOV without any patches applied these weren't available. Besides, the stock loadouts reflect the typical loadouts used in 60s. The 'smart' weapons (LGBs, EOGBs, EOGRs, etc) that are used these days all the time were still under development back then and rarely used. -
two seaters
Gocad replied to triplethr3at's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
In the download section, of course. (Add-on aircraft > Modern Aircraft > A-10) It's part of the A-10A package, version 3.0. -
22 in HP w2207 Monitor Power
Gocad replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That's truly epic. -
Hmm, did you add weapons to the unit entry in the campaign data file? Player Unit entries should look like this: //----- Player Unit [AirUnit118] AircraftType=A-4C Squadron=VA192 ForceID=1 Nation=USN StartDate=4/1965 DefaultTexture=USNGrey1 StartNumber=25 BaseArea=Yankee Station CarrierBased=TRUE CarrierNumber=31 BaseMoveChance=0 RandomChance=100 MaxAircraft=16 StartAircraft=16 MaxPilots=16 StartPilots=16 Experience=100 Morale=100 Supply=100 MissionChance[sWEEP]=0 MissionChance[CAP]=0 MissionChance[iNTERCEPT]=0 MissionChance[ESCORT]=0 MissionChance=90 MissionChance[CAS]=100 MissionChance[sEAD]=80 MissionChance[ARMED_RECON]=50 MissionChance[ANTI_SHIP]=0 MissionChance[RECON]=0 UpgradeType=NEVER Supply[001].WeaponType=Mk81 Supply[001].Quantity=1440 Supply[002].WeaponType=Mk82 Supply[002].Quantity=1440 Supply[003].WeaponType=Mk83 Supply[003].Quantity=240 Supply[004].WeaponType=LAU-3A Supply[004].Quantity=80 Supply[005].WeaponType=LAU-10A Supply[005].Quantity=80 Supply[006].WeaponType=BLU-1 Supply[006].Quantity=480 Supply[007].WeaponType=Tank300_A4 Supply[007].Quantity=480 Supply[008].WeaponType=CBU-24B Supply[008].Quantity=480 AI units don't need those supply[xxx] entries, but they're necessary for the player units. If you're not sure what weapons you should add, then take a look at the loadout file of the plane type you want to insert.

JAS 39C Gripen Progress
Gocad replied to Gux's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Meteors...nice! -
There are some variants of it that can be found in the Cold War section, but like Wrench said, it's actually a stock aircraft, except in WOV, although its Objects.cat contains most of the files. All you need to make it show up in WOV (as an AI only aircraft) is a skin and some .ini files.

What do you think?
Gocad replied to i90807065's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
"normally"? You do realize that you're comparing a fictional plane with a really one here, right? -
AFAIK there are no nukes in the stock SFP1/WOV/WOE, but the WeaponsPack has plenty of nukes (mostly Bombs like the Mk43, B61, B83, but also CGRs like the SRAM or Tomahawk and the AIR-2 Genie.) in it.
