Cannot Stop Playing ODS
eburger68 replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Pfunk: Glad to hear you're enjoying it. Note that I just posted a hotfix package to address the issues we're aware of so far: http://combatace.com/topic/71944-hotfix-for-sf2e-ods/ Eric Howes -
Folks: Attached to this post is Update #1 for the "Operation Desert Storm" (ODS) mod released for "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E). This update includes fixes to a wide variety of items as well as updated aircraft, ships, and other ground objects. (See the accompanying ReadMe, which includes a change log.) This update can be installed over the top of an existing installation of the ODS mod for SF2E that already has one of the previously released ODS Hotfixes installed, but those Hotfixes are not required. Note that this update is cumulative -- meaning that it includes the fixes & updates from all four hotfix packages that were previously released for ODS on SF2E. This update will eventually be rolled into a refreshed set of installation packages. Please pay attention to the install instructions that are included, as the installation process for this update does require you to remove and replace certain items. If you encounter problems with this update, please report them here. Eric Howes SF2E_ODS_Update1.7z

Desert Storm Part 1 For SF2

Paul: The problem with the transports is a known problem. We've got a fix that will be part of the HotFix we release. Eric Howes -
dsawan: Product version for Apr2012 is 12.4.2.30. Product version for Nov2011 is 11.11.2.28. Don't know what the version is for Mar2012,but it must be higher than what you have for that .EXE. Note that patching with ThirdWire's update installers will not update/patch any custom .EXEs you've created. You have to manually recreate those from the latest stock .EXEs that get dropped in the patching process. Eric Howes

dsawan: The first thing that strikes me is that error message looks like the kind of crash you get when there's a mismatch between the version of the .EXE you're running and the underlying patch level. If I forget to re-generate a custom .EXE after applying a new update from ThirdWire, that non-updated .EXE bombs out with the kind of error message you're seeing. The second thing that catches my attention is the .EXE name, which has a hyphen and several spaces. Although Windows should be able to handle that file name (and the associated folder name for your Mods folder), I still occasionally see problems with those kinds of file and folder names. That's why I always avoid spaces in such names. Somewhere, somehow, that EXE is not finding what it needs or is finding the wrong thing when it runs. Eric Howes

Pfunk: We appreciate the interest in doing a review. Would it be possible to get a few days to see if any major bugs shake out as users get their hands on it? We did perform extensive testing before release, but with a mod of this size it's almost inevitable that we missed things that intrepid users here at CA will find. We can can get patches out very quickly -- within hours if the problem is simple enough. Thanks, Eric Howes

WhiteBoySamurai: Small problem with the guns, if I'm not mistaken. Gun8 is not called out as a SystemName on the Hull or any of the Superstructures. Gun2, by turns, is called out twice -- once on the Hull, and once again on Superstructure1. I take it the cause of both problems is a mismatch between Gunners and Guns. Gun1 & Gun2 use Gunner1; Gun3 uses Gunner2, etc. The Guns and Gunners are correctly matched in the Gunner and Gun sections, but not correctly matched at the Hull/Superstructure level. Best, Eric Howes

MSPV12: If none of those aircraft is showing where you're looking (and they should all be there) then you're either looking in the wrong place or you didn't install the expansion pack correctly. At the very least you should find an A-6A folder, as that's a stock SF2V aircraft. Try searching your hard drive for one of the folder names. You just might find the others there as well. Eric Howes

SF2 Falklands Mod

diegoesteban: The mod has been tested on Nov2011 with a full merge of all SF2 titles, including SF2I. In fact,I'm running that configuration right now. Eric Howes -
SF2 Falklands Mod
eburger68 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
diegobestan: It runs fine with later patches. The mod was released just after the release of Dec2010, and it's been kept up to date since then. If it were flat out incompatible, we'd have had lots of people reporting it. Eric Howes -
steve1070: If Windows didn't prompt you to overwrite, then you didn't do it right. What you've done is create nested folders, which ensures that the game will never find the new NF4+ objects. Do not drop the Objects folder from the Mod onto the Objects folder in your Mod folder. Instead, select the Objects folder and drop it on the Mod folder itself. The same with the other folders -- drop the Flight folder on the Mod folder, and so on. Alternately, you could select all the subfolders of Objects and drag those onto the Objects folder in your Mod folder. That would accomplish the same thing, and you would still be prompted to overwrite. Eric Howes

diegoestaban: The most likely cause is some error in your installation. What that error is, I do not know. My recommendation would be to try reinstalling the mod after giving installation instruction in the ReadMe another look through. Eric Howes -

Sokal: Glad you're enjoying it. The real credit for the mod, of course, goes to Kesselbrut (who authored the original evrsion for SFP1) and the other modders who contributed models and skins and who worked on the terrain. Eric Howes
