SF2V USN F-4G?
eburger68 replied to stingray77's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
stingray77: The latest update for the Expansion Pack is September 2011, not April 2011. And before asking folks to walk you through a step-by-step process, go through the KB first on your own and do some checking. For example: http://combatace.com/topic/44026-converting-older-planes-to-work-in-sf2-a-basic-guide-by-migbuster/ And then compare with an aircraft that you know is working. Also, try flying the F-4G from a Rolling Thunder campaign. What happens if you select the F-4G for a campaign? Eric Howes -
SF2V USN F-4G?
eburger68 replied to stingray77's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Ravenclaw_007: I'm sorry, but that is incorrect. The full F-4G was added in the April 2011 Update. The current September 2011 Update (which is a cumulative update) also includes the full F-4G aircraft. The Rolling Thunder campaign makes use of the F-4G. The VF-213 skin was not added to the F-4B_65 folder. Rather the FULL AIRCRAFT was added in the update. The same holds true, btw, for the Gen 1 version of the Expansion Pack. Eric Howes -
SF2V USN F-4G?

Stingray77: It's obviously not installed correctly. Check the Knowledge Base for articles on installing aircraft mods in SF2. That should tell you what to check. Eric Howes -

Ok Let's Start A Virtual "NATO"

Folks: I haven't been participating in Operation Darius, but I have been playing around with the mod package. Attached is a little something that I added to my own installation and thought others might be interested as well: a semi-fictional Su-30MK2 Flanker for the IRIAF based on dubious reports of a sale in the works. See the ReadMe for important notes. Eric Howes Su-30MKM_IRIAF.7z -
NeverEnough: Thanks for the heads up. From the ReadMe: Nov 2011 -------- * Enemy air defense units sometimes not re-spawning correctly when Reflying a mission is fixed. * Some of the graphics details have been scaled down to improve peformance and eliminate stutter. * The game sometimes starting in very low resolution when running with Windows 7 Aero enabled is fixed. * Hangar screens not showing on third-party aircraft mods is fixed. * RAF Phantom F-4M (75) is no longer equipped with decoy dispensers, they receive the upgrade in 1980 as F-4M (80) instead. danwatto: No, that's the way "red side" campaigns work. You can fly for the side designated "enemy." This is a short campaign -- 5 days. That particular unit is set to start 11/1/1956. The campaign ends the next day, 11/2/1956. If you want to extend the campaign for that particular unit, set the start date for it to 10/29/1956. You'll have to edit the entry for that unit in both Kadesh.INI and Kadesh_DATA.INI. Eric Howes

Campaign Menu Messed Up
eburger68 replied to danwatto's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
danwatto: In the \Menu folder for that mod there is a CampaignScreen.INI -- remove it (and the 7 other custom INIs in that folder). Once the INI is removed, the campaign screen should work fine. Eric Howes -
SF2 Oct 11 patch
eburger68 replied to Gr.Viper's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Wrench: Even more frustrating is the fact that it didn't need to be implemented this way. I've posted a suggestion over in the 3rdWire thread on the Oct2011 patch: Let's hope this feature will be re-worked. Eric Howes -
SF2 Falklands Mod

jager88: Next time you see that happen, save the mission and post it here so we can take a look at it. Eric Howes -
Hi: I was curious as to the size of this download -- almost 80 mb. The download package includes: - two different copies of the featured aircraft, one in nested folders; - a host of apparently unrelated files in the cockpit directories of each aircraft, including what looks to be a complete set of files (LODs, BMPs, INIs, texture folders, etc.) for the AV-8A, as well as a large number of INIs, LODs, BMPs, and TGAs from the cockpits of other aircraft including various F-4s, the Harrier3, the Jaguar GR, the A-7E, the A-10A, and the Super Etendard. Two questions: 1. What is the difference between the various copies of the main aircraft featured in this package? 2. Are all these other files really necessary? (I find it difficult to believe, for example, that the cockpit directory really requires a complete copy of the AV-8A, aircraft LODs and all.) Thanks, Eric Howes

Nato Fighters problem
eburger68 replied to Dornil's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Dornil: I just tested (again) with that ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI -- no problems on my system, and no one else has reported problems with it in the several weeks since it was released. Please let me know what you find. Eric Howes -
Nato Fighters problem
eburger68 replied to Dornil's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Dornil: Sounds like something went wrong with your install. I would recommend starting from scratch and re-doing it. Most likely cause is that you dropping files/folders in the wrong places or are dropping them in such away that you're left with improperly nested files/folders. Eric Howes -

SF2V expansion graphic problem
eburger68 replied to pyro's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
pyro: I would review your installation steps for starters, because that isn't the VietnamSEA terrain from the Expansion Pack. It looks like the stock SF2V terrain -- with some tiles missing. Eric Howes -
NATO Fighters 4+ Part 5
eburger68 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Folks: Attached is a Hotfix for the weapons problems. Please note that this Hotfix does require you to remove 33 now obsolete weapons folders from your NF4+Mods Folder. See the included ReadMe for instructions on how to apply this Hotfix. If you encounter problems, please report them here. Eric Howes NF4+_Weapons_HotFix.7z -
NATO Fighters 4+ Part 5
eburger68 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Folks: Quick update on the weapons situation: I have identified almost 60 weapons that will have to be re-done because of a mismatch between the TypeName and folder name. At this point, I'm leaning towards fixing the weapons by re-naming folders, as opposed to re-naming the TypeNames, then tracking down all the different instances of the affected weapons in aircraft loadouts and re-doing the loadouts. The advantage to this approach is that it preserves the TypeNames that have been traditionally used for these weapons, which could be loaded by multiple aircraft including user-added mods. The downside to this approach is that it becomes more difficult to update an existing NF4+ install, as the newly named folders would be dropped in alongside the existing, misnamed folders. That's why I'm also leaning towards doing a separate NF4+ Weapons Refresh package that would include the entire NF4+ weapons folder as it should be. Installation would involve blowing away your current NF4+ weapons folder and dropping in the new one. Any way we do this, it's a mess with no clean and easy solution. Eric Howes -
NATO Fighters 4+ Part 5
eburger68 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Slartibartfast: Looks like TK made some changes the handling of weapons in the most recent patch. Those particular weapons were working before (they weren't updated in this release). The problem is that some of the original weapons in NF4+ (back in Sep. 2009) were done such that the folder name matched the MODELNAME in the DATA.INI, not the TYPENAME. This is the same problem that I encountered with the Flash Pods on the RF-4C (which are updated in this release). Looks like I'll have to go through all the original weapons and check the folder name vs. the TypeName. If anyone else spots non-working weapons with the May2011 or later patch level, let me know.
