  1. Yes, that works, but then again, the wheels of the aircraft leave the flight deck as they trundle down a supposedly level piece of kit. I seem to remember trying that with Invincible, but then decided, as that looks as silly as ploughing through the jump, to leave things as they were/are.
  2. As of now, there's no way to reproduce a 'ski jump' in TW sims. A flight deck has to be level to work. So a plane will plough through any jump at the moment. Still, as launches are dependent on a 'catapult' and its 'strength', if a catapult is allowed to be curved in the future, that might make launches off harrier carriers more realistic.
  3. Not sure about a worst modelling moment, but the best was when my son and I put together a basic model of the battlecruiser Scharnhorst. He would carefully take things off the sprue and I would glue things together. We finished things off with a little ensign, care of the printer. Sits on top of the piano as I type. It won't win any prizes for accuracy, but makes me smile nevertheless.
  4. Skippy, Am I right in thinking that the Wyvern served on Eagle during Suez? I can't remember, and a short sifting through what I have have to hand next to the desk doesn't come up with much (other than a shot of a Wyvern on what appears to be one of Eagle's catapults). Nevermind. Looked up another book and saw Eagle's Wyvern scheme................. carry on.
  5. Nice pile 'o' rust. Good luck India! Seriously, just plonking on some arresters(?) and some sort of ski jump........... Glad I'm not buying it.
  6. Well, it looks nice enough, but I'll wait for Russ' SF build.
  7. I'm still not convinced. India has built her own ships............. I just don't see these two being usefully viable. The Kitty Hawk is just far too big/old, and the Russian......... well, knackered without a lot of work. A couple of domestic light carriers would probably be the answer.
  8. Thorough refit = loadsa money.... and even then she's well over 40 years old. Plus she's huge............ far bigger than what India really needs. Just the manning levels boggle the brain. India might do better to develop/build a carrier domestically. See the Italian/Spanish/Thai solution.
  9. BUFF, Yeah, I know it's taken me forever. That's why I offer the disclaimer that if anyone else wants to build one............ feel free. Forget two weeks........ how about three years! But the last time I managed to grab some modelling time, I got a lot of stuff done, so I'm hoping to kick things further down the road. I'm down to finishing the undercarriage/animation................ general tidying-up/painting................... and trying to work out the .ini file. JimmyBib, No, sorry I didn't receive any shots. If you want to try again, you can reach me at Hinchinbrooke1963 (At) Yaho0 (doT) com. Thanks.
  10. With a bit more time, I've begun tinkering again on another old classic, the Javelin. Managed to to utilize an old '50's flypast for sound. But if anyone wants to build their own Harmonious Dragmaster, feel free. So far, this has taken me years.
  11. Gorgeous aircraft as far as I'm concerned. Did the job for both the RN and the RAF. Perhaps the most potent low level strike aircraft in NATO's arsenal.
  12. Ah!, that makes sense. I had visions of flight crew being given something of a death sentence, flying decades old rust buckets.
  13. I hate to think what kind of state the Bears might be in, given their age and Russian defence finances. Here's a shot of one of Ark Royal's Phantoms saying hello............. and Ark Royal was scrapped some thirty years ago.
  14. I have Max 5.1 so things might look a little different your end. Anyway, on the right side, towards the top I have a line of six icons. One is a hammer (Utilities). Click this, then click "More" and you should have the TW exporter as one of the possibilities.
  15. Very unfortunate. Still, ships of this class are getting on for forty years old. HMS Ark Royal (IV) had an active life of just some 23 years (with several refits) and she was in a dire state by the time she was decommissioned in 1978. Oddly enough, despite the fact that she was less mechanically sound than her sister Eagle, she was the one chosen to maintain the RN's fixed wing/carrier capability................. although Eagle was the first to test Phantoms, and it would have been relatively straightforward to bring her up to Phantom standard.
  16. Wasn't the Iron Maiden a form of torture? That might explain their 'music'.
  17. As far as I know, you can't land then taxi and relaunch via a catapult. Would be nice................. along with other flight deck features.
  18. If you're in London, try a pint (or three) of Fuller's ESB for starters........................... Yum!
  19. I've no idea how it looks from a plane, but I can ship over the lod file for testing, if you want.
  20. Here's a 60' pylon if it's what you're looking for.
  21. Re: Pylon All you'd need is an extended pyramid right? How tall?
  22. You can build your plane with just about any modelling programme out there, but you will need access to 3ds Max to get said model into the game (via the TW exporter). Good luck!
  23. Join the club! The UK had to make do with the Shackleton for several decades (note similarity to the Lancaster bomber).
