  1. Off topic, but I find it ironic that the AMX's moniker is Ghibli. The Ghia design studio was responsible for both the Maserati Ghibli, and the American Motors AMX. Both were introduced in 1968
  2. Most models don't have individual cockpits. The AMX is, unfortunately, one of them. Cockpits are much more difficult to create, than aircraft models.
  3. "The duty of the fighter pilot is to patrol his area of the sky, and shoot down any enemy fighters in that area. Anything else is rubbish." — Baron Manfred von Richthofen
  4. In all probability, the footage ended when the MiG moved out of the camera's field of view. However, I did once see an interview with a noted film producer, who stated that some of the aerial footage taken during WWII, the Korean, and Vietnam wars, required editing, as it often contained some rather "distasteful" scenes.
  5. AFAIK, that was gun camera footage from a Thud. Whover it was, he hosed that Fresco from end to end, and seems to have gotten most of that burst on target.
  6. You select an enemy, F4 to padlock, F8 for external view to target, ctrl+F8 for a target to (your) aircraft view. Easy when you actually take the time to RTFM
  7. Yes, that's one Vulcan that you'll never hear wishing one to "Live long and prosper..."

  9. As has been stated before, the Mirage Factory has every intention of releasing new F-14 models....but only when they are finished to our satisfaction. At this point, the only holdup is some minor detail work, and the cockpits.
  10. Radars, radios, ECM units (etc) all had vacuum tubes through the early 1950s. Transistors started replacing them in the 1950s, and had pretty much taken over by the mid-1960s. Radars were still using Klystron tubes and magnatrons well into the mid 1970s. Phosper radar displays (as opposed to CRTs) were still common place into the mid-1970s, early 1980s.
  11. It is interesting to watch the AI try, though
  12. yes
  13. AFAIK, the current MiG-25 model dates back to 2004. If you're inquiring as to why no one's released a version that matches the Mirage Factory's MiG-29, the answer is lack of interest (so far). There's also a matter of lead-time. The MF's MiG-29 model was in development for over three and a half years before it was released

Well, remember the "Nixon Shock" of 1971? I recall having to write a "current events" report on it in eighth grade, back in '71 or '72. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nixon_Shock

Actually, Lex, US companies had been outsourcing production overseas long before Reagan. GM, Ford, and Chyrsler had manufacturing plants in Mexico during the 60s and 70s, and both Ford and GM experimented with Japanese made transmissions during the late 70s and early 80s.
  16. Well, you need to have the effects for the smaller caliber guns, as they're not ThirdWire defaults. When I wrote them back in 2005, I christened them 37mmflakeffect and 57mmflackeffect. You then need to associate the effects with those weapons, in the gundata entries. That can be done quite easily in SF2, and Killerbee covered exactly how to do so in the knowledge base.

Man, you have a serious problem with history. Jimy Carter was handed a rebounding economy, and wrecked it in record time. Reagan's policies turned it around. G.H.W Bush in turn compromised with the Dems, which put us into a recession. The economy was starting to rebound a year and a half after the first Gulf War, but it was too late to save Bush... Clinton then came along, tried to push Goverment-run healthcare on us, and angered the electorate, resulting in a Republican takeover of Congress. Whenever the clueless gather and pine for the enconomic climate of the Clinton years, they're deluding themselves....it was Reagan's economy.....remember that the Clinton Administration spent more time and effort trying to prosecute Bill Gates (who played a major role during the economy of the 90s), than they did attempting to capture Obama Bin Laden....whom btw, was being handed over to them, but they refused.

Dispicable? You mean like "Bawney Fwank", Nancy Pelosi, Jon "Corslime", Maxine Waters, and the late and un-lameted Teddy "I beat 007 to a submersible car by 8 years" Kennedy?

I find it ironic, that if JFK had been around today, he'd be labled a conservative.
  20. Dude, You scared the crap out of me with that topic title....I read the post with a sense of dread, expecting you to say that you had been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease)...glad to see that's not the case
  21. By default, all weapons use the same flak burst effects in TW sims. You must physically edit the various caliber guns, in order to utilize different effects. I use the default effect callout for guns 85mm and above, and separate effects for the 37 and 57mm weapon classes.
  22. It's far simpler and much less expensive to change the DirectX callout (shaders, etc.), than it is to completely revamp the terrain engine. TK has stated numerous times that he does not have the resources (money) to do the latter. Think of ThirdWire as a small store, barely hanging on in this day and age of Walmarts and Target stores, and you'll get the picture.
  23. No, and that's from straight TK (though the last time that question was asked, was over four years ago). BTW, regarding the F-14 in the screenshot, the wings lack the curverture that one would expect under the circumstances
  24. The Northeast region of the 'States is considered a geologically stable area, yet we've had our share of 'quakes, the vast majority of which have been quite minor. However, we have had two events over 7.0 during the last two centuries, and there are some geologists who feel that we're overdue: http://www.state.nj.us/dep/njgs/enviroed/damage.htm
  25. FastCargo and USAFMTL just released an F-15 package, which includes an updated F-15C. The T-6 issue requires opening up the model .lod with a hex editor, and changing the material callout, or (a safer bet), extracting the existing glass.tga material, renaming it to match, and placing it in the T-6's texture folders (all of them). Hey, come to think of it, is there an existing "Glass" or "Canopy" .tga in the model's install folder? If so, it now needs to reside in the texture folders.
